I think this was either an early 2016 or late 2015 when they were reports on Facebook saying that three corporations were literally fighting for the Pokémon movie right? @@spontaneouswizard358 I was hype as fuck when I first heard about it because I’ve always wanted a live action Pokémon movie for a long time, and on top of that if anybody were to win that which obviously turned out sort of correct in my end, it was going to be Warner Bros because of their history, because the other corporations that were fighting for it were Sony universal I think if I’m not mistaken, I don’t know if one of them was paramount, but let’s be real out of all of them. I knew the one that was going to lose with Sony because you know Pokémon is technically an Nintendo product and if you know the history between Nintendo and Sonywould probably know why they would never get the rights to such a movie so I’m glad it ended up with Warner Bros and not with anybody else. Although the only reason that happened was because of legendary. not because Warner Bros initially won the rights……

So does Universal currently own the film distribution rights for Pokemon (and by greater extent Nintendo)? I remember seeing an article about it but I can't fully recall the details. I'd imagine since Nintendo's really trying to branch deep into the video entertainment space that they would want to keep all their associated properties under one umbrella. I know Nintendo only owns a partial stake in Pokemon but I'd imagine they would keep things in line together.
