This is a very cool idea, so much patience, those gen 3 shiny odds though, so much time but so worth it. Also, I notice your fire red has the 'the save file is ok' message before you press continue, this means its a 'bootleg' or fake game, I bought a fire red from a fake 'friend' in high school that had this same message, one day my file just randomly deleted itself and I was devastated, these gen 3 fake cartridges are like viruses and they're everywhere

Yeah my friend back in elementary school gave me the fake copy. He actually gave me a fake copy of both fire red and leaf green but the leaf green couldn’t keep a save at all. As soon as you tried to save it would crash. He told me he couldn’t get either of them to work for him and the fire red always worked fine for me. Eventually later I found out that the fire red only has issues when you try to use it in a ds. If you try to load it up from a ds it will always delete the save file. So I only use it in a gameboy. I also always trade the shinies I get from it off to my main leaf green file in case something happens randomly. I actually recently dropped the copy and broke a piece of the case off of it and when I tried to play it, it froze and deleted the save file. Luckily nothing important was on it but yeah fake copies are always risky to try and use especially for shiny hunting. I take extra precautions when using that copy nowadays!

I'm glad people wake up to what's legit and what is not, it's a real shame that there are people in the world that say they're your friend and knowingly give you a fake game that they know will delete itself and get a lot of money for it. So currently I use just an old iPhone to record my game screens but it takes a bit of messing around to get the focus to look good on them. I also use a dslr camera for my face cam but I would recommend any old camera for that. I also use a blue yeti microphone but I started off shiny hunting using only the iPhone camera and no face cam so sometimes that’s all it takes!

Depends on how lucky or unlucky you get while hunting. I also don’t time my hunts and don’t remember how many resets in an hour but if I were to guess around 400 which would be about 20 hours. I Typically hunt around 2 hours a day so about a week and a half to get this one

Does your ID number matters when you are shiny hunting starter Pokémon?

Nope! People do like to reset for cool looking ID numbers though so that their shinies have them!

I’ve played Pokémon casually since Gen 1 and don’t remember ever encountering a shiny

Sometimes it just takes a bit of luck. When I was like 10 only a handful of people I knew had encountered a shiny and it was 1 max if that. I only had one shiny myself being a shiny bidoof. However in the past few years I’ve gotten a lot more random shinies throughout playing my Pokémon games!

I don’t usually keep track of time. I only keep track of encounters to know where I’m at in the hunt . Even with 2 games though I believe I was still only getting a few hundred encounters every hour. I try to hunt about 2 hours a day.

Really your best bet is to look online. It’s pretty easy to determine a fake leaf green just by looking at it but I’d do some research on it first

Why you bother about fakes ? Odds are pretty same, game itself is 100% authentic and trading between fakes and originals are allowed. Even the domiNation has fake fire red. You can spot this, when he soft reset, it says - the save file is ok. Original doesnt do that, as you can see with that leaf green ☺️

There is no such thing as being "due" for a shiny bro. Each reset is 1/8192 and the number of resets you've done does not change that...

lol you act like I didn’t know that. Odds eventually balance out. Even though there’s no such thing as being “due” it is extremely unlikely to do many hunts in a row extremely over odds.
