Nintendo recently announced that the online services for the Wii U and 3DS will be discontinued in April of 2024. While the Pokemon Company has confirmed that Pokemon Bank and Poke Transporter will not be shutting down at this time, they left an ominous message for players to "transfer their Pokémon to Pokémon HOME at their earliest convenience."
So here is every shiny Pokemon from gen 1-7 that would potentially be impossible to obtain in Pokemon Home if they were to shut down Pokemon Bank!

It has been brought to my attention that I completely overlooked shiny spinda. While you can hunt it on the switch (BDSP) due to a mess up with how its patterns are determined, you cannot put them into Home from BDSP. Hopefully the next game has spinda with the patterns working correctly…

i caught shiny spinda in XY era its quite rare but hoards make it a bit easier to sniff out VERY NICE collection, i have a legit living form dex going but im around 600 shinies and lack the OT on many of them ;_; i do have the complete dex on GO which is probably the most annoying\worst way to do it lmfaoooo

I want to make it apparent that despite April 8 being the time that 3DS and Wii U are being shut off Wi-Fi wise, Nintendo is still planning to keep the Bank / Transporter on the 3DS active post-shutdown indefinitely.

Pokémon transferring is unnecessarily complicated. I wish they’d just let everyone download Pokémon Bank (it’s free after all) and add (at least) all digital Pokémon games that were in the 3DS eShop to the Switch one

Nintendo likes to make a lot of strange decisions. It’s constantly memed on how they shut down ways to legally purchase their games but then have huge issues with people pirating their games when there’s no way to actually purchase them legally

I feel like they should've added a patch to bank/home that allowed you to move Pokémon via Infrared since both the switch joycon and 3DS have it so Gamefreak no longer has to supply online servers to transfer Pokémon from Gen 3-7 to Switch kinda like how you could trade Pokémon nearby using it

That would be a cool solution! I think you would still have to make bank supported locally though as you wouldn’t be able to send straight from the cartridges. And making bank a local program that has the data stored on your 3DS would solve the issue as well!

@@ThedomiNATIONWhile not an elegant solution, there is (presumably) the option of updating the 3DS games with transfer functions since updates can still be downloaded despite the E-shop shutting down. Honestly, if TPCi wasn’t so greedy, this probably would’ve already existed. Pal Park and Poke Transfer worked just fine on lesser hardware, so there’s no reason why PokeTransporter and Pokémon Bank needed to even exist. And of course there’s the even less elegant solution of creating a peripheral that plugs into the 3DS and Switch, similar to the GBA-GC link cable. Which I’d honestly prefer, as I like having additional hardware for these exact scenarios. Much better than relying solely on software.

Something else worth noting that wasn’t mentioned in the video is the Pokémon Gold/Silver coin case glitch, which can be used to obtain the shiny form of any Pokémon available in those games including Celebi and I think Mew as well. There are also rng manipulation methods that can be used to make the hunting process in various games much faster.

Great video! It's definitely beneficial to spread info right now about Pokémon that collectors might want go make sure they obtain brfore it's too late, with Bank being on borrowed time. Shiny hunting is already challenging but like you said if you want to hunt in older games and transfer up, legitimate means to do so are coming to an end. Really is an end of an era coming.

It's sad to see how much of a clutch Pokemon GO has on obtaining so many of these shinies - I have a feeling it's going to be the first way that some of these shinies (especially starting with the Gen V mythicals) will *ever* be released shiny. Also, for Manaphy, it's hacky, but I personally endorse using 3DS cfw to totally clear the Ranger games' save files!! If you can delete the entire .SAV from the cart, any cart can be reset to distribute Manaphy again!

After stumbling across your channel I've been working on my living dex as much as I'm going to be able to. I'm almost done with Gen 3 and already caught all legendaries/mythicals in Gen 4. I've only ever even seen one shiny (Murkrow) and it was in a HGSS ROM hack with I think unadjusted shiny odds.

Its absolutely insane that they're going to cut 7 gens like this.... And ill never forget the little ad on youtube when crystal VC came out and the pokemon company was like "finally, all the games are linked!" And like 4 years later dexit happens lol. And the worst part is I dont buy for a second this whole argument about server costs. That is a drop in the bucket for what the server would actually be doing and how many people would use it. Nah, this is about money. They dont want even the few of us that would actually take the time to transfer from gen 3 up to debate ever getting one of their remakes over playing the old games. Even if those remakes are outsourced and extremely lazy....

Pokemon bank being shut down is why I always hated the idea of it being a online only transfer method, at least I can hope 3rd party servers allow the transfer so 6th and 7th gen game are saved

Yeah it’s a sad reality we must face. Same thing will happen to Pokémon home some day… maybe next console or so they will make the storage/transfer system a physical game or offline product so we don’t have to do this every few years

@@TheDarknash its specifically bdsp that has a bug with spindas patterns that does not allow it to transfer at all, and because bdsp is the only switch game with spinda currently, that means you have to hunt it on an older console

This is what ive offered as a solution but I highly doubt they'll allow it. In fact I believe they'll do an update on home that entirely removes transfer functionality. But if they somehow allow it, then that'd be amazing. I dont buy the server cost argument. It wouldnt be that many people using it. The vast majority of the pokemon fanbase are casual players who just focus on the most current gens. Those of us with the old games AND the will/knowledge to transfer are a very small group and its not like we're in need of servers to support FPS levels of connectivity. We're setting kilobytes of data lol. But, I dont think this is about practicality or costs. This is about them wanting to kill the past so you feel compelled to buy their extremely lazy remakes instead of playing your superior older games. Even if we are just a fraction of people who would actually play an older game over a remake, they still want you to buy the new one to nostalgia bait you.

Love your videos, this is a great reference point to use. The whole Manaphy egg thing is wild, it's so weird they would just make it a completely static number of eggs per hoe many cartridges are printed. If I could make a suggestion, I'd see if you can tweak your mic settings a bit. Your voice gets kind of scratchy sometimes and it sorta sounds like you're yelling through the speakers all the time. It's not the end of the world, but it can make binging your videos a little headache inducing 😅

After hearing the news about Bank, I set myself up for the Manaphy hunt. I started back in October with 4 eggs. Currently at 1996 eggs hatched thus far. Praying to RNGesus it shines for me before the inevitable 🙏. Still need to do mew, deoxys and partner cap pikachu as well 😢

@@nightigal It usually takes me on average of 20min per run. 12-15min to get to the point of trading, the other 5-8min trading and hatching. I just mash A button and picked Turtwig every time lol. I've stopped at 2004 eggs hatched so far. One uncatchable shiny Starly at the Pokemon selection battle and I've managed to catch one random encounter shiny bidoof. How about you? How many eggs have you gone through so far?

If you have Pokemon red vc on the ds and Pokemon blue vc ,when it comes out, on the switch do you think Nintendo will make it so you could go to the Pokemon center and trade between devices? That would be a good way to go around Pokemon bank and getting your Pokemon on the switch if they have downloadable vc for each generation

Piece of advice: Don't try hunting Shaymin or Darkrai in D/P. Shaymin just won't transfer at all if caught in those games and Darkrai only works under certain circumstances if caught in those games. Just use Pt to hunt them, it will save you a lot of trouble.

Yep! Like it’s possible to get a shiny darkrai from Diamond that can transfer but I didn’t want to complicate things so I just only specified platinum!

During the initial outbreak of covid, I full odds hunted a shiny darkrai in diamond because that was the only gen 4 game I had on hand. TLDR; transferring him was honestly pretty simple, all you gotta do is delete/teach him moves so that his moveset matches his platinum event counterpart then level him up to the same level as that counter part, the whole process took 10 minutes and wasn’t really painful at all.

But a lot of people get confused about when you can give it the right level/moves as a lot of people think you can do it in gen 5 but it needs to be done in gen 4. Just more info would’ve have to explain and I didn’t want to make this video 30 minutes long lol. I actually originally included the gen 8 and 9 mons that couldn’t be shiny hunted but it seemed kinda pointless and unrelated!

i dont know if anyone wants to know this. but you can actually get multiple manaphy eggs from the same ranger cartridge by whiping the save with a modded 3ds instead of the in game way of whiping a save file and then beating the game again. it is also possible to backup a completed save that hasnt send over the egg yet, send the egg over and then restore this backed up save file. it will give you the ability to send one over again. this means every ranger copy is basically a multi use manaphy egg distribution cartridge which is pretty neat. I personally speedran the same ranger copy 20 times to get myself 20 eggs without having to buy a butt load of ranger copies with also risking the chance of buying a copy that had already send over the egg. (you can just whipe this save with a modded 3ds to reenable it though but at that point you might as well use your 1 copy and do this multiple times)

Yep just a normal soft reset hunt! I would just recommend using 2 games to hunt it as there’s a 1/4096 chance it’s properly shiny locked for you! Very unlikely but you can’t be too safe!

I have a question. I'm sure everyone knows about the past Mystery Gifts for Generations 4 and 5. You simply modify your setting on your DS and you can unlock them. Do you think it's wrong? I love the Shiny Entei. It's not technically cloned or created in some lab. I look at it as a legitimate Pokémon. Thoughts?

I'm doing some hunts before they decide the shut down Bank (Really want to hunt Kyurem on Gen 5 and Type Null and Poipole on Gen 7 soon), but actually today I got my shiny Celebi on Crystal after like, 15 minutes of hunting, I was shocked , I think I SR less than 10 times XD Counterpart to that, Darkrai on Platinum been some months hunting and no luck at all.

I actually managed to get a shiny Poipole via SRs recently in Ultra Sun, so after I get all the Ribbons it can have in gen 7 on it (Ribbon Master stuff) I'll be transfering it to Switch so it alongside all the other Pokemon I'm currently trying to prep up ribbon master challenge wise can be handled whenever I want instead of there being a time limit

You missed something. It’s a bit complicated but it’s definitely worth it. It is actually possible to get shiny Deoxys in Pokemon Sword and Shield. There’s an event distributed every July 20. All you have to do is go to NASA and ask the astronauts to take you to the moon. Thats how I got my shiny Deoxys in all forms.

The sad reality is that some shiny Pokémon (and most likely more in the future) will be GO exclusives. We already have the meltan line and technically shiny genesect. I wouldn’t be surprised if victini, meloetta, and a bunch of other shiny legendaries/mythicals are first/only seen through GO

The mythical hunts are cool, I just wish they weren’t so expensive or hard to set up. The DNS glitch for Gen 4 games to get the old events in Platinum is notoriously hard to do because of the original DS’s poor wifi security protocol (meaning you can’t use a modern up to date wifi network and need some kind of workaround to disable the password), and the Manaphy hunt is just ridiculous. I respect the people who go through the effort to do these hunts, I just hope there’s a decent alternative introduced in the future.

All you need for the dns exploit to work in gen 4 is a wifi connection with no password. McDonald’s wifi goes hard for this 😂 I personally use a feature on Mac to share internet from either a hotspot or from Ethernet but yeah if you don’t have that option you’ll have to either figure out how to change your internet so there is no password or go somewhere that has free WiFi that doesn’t require a password

As the first remake game will come in I think it should be Johto and it should have a shiny huntable celebi like one per se file after the post game for a Johto remake I feel like a lot of pokémon fans would like that since the only way to get celebi is through the 3DS

Recently I’ve been on a grind to get Shiny Legendary Pokémon in USUM, as well as other elusive Shiny Pokémon that aren’t available on the Switch. I’ve gotten Poipole, Celebi and Type: Null, and I got a Mew through 8F in Red. I haven’t gotten Partner Cap Pikachu yet, but hopefully I can get it at some point. Other rare Shinies are ones I just won’t be able to get. I don’t have access to a Gen 3 Mew, Jirachi or Deoxys. I have the Ranger games, but I don’t know if I can even still get a Manaphy Egg, and even if I can that hunt just seems too torturous for my liking. I can hunt the other Sinnoh Mythicals in Gen 4 if I really want, but I’d rather do it in BDSP, since they have better odds and I have access to them. And as for Patrat, the monkeys and Furfrou, I don’t really care enough to look for them.

In sword and shield, they made it so any pikachu can learn surf via a TR. so yeah you can just hunt any shiny pikachu and make it a surfing pikachu!

Im glad you are spreading the word of these potentially vanishing shinies. One thing though is you can get shiny celebi through the coin case glitch too. Also if you don't want to spend all the time tediously hunting Manaphy, rng is the way to go. I know some people don't like rng but I think it's better than trading back and forth and back and forth again and again. Anyway, great video and can't wait to see the next shiny!

mind explaining the rng method? i know what rng is typically (the random number generator that determines odds of things) but am unfamiliar with using it to shiny hunt.

@@pancakes4life804 im a blisy has a lot of really good videos on RNG manipulation! essentially you can exploit the formulas that call the random numbers to guarantee a certain result, including shininess :) for manaphy in particular, i would imagine the method would be to obtain your manaphy egg, check its SID, and RNG manip a new savefile that has that SID to hatch the manaphy shiny in.

and remember folks pokemon bank will eventually shut down, probably sometime this year to boot. so do whatever it is you want to before they go down for good and we are forced to wait for a long time before playing those games on new hardware.

I just managed to reset myself a Shiny Type:Null which I actually wanted to use for a UM playthrough. I totally forgot about Bank being near the end of its lifespan so I'll transfer it over now, since they have shinylocked it the past 2 gens it may never be free again. Rushing through UM now to get Poipole and another Null for Silvally.

I think as soon as its possible to obtain the last few regular pokemon on the switch, like patrat and the elemental monkeys, thats when the bank servers will shut down. If the unova remake rumours are true then that means bank will most likely be closed by year's end

Those Pokémon are not coded to be in scarlet and violet (or any switch game as of now) and spinda is the same as can’t take it out of BDSP which is the only switch game it’s coded in

I need some info, is it actually possible to send shiny mew through an english version of pokemon emerald? I know its legal in japanese cause the event was released for them but with the pomeg berry code execution we can get the event item in the english copy but im not sure if it would flag it as illegal. also, just an opinion, if youre able to get the event item without the use of an external device or more specifically in the game itself alone without modifications I think its still fair to call legitimate. Glitches being in the game that may not necessarily be intended but can be used I think are fair game and fall within the execution of the code writting of the game :)

Yeah any mew caught from the faraway island event in emerald are legal to send up! Bank and home don’t check language, only how they were caught and from what game! (I wouldn’t be including that mew in the video if it wasn’t legal or I would at least specify Japanese only if that’s how it worked)

working on RNG shiny hunting in gens 4, 5, and 7. skipping 6 because that's practically impossible, though I am taking the HG mewtwo I've caught and doing ribbon master quest with it so I'll be revisiting gen 6 as well. Having said that, I am in a constant state of panic and I will remain as such until I manage to get a full shiny living dex of everything I possibly can :)

Are you can transfer up a Shiny Mew from an English Emerald? I was under the asusmption that it would be illegal since the event never relased outside of Japan, therefore only a Shiny Mew from a Japanese Emerald could be legally transferred, since they could easily assume that a non-japanse mew in gen 3 was gotten through ilegittimate means

Yep I have sent up many emerald mew from my own copies (not shiny but regardless it wouldn’t matter) this is because the event was officially released it just happened to be on only Japanese copies. So a mew from that event will always be seen as legal so that those who did get the Japanese event never have to worry about it being locked out!

Darkrai and Shaymin can be got on the switch still in 2024, if you have a custom firmware switch or are playing on an emulator. You can use a save file editor to edit the items into your game. Likewise you can get Darkrai and Shaymin in Diamond and Pearl via void glitch but only Darkrai in Diamond (pearl can work but people have complained about it not working, I'm just saying this now because I have no clue myself) can be sent to Pokémon Home.

I'm seeing this just after finishing my 2 Type Null Hunts in original Sun & Moon. I'm gonna go for: the virtual console Mew and Celebi, Ash Hat Pikachu, Poipole ×2 and Type Null ×2. I like to keep my shiny Pokémon in the games I find them in and only transfer up duplicates so I'm gonna hafta deal with Ultra Sun & Moon's shenanigans to get a second set of Type Null. I was fortunate enough to get the event shinies for Poipole and Silvally so in the event I have to rush and transfer something up, I'll just move up my event Silvally and my Type Null from Moon. For everything else, I'm not gonna bother because I don't have access to those games and for two, the non-shiny locked Pokémon are most likely gonna get put in gen 10 or something.

To me that's no different than hacking in an event item to shiny hunt Darkrai or Mew, both are sketchy ways of obtaining them, but are still ways.

Poipole is the only one I really want to do. I hate soft reset hunts though, as it’s so tedious and not enjoyable whatsoever. I’ve only accomplished one… celebi in Gen. 2. But I have a device to clone Pokémon in USUM, so it does make the hunt more appealing. As I can do it once and get both evolutions. But I have to restart my save to do it, and haven’t bothered yet.

What was your final wonder/GTA trade? I spent Saturday and Sunday breeding and sending out Winter form Deerling so I hope someone appreciates it. My final wonder trade was a popplio and I got back a hypno. I also got to stay on the server close to an hour after the shutdown. 😅got a Lugia for my ultra sun!

Shiny Victini, Meloetta, Keldeo, Genesect, "Battle Bond Greninja", Diancie, Hoopa, Unbound Hoopa and Volcanion do have a QR codes in SM/USUM, so you can at least get them to display in Bank and, by extension, Home.

When sending things across from Bank to Home, Home updates to display all the forms that have been seen in Bank, as long as you have had that Pokemon in Home at least once. You can even hack in Shiny Cosmog and Cosmoem, send them to Bank, and synchronize the two. Just don't send the Shiny Cosmog/moem to Home.

The same reason partner cap pikachu was included in gen 1 despite being a Gen 7 exclusive Pokémon. It’s because it’s a Gen 1 species or in this case greninja is a Gen 6 species. Easier to go by dex number order than form introduction order

Wait Pansear is regional in go? I found it one day outside my house (Live in the countryside of California) clicked it and it was shiny, but was out of pokeballs so walked to my church to spin for more a hoped it was still there. Yep! It’s a regional! The americas only get panpour but they have made the other monkeys spawn global during go fest and one other random event if I’m not mistaken, so you probably caught it during one of those!

Shiny spinda can be shiny hunted, but from what I've seen, it can't be sent to pokemon home from any of the switch games or Pokemon Go. Idk if it matters to other shiny hunters, but I would like to complete my shiny living dex by having all the pokemon in pokemon home.

Even though I'm not worried, at the back of my mind I've been thinking about these stuffs for these past couple of months. Even though gf offer from their past shiny giveaways like the shiny xerneas, yveltal, and zygarde from gen 6-7 events and others that I already got (though there are still some waiting haven't received it yet - from that delivery guy standing at there at the pokecenter for years.. haha..), there is not much satisfaction when you get it by hard core grindy soft resetting. I got my special shiny competitive HA froakie/greninja through breeding from my Y cuz it hatched before my grandma passed away years ago and shiny zekrom from AS and more. Yeah... I fell you due to the announcement of the online service closure and when will the pokebank & transporter will actually shut down, we really have a limited time to legally own these shinies. As of now, still SR for the Poipole in my US. That 8F method of mew in gen 1 is really tedious. These guides of jotting down those hard to get shinies. It was really helpful to those who missed out but can still get it. Kudos!

I think they’ve changed the odds a bunch of times for meltan. I’m pretty sure when it first released they were like 1/20 but because they made the box last an hour long and then increased the spawn rates of the box, they’ve been lowering the odds. I believe they are currently the medium 1/128 odds as my last one was like 300 Meltan ago 😬

It’s also really important to shiny hunt these because unless they port these games to the switch, some may never be huntable again! Even through remakes. Gamefreak has clearly done away with soft reset hunting. They apparently HATE IT. That’s why if you notice, (with the exception of BDSP because they didn’t make it) any Pokémon encounter that would require a soft-reset to hunt is shiny locked! Starters, static encounters, etc. all shiny locked. It’s not that they don’t want you to have them shiny. You can still breed for starters. But you can’t soft reset for them. Look at gen 9 DLC, they added a bunch of old legendaries we’ve shiny hunted before. But because they were static encounters they shiny locked them because it would require soft resetting. So hopefully they stop being fucking lazy and just stop making static encounters! That way we can get shinies, and they get to not allow soft reset hunts. Win/win! I’m not sure why they hate it so much though. I hate it too, but for different reasons. But if they make the hunts fun, nobody will miss soft resetting. But just simply shiny locking it as an answer is lazy.
