I love the idea of a Conjuration genasi born from the Wish spell. Like they were wished into existence by someone who wanted to be a parent but couldn’t for whatever reason, and that left them with the marks of the Wish spell.

This is such a sweet and brilliant idea, it gives such a strong relationship with the family of the PC that you can see in everything they are and do, as well as having a powerful spellcaster in the background of the story (could be cool if you used an archmage warlock homebrew or something, having your parent as your patron)

Same now the reason why because here's the thing long ago ever since I learn about conjurers it was pretty interesting but now thanks to the existence of this honestly you would make my DD character interesting because here's the thing he's more like born with his elements well from his father you see his father was a blacksmith and because that he always build things but he is a still magic user but the difference is he never uses magic for for anything creation but what if he did what if he just use it continue to build using the power of creation and and combining his elemental power of lava from Arcane spell basically how's my character to have a little more than just being a Elemental entity combine with power to enhance his weapons with the power of His lava magic and now his son has it AKA my dnd oc.

Currently playing a Fire Genasi in a new campaign,- with permission of the GM we also took some creative liberty with the race and went for a Pinocchio vibe. But instead of a woodcarver his father was a dwarven blacksmith wholeheartedly dedicated to the craft. He made the fire genasi on a very inspired night that might have involved some curious elemental spirits that were drawn to the masterworks that were so often being created. And from those same fire a son for him was born. We made him a wild magic Barbarian, with a custom fire/dwarven themed roll table to match!

@Master_E44423 күн бұрын
Imma be honest, while I do like the Warden Dragons themselves, the reason for making them is kinda hypocritical when ya remember how much Pointy dislikes "Interns" cause it's basically a prime opportunity for it that also literally empowers the monster in Question. Honestly just give Warden Dragons one simple fix: Have them get stronger based on the overall value of their Hoard in actual wealth, not in number of people. Plus his initial video was not the best at actually encapsulating Dragons in D&D and it's very obvious why as he's not a fan of them as a base concept. No shame but it's a game with Dragons in the name where they're a distinct Creature Type. Especially since he drew from older editions and not just 5e to make a point about there being too many of them. Like yeah, there's going to be alot of Dragons throughout the 40 year history of a Game named Dungeons and Dragons.

For air genasi’s their skin color is dependent on whatever color the sky was at the time of their birth. Some have navy blue or pitch black skin full of stars, others may look pink yellow and orange like a sunrise or a sunset, there are those resembling a misty fog, but many are a beautiful shade of sky blue. This is meant to show their intrinsic connection not just to air but to the sky
@airistal23 күн бұрын
The star pattern may or may not match the actual sky. Bright forking patterns if born in time for a lucky lightning strike. Solar eclipse bestows a highly two tone skin with stars and either a bright ring birthmark or eyes that match the eclipse. Aurora borealis color patterns are near haunting. Rainbows are special. Combinations of multiple conditions get a bit out of hand.

I even loved both steam and smoke para-genasi ideas prior to the video, but you honestly may have changed my perspective on how to create things like them in the future without using para-genasi lore! I love the idea of magical radiation basically causing cool fantasy mutations! To add on to your idea, I also like the thought of a Genasi possibly getting a free spell/trait based on the environment of the spell that resulted in their birth. For example, an Abjuration Genasi born near an ocean could generate riptide armor, a thin coat of raging waters that coat their skin and shreds things that get too close (Armor of Agathys)… or maybe a Divination Genasi born in nature could do something like reading tea leaves at the top of the morning (Get a Portent roll, like Divination wizards).
@mr.incorporeal764223 күн бұрын
They also used to have what were called *quasi*-elemental Genasi (some of whom you actually did mention), which were themed around one of the Main Four mixing with either Positive Energy or Negative Energy. Positive/negative energy aren't as much of a thing anymore, but the closest to them in modern D&D is radiant and necrotic (positive and negative energy also used to have their own dedicated elemental planes). So, for example, you could have Air + Positive Energy to make Lightning Genasi, or Earth + Negative Energy to make Dust Genasi, etc. You could even have just straight Positive Energy Genasi and Negative Energy Genasi, but those were super rare due to those planes being absurdly hostile to living things (positive plane made you over-heal until you developed horrific tumors and exploded, negative plane rapidly drained you until there was nothing left, or the opposite effects if you were undead).

In my world, Humans have the spark of life, so they can basically knock anything up. Elves are the sponges, because I made it so that Elves are created by a god as dream creatures. Thats why they dont sleep and just trance, and they dont age. Its a FFX sorta situation. As being Dream creatures originally from the Fey the dream realm. The Fey/Eladrin that mingled with humans created the normal elves, like Wood Elves, while the strange things lilke Water Elves, Shader-kai ect are from them being in that region Eevee style and becoming the new race. This metamorphosis takes a really long time, and when it happens the Elf becomes a new person. With only vague memories of "Past" lives.

I actually think D&D’s schools of magic are a terrible way of categorising magic

Same
@UnlimitedLives196023 күн бұрын
Do you have other categorisation methods you think are neat or are you pro abandoning categorisation in your stories altogether? I've tried a bit both over in different worlds but when playing DnD specifically we just default to those schools while also not really needing to bother to know what school a spell came from. If certain spells or abilities took into account the school of other spells then that would probably make them more relevant. For example, a spell that specifically blocks or undoes necromancy or a transmutation spell that shields the body against evocation. As it stands needing to remember the school has never come up in our games

How would you categorize spells more efficiently without basing it on the function of the spell
@Merilirem23 күн бұрын
You do need to categorize things though. I do agree DND is lacking in its systems but you need to make it clear somehow which magic is related. When someone wants to be a necromancer they need to be able to find all the "necromancy" magic without too much trouble.

Can I I ask in what ways they are terrible? Is it because of overlap/foggy distinctions or something else?

This is a FANTASTIC concept! I have so many ideas running through my brain right now! A necromancy Genasi could be so much fun!

This is fantastic. I made Genasi for all of the plains, but tieing them to the Arcane itself is a wonderful idea.🎉 Congrats.

Better yet has no physical arms you can see but both his or her limbs are ethereal like the mage hand spell .

Unbelievable! I cannot wait to use this idea of a living spell scroll as part of the quest line for for my group. I can see it now them trying to convince a terrified hermit to be a spell component that may or may not be used up in a ritual to stop the big bad. Thank you so much. Maybe you can add this to your second book and I'll buy that one too...

I had a lvl 17 fire gen swashbuckler rogue, he's my favorite character I've ever played. This race is a ton of fun.

The living spell genasi is such a sick concept!!! I won't implement it myself but absolutely got fully sucked into the lore :> Currently working on making an elements-themed campaign and genasi seem like a mighty good species for an npc or two, thanks! :) Happy holidays to you too! :D

One of your coolest ideas to date. I'm using them for sure, specially the spell guardian ones

I'm now imagining the idea of a set of twins born in a city which suffered from a huge clash between 2 different Arch Wizards, one affected by the Necromancy spells cast, another by the Abjuration, the two developing a deep rivalry and hatred for one another and becoming mortal foes! Each leaving on their own path and eventually clashing in the future as they've gained power! This video rules, so many fun ideas you can do with this stuff.

Back in a 4e campaign my sister played a character that was a blend of elements, and then took feats that allowed her to add more elements and swap between elemental forms, etc. Her character was also a chaos sorcerer. So it was actually a lot of fun. The character felt really like the embodiment of chaotic magic, constantly shifting elements and having unpredictable moves and attacks. Was a very wild character.
