I have just purchased this bass, I mean this actual one, today, the neck was a bit concave, I've straightened it, and it plays like a dream now, I found the sliding truss rod cover to be very convenient, hats off to LEL for the choice of pickups and preamp. I love it.

I have always loved the RD, TR and EX series of basses from Ibanez back in the day. As a matter of fact my fist bass was the EX400 that I still own. I agree that the headstock and body tend to shoehorn you into the rock metal genres. It’s looks a little silly showing up to a jazz trio gig with it in hand, but it would do the job if needed.

My main bass is a SR-500 and I got it brand new from Andertons in 2016. I’ve never had to adjust the setup apart from a slight tweak of the trussrod when changing string gauge. It’s an absolute monster and I use it for the majority of my recordings and bass vids on my channel

Pointy headstocks were all the rage in the late 80's and early 90's due to the hair metal scene. I don't know why they have made a comeback...or why Jackson never changed at all. Yeah...I'm that old.

Personally it doesnt look outlandish to me, it just looks like an RG-shaped bass. Which of course, it is. I guess I just prefer the RG look to Ibanez’ SR shape. Then again, I wonder how one of these would compare to an SR300e or SR305e… How good would you say this bridge is? Is it solid, does it seem durable? I asked around on the SR Facebook group and apparently theres even differences between the SR305 and SR305e bridges. I just hope this one doesnt have parts that’ll bend easily like the SR305 did..

I think there is a huge untapped market for retro-modern Bass guitars, some of the best high performance basses came from the 80s With the New Wave of Traditional Heavy Metal movement underway and a deepening nostalgia for all things 80s metal - there should be far more reissues of these great options. Not everybody wants to play a generic P or MM or damn Jazz 😒 those basses are a dime a dozen and look and sound just plain... Boring
