Hey everyone! Just a heads up - the video goes mute in 2 spots due to copyright claim to the music. During this section, Josephine is just reading the text from the Tik Tok - so thankfully her commentary wasn't affected. Hope you can still enjoy! Thanks so much for watching! ♥🩰

Omg the pointe tap shoes! I remember going to a dance competition when I was 11 (2004/2005) where we competed against a team that did a group dance in them…my mind was blown. I was like “Welp…I guess WE lost…” 😂

Allow me to introduce myself. When I was 5 years old, I danced ballet for a year. I then quit because I moved to different country. I then figure skated for about 6 months, maybe a little more. Later on I swam competitively, eventually ended up dancing hip-hop at my school and at a local studio for nearly 2 years! I am currently 13 and I will be turning 14 this month, on the 18th! I recently joined a professional ballet school in the vicinity, I am really enjoying my lessons (3 times a week, 1 hour and 30 minutes). At the moment, I am in a group with 10 year olds however, my teacher had told me that she will put me into a group that's around my age (the girls there are already en pointe). Tomorrow I will be having my 6th lesson, and I'm really excited. I do a deep stretch daily, that lasts nearly 2 hours. On the contrary, I do some pilates to further aid me. I try my best at class every time, I try to remember all of my corrections, I also rehearse what I did at class at home. I'm already begging to see changes, my flexibility has improved immensely, my strength has increased, my coordination and my overall performance. I feel stronger than before, I also see my self losing weight in specific locations. I am really trying to stay dedicated to ballet, and I have begun taking it much more seriously. I would appreciate any kind of advice, thank you for reading this lengthy comment of mine. I wish you all a good day, or night.

LOL I went to ballet class in the 70's, we had a strict uniform - black leotard, pink tights under the leotard, pink leather shoes. Period! We did all look the same. The teacher had a long stick that he beat on the floor to keep time, and he would use it to correct us instead of touching us. At least we had a real pianist.
@ellenbrunot38022 жыл бұрын
Dear Shari, I'm as old as you because I remember similar uniform. However my teacher was a sweet little nymph named Mrs Cole who used her old dead shoes as doorknobs in her studio and house. I loved all her white hair and the fact she kept every costume in a room in her house. Magic :-)

I honestly love these reaction videos 😂 the cup trauma is very real. I do have to wonder though, since you're so good with feet and all, would you be able to distinguish a ballet dancer's feet from a non-dancer who may have feet that look like they dance? One of my favorite KZbinrs TwoSetViolin just did a concept trying to determine what (if any) instrument someone played based on their hands and honestly its a pretty cool concept. I wonder if it could be applied to feet 🤔

With regards to the ortho TikTok; I wonder if dancers who are students now will have the same issue in 10-20 years that current professional ballet dancers do, because shoes and accessories/the attitude towards “you will be in pain, deal with it” have all changed a lot in a relatively short space of time.

7:50 I used to shower with my new soccer cleats as soon as I got them. I'd tie them up the same way I would for gametime and completely soak them through. Leaving them on and occasionally tightening the laces throughout the night. The leather would form to my foot and skip the "blister stage" of new cleats. Disclaimer - this only works with REAL QUALITY LEATHER. ((Kangaroo leather was popular when I was playing and I preferred it as well. So this is what my shoes were.)) Also - I take no responsibility for the beating you get when your parents find you in the shower with brand new shoes on.

Wow. I remember seeing dancers in the 1940s with 'toe shoe taps,' and some of the dancers were AMAZING. The taps were much smaller than the ones in this video. The 'dead toe shoes' thing really cracked me up, because I had a pair that were soooooo dead I held them together with DUCT TAPE! Why? Because it was a pair that felt incredibly good on my feet and I wore them only to dance on a concrete floor. (Which did NOT happen very often at all.) I miss my ballet days even more than my tap dancing days. MS kind of sucks sometimes.
