@@sheilamartinez4307 Larvitar can be bought from the Games Corner in Kanto, city is called Celadon I think. If I recall you can catch Larvitar in Mt Silver too after you have all 16 badges. Rival battle at Indigo Plateau can be triggered on Mondays and Wednesdays and I think that's only if you decide to visit Indigo Plateau after you have all 16 badges In Crystal I never spent money on potions, used to always return nearest Poke Center to heal. So I saved up lots of money, with help of Amulet Coin (i think it was called) and spent the money on Fire Blast TM from Games Corner in Johto region, and Larvitar from Games Corner in Kanto. Larvitar I would evolve to Tyranitar solely for the fight versus Red

While a lot of people think of Silver having a Feraligatr due to Cyndaquil being the popular starter choice and the Pokemon Adventures Manga, I feel like Meganium is a great story choice for him, despite the contrast of Meganium and Silver's appearances. Looking at the pokedex entries: "The aroma that rises from its petals contains a substance that calms aggressive feelings." Silver starts the game with Chikorita, and during two of his most aggressive encounters with the player (leaving Azalea and entering Burned Tower) he has a Bayleef whose dex entry reads: "The scent of spices comes from around its neck. Somehow, sniffing it makes you want to fight." Silver himself says during these two encounters: "I hate the weak. Pokémon, trainers. It doesn't matter who or what. I'm going to be strong and wipe out the weak. That goes for Team Rocket too. They act big and tough in a group. But get them alone, and they're weak. I hate them all. You stay out of my way. A weakling like you is only a distraction." "…… …… …… …Oh, it's you. You wanted to get stronger, so you came for the legendary Pokémon that's supposed to be here. That's your story, right? Well, that's not going to happen. Because I'm going to get it! I'm going to be the world's greatest trainer, so a legendary Pokémon would be perfect for me. …Well, anyway. I'm getting tired of having a wimp like you always showing up" Really itching to fight you both times, and not just fight but overwhelm you as he perceives you as a weakling. He doesn't start to really question himself and his training style until he battles Lance and your battle in the Underground Tunnel where he now has a Meganium, starting to calm down and accept things he can't change. Opting for a path of more compassion for his Pokemon and for others, and thus in time after this point, he finds someone to help evolve his Kadabra into Alakazam, Haunter into Gengar, and Golbat eventually evolves into Crobat due to high happiness. If he steals Chikorita it provides a great subtle reference to his own character journey in a way the other two don't. This is just headcanon stuff so take it for what it's worth, but I love Johto.

I've always thought Silver should have Typloshion cuz fire belongs to bad trainers. Then, I got older and heard he has a Feraligatr in the manga and in the real games if you play storywise, but now reading your comment, I guess he can steal any starter from the beginning.

I think that Silver would have Typloshion too because of how it reaches its final evolution at the last battle before the player beats the Pokémon league the first time.

I too believe that Silver is most compatible with Typhlosion. Meganium's more calm nature and mature behavior is actually more fitting for Gold while Typhlosion's aggressive and fiery persona literally mirrors Silver's no nonsense aggressive manner. Totodile being the best choice for Lyra because totodile is very playful and curious character.

I don't know about anyone else, but I've loved Silver. It was a rival who legitimately hated your guts and made you want to beat him badly. I know that they technically did it with Bede in Sword and Shield, but I'd like to have another rival who's not exactly a good person/legit doesn't like me.

I think Silver has the Champion Theme bc he's completely changed now at this point. He's at his strongest now as a character and with his Pokémon bc he's now shown love for them(as shown that he has a Crobat which is evolved through happiness). He also gives you a formal ask to battle(I've forgotten his dialogue before this so I may be wrong). Or the devs just messed up lol.
