Pokemon Spear Pillar and Distortion World Cutscene Remake

Cyrus summons Dialga and Palkia using the Red Chain and the lake trio but gets dragged into the Distortion World by Giratina.
In this Spear Pillar Remake animation I decided to base it more off the anime rather than Platinum, mainly so I wouldn't have to model the entirety of Sinnoh from atop Mt. Coronet which would take forever to render. So being inside an ancient distorted space-time cave works out great.
Thanks for watching, this is probably the project I've spent the most time on so far.
Still, I don't think I'm done with Spear Pillar because I'd like to remake the Hall of Origin, the cutscene from Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl without the chibi models and more. So make sure you're subscribed!

I love how Cyrus accepts the distortion world as his new home. He wakes up all annoyed that Giratina put a stop to his plans, then he looks around and suddenly understands why Giratina was banished to the reverse world and they immediately sympathise with each other.

@@LeKornorBros platinum is the same game as diamond and pearl just better, so technically making a platinum remake would count as a diamond and pearl remake. It would be dumb if people want bdsp to never have any platinum aspects just because of a technicality. It shouldn't matter if people want the remakes as true as possible if it means more people will buy the game just to see what a distortion world looks like remade. The only other reason I could find is if there are people that somehow hates platinum more than diamond and pearl. Making the remakes to be as true to original as possible will only appease the older fans, while the new fans, their first time of bdsp, sure, pretty good, but it will have been a better experience for them if the developers don't deliberately make a worse version of the game to appease the older fans. And if they removed the section from the game to save time and money, I'm fine with that. I wouldn't buy the game regardless because of the lack of feature, but it makes sense that the chance to appeal to the hearts of people like me isn't worth the risk of spending a whole lot more time and a whole lot more money.

Seeing the whole of the distortion world would have been so interesting, as would seeing Giratina appearing in a way similar to this (although it would obviously have to be under different circumstances as post-game content)

this took hours for a beefy computer to render all the objects and textures and light and post processing effects correctly, and the switch has a pretty weak mobile processor with a dated GPU that has to render scenes at least 30 times per second, so by nature the switch is going to look worse than something like this, this animation is very well done don't get me wrong but you just can't compare the two since they are completely different beasts

Because fans make what fans want, a company has policies to uphold. I'm not saying the policies are good, but they sure do have them. Also, they were working under the theory that you cant make a sinnoh remake that works like SwSh, since the game was made back when pokemon games followed that specific formula. I hate that they gave us back random encounters, and roaming pokemon. But I cant help but enjoy the nastolgic feeling of hunting pokemon down, being at the mercy of rng, and being swarmed by my bro zubat. BDSP isn't made to satisfy the new ways of pokemon, that's why they made PLA. BDSP is the answer to the game people demanded since gen 5, and thus reflects the old ways. That being said, none are happier than me that we likely wont have to do this shit ever again

Why couldn’t we have this in the remakes. Honestly I would love an RPG with voice style to Pokémon. It’s about time we move away from traditional remakes that makes graphics to Chibi Ann what not, and have something like this. Even if it’s a scene can you imagine a game where it’s oriented like this? This was absolutely amazing! Got me emotional. We deserved a game like this. However I'm actually now questioning what the red chain is, why it got the shape of Arceus' thing, that does look like a restrainer, and what does that mean for arceus. Could Arceus at first not have it, and it was made by humans and put onto him? I'm thinking we could see something like that in Legends Arceus since I'm pretty sure anyway that the evil guys will try to catch Arceus

Simply put, Cyrus paraphrases the red chain as 'containing the powers of the original one.' Said 'original one' is Arceus, so that's why the chain takes the shape of Arceus' ring. However, presumably the red chain isn't a natural thing, it's a human-made creation I'd imagine because in the games, Cyrus mentions taking crystals from the Lake Trio (which are the red spots on their foreheads). That's why the rings look like restraints because it wasn't a thing that was supposed to exist. I'd imagine Arceus did have a similar power to the Red Chain in the past, or rather the Red Chain has similar powers to Arceus, so Arceus was the original holder of the 'red chain powers' and humanity just emulated said powers.

Also he doesn't need to control pokemon anyway, he does it there just to get them defensive. What do you think they will use to catch Arceus in Legends, the red chain. Cyrus didn't invent it, he inherited the plans of whoever in Legends will want to mess with Arceus, he kind of implies that in his PC files. I don't see the sense of it having Arceus' ring but, could be something of the sort of the way Arceus created pokemon, as if they originated from one of those rings, and in that state they were under full control

@@Terapagos3000 We don't know anything about Arceus' intents or actions in Legends yet, and we have no idea why and how Kleavor (and presumably other Noble Pokemon) started rampaging outside of that it's almost definitely connected to that lightning strike and that rift over Coronet. But yea, Cyrus def didn't invent the red chain. However there's apparently different kinds of red chains. The red chain created by the Lake Trio is natural and likely was intended to exist by Arceus so that the Lake Trio can subdue Dialga and/or Palkia (and potentially also Giratina) in case of an emergency. In Platinum, because we freed the Lake Trio before Galactic was done with making two Red Chains, only one was created, and another one was somehow created artificially by Cyrus (not sure if it's explained in-game how). Regarding the shape, I don't think this really means anything. In-game, the Red Chain was never portrayed as Arceus' arch or anything alike, even in BDSP. I assume it's like this just cause, as Amber Kngiht said, it's meant to have some of Arceus' energy in it or smth. The anime writers could've also been just making a reference to Arceus or it's an anime universe lore exclusive thing.

I wasn't seeking something like this in the remakes because it was unrealistic, even without the state of what we got or the second entire game that was being worked on. Not really, since the games make it clear Giratina was pissed about someone enslaving/torturing its 5 siblings. It's also calm when approached, so there's a good chance the Distortion World segment was just a test offered to the player for having come so far and gotten close to dealing with the situation without further intervention. The general implication is that Giratina was watching the whole time but only intervenes if absolutely necessary, in this case because the lake trio couldn't deal with both Dialga and Palkia at the same time. The pokedex entries are referencing in-universe legends and folklore but there are cases where they aren't necessarily accurate. Solgaleo and Lunala were seen as male and female despite being genderless and there's conflicting information about Kyurem. Giratina's entry may have just been people trying to rationalize the big scary ghost dragon who lives in a creepy otherworld people can't imagine willingly living in. Especially since Sendoff Springs and Turnback Cave make it look like people near Veilstone may have once worshiped it and there used to be a third plaque in Eterna. It also freely travels between worlds and I don't really buy the form difference being a form of banishment. It starts off in Origin form when appearing at Spear Pillar and can probably switch at will but the game mechanics won't reflect that. A bit like how logically pokemon would know/have access to more than 4 moves without having to forget any and it's just a game imposed limitation.

There is no mention of any sort of rebellion as whatever Giratina did was scrubbed out of time and space. There is no way anyone is going to know and we don't want to know. The whole rebellion thing comes from people who label and assert that Giratina is the pokemon devil even though no such thing exists.

@@taiga738 I wouldn't call those contradictions however. Solgaleo and Lunaala are very clearly masculine and feminine and they do produce new Cosmogs for new dimensions. That is more likely the games labeling them as genderless rather than it being incorrect. As for Kuyrem it was just a matter of context and not having the full picture. Kyurem did fall and created the chasm and in the impact most likely did loose a horn and wing and has been terrorizing the city looking for them. They were just wrong as to where Kyurem exactly came from. Legends in pokemon has a tendency to be entirely correct with only two exceptions. It is quite amazing how well the pokemon world records and preserves information.

Ah, this is cool. I feel like I'm watching a fan-made version of; In my honest opinion, the second best villain arc in the entire Pokémon anime. The first to me is the obviously untouchable Team Flare Arc.

Looks a bit rough around the edges in some ways. Some animations/lighting/materials/camera-work could be improved. Still, as a fan made cutscene it still does a lot of things right and looks pretty cool. This is the 1st video I ever saw from you so I don't know about how skilled you are at doing this but if you ever improve or have the time to revisit this, I think a fan-made masterpiece could be born. Take this as constructive feedback from someone who did enjoy your video but thinks it has potential for more. Keep it up.

This is really great. My only critique is have Cyrus monolog after Giratina shows itself and then do the jump scare in the middle of the monolog, like Platinum. One of my favorite things in all Pokémon games. Thank you for this video, for this art.
