Looks like a fun trail! I'm binging your videos, and I gotta say I think you may have the best 4Runner off-road content. A lot of the other 5th gen 4Runner channels I've seen are basically "hey we have 10k in mods to go run some dirt roads". I like that yours is fairly stock and you're doing more difficult stuff. Just goes to show you don't need to spend a fortune on accessories and steel bumpers and whatnot.

Great driving. I would love to make it to Utah some day. Just picked up a 2020 4Rnr off road premium. So far has OME Bp-51 3 inch lift. CBI full skids and side rails being delivered on Tuesday. Have to get it armored before wheeling. I came from Jeeps and this is my first Yota. Loving it so far. I have never been out west, only along the eastern seaboard and eastern Canada. So many places I want to see. Thats the purpose of my rig, exploring, not ultra rock crawling like in the past. The comfort and fit and finish in the 4Rnr is so nice compared to what i am used too.

Similar set up to yours, 3" lift and 285/70/r17s kos, without any additional weight. I have done lots of backpacking by foot but none by truck. Pumped for Utah. @@jimerinrose6235 will that rub on stock suspension on the OR?
@jimerinrose62355 жыл бұрын
Evol M3 With my 3inch lift I had to removed the front mud flaps and moved the inner plastic liner forward. I have adjustable upper control arms and with the caster set at +4.0 degrees it rubs once in a while off-road if I hit a bump just right. I need to bump the caster more next time I align it.
@stithis5 жыл бұрын
@@jimerinrose6235 are aftermarket control arms necessary when doing a lift?? Sorry I'm new to lifting vehicles.
@jimerinrose62355 жыл бұрын
Evol M3 No worries, not necessary but helps with aligning the front end with the added lift. I went with SPC adjustable upper control arms. I got them from Toytec along with my 4R20 OME 3inch lift kit. Even when my truck was stock I bumped my caster to +4 . This pushes the front wheels forward and it drives much better on the highway. Makes the truck feel more planted and less squirrelly. With a lift it’s harder to get that forward caster unless you have adjustable upper control arms. This forward caster also keeps the tires from hitting the body mounts. Without the upper adjustable control arms you might have to do a body mount chop to get the tires not to rub. Like I mentioned before you’ll also have to remove the front mudflaps and the inner front fender well you’ll need to unbolt it and move forward a little then just drill a couple holes and re mount. If you have any more question feel free to message me.

@jimerinrose62354 жыл бұрын
Ulghart If I had to pick just one on a steep rocky climb it would be the rear locker. ATRAC works awesome in mud and sand. When both are on ATRAC is almost like a locker for the front tires on a climb. Minimizes that one tire in the air spinning aimlessly. If you watch my video Surf and Turf kzbin.info/www/bejne/amG0d4V-gZl-Z5Y @ 10:21 I’m going up a sandy hill and all systems are off the truck gets at a weird angle and the left front tire shoots sand 30 feet in the air. I back up turn on ATRAC and it goes up no problem with out spinning. Both system are awesome tools to have. I usually run with everything off and turn on the system if I think it’s going to be needed. ATRAC is hard on your brakes and the rear locker is hard on your tires if your turning.

synthrone yes with some scraping
@ccwstraightshooter97615 жыл бұрын
I took my kdss off. You’ll want to remove kdss if you want to lift it and perform better off road. You can lift it with kdss but it costs a lot more to lift with kdss. Kdss is not needed. That’s why you don’t find TRD Pros with it.
@jimerinrose62355 жыл бұрын
CCWstraightshooter I don’t have KDSS and it already has a 3inch OME lift. 🙄
@Letzrace825 жыл бұрын
Disagree with this, my 4runner has a 2.5 inch lift and I didnt have to remove kdss and it didnt cost more to lift.

Could someone help me out and tell me what size KO2’s they have on that TRD off-road? Is there also a level in it?
@jimerinrose62354 жыл бұрын
Matt Sobey Sure 285/70/17’s 3inch old man emu lift. Soft springs in the front medium in the rear. It is level with all the gear in the back. Sits a little higher in the back when empty.

If he lowered the tire pressure he would do even better
@jimerinrose62355 жыл бұрын
Casey Thornton you have to understand the more you lower the tire pressure you are also losing ground clearance and increasing your chances of the tire coming off the rim. Also if my air compressor takes a crap I could still drive the truck on the road with out causing tire damage. Have you ever looked inside a tire that was run on low pressure sidewalls start to come apart. I try to stay between 20-24psi

@@jimerinrose6235 I'm ordering a TRD Offroad Premium here in a couple weeks, I'm thinking Lunar Rock. I enjoy your videos, my wife and I are going to start doing different trails all over like you and Erin have. What source do you use to find all the trails you want hit? Thanks...Mike
@jimerinrose62353 жыл бұрын
@@mikefields1873 Thats awesome, congrats on the new rig! I usually do an internet search on best off-road trails in a specific area I also look on google maps for trails. Charles A. wells has some great trail guide books from each state. I would recommend buying one before you hit that area.

@@jimerinrose6235 What PSI did you run in Moab?
@ccwstraightshooter97615 жыл бұрын
Looks like the guy in the video is climbing all that rock with his lockers engaged (lots of tire chirping). Not smart to use lockers in Moab unless your stuck in sand. Mud or super steep rock climb. You should only use lockers if your stuck not full time. Your likely going to bind up your system and snap something. A-Track is all you need in Moab at best.
@jimerinrose62355 жыл бұрын
CCWstraightshooter I didn’t have the lockers on all of the time. I only engage them when they are needed and Moab has some super steep rocky climbs where they are. A-trac is great but I found its short comings on steep rock climbs. It’s hard to see in the videos how steep some of theses climbs are and the tires squeal with or without lockers. I have 60k on my truck and off-road at least once a week all over the country. I haven’t broke anything wheeling. I’ll engage my lockers when I know I need them but thanks for your input. 😂
