Am I the only one that thinks that Slowpoke's and Slowking's behaviour resembles that of people with AD(H)D (the Inattentive variant)? Getting distracted and slowed down by all the thoughts going on in the brain, looking dreamy, not being able to focus. Give them certain medication (or: toxins in Shellder's case), and they are able to focus and channel their brainpower more.

If there's a secret to Slowpoke, it's in how it relates to Psyduck. I mean, think about it. They're each other's counterpart in version exclusivity. One is in constant pain due to headaches, the other barely registers pain. One has a secondary psychic typing, but the other is better known for its odd powers. I think the shellder activates a sorta acupuncture on slowpoke that's why he stands up instead of laying down, acupuncture can even change a persons personality and even make them smarter, that's why if the shellder comes off of slowpoke, slowpoke goes back to being lazy. The shellder's teeth bite deep into its tail puncturing slowpokes nerves and maybe because this shellder is a unique shellder that is suppose to go with all slowpokes ounce evolved. I love thus theory I always loved the slowpoke line and hated how people underestimated them. Like they are part psychic types so they have brain power and awareness like all the other ones, so something must be holding them back. There's actually an episode in the anime about Slowpoke that says Slowpoke are actually meditating and contemplating on the meaning of life or something, which eventually leads one to enlightenment much like a Buddhist monk. The episode even features a temple entirely dedicated to Slowpoke and initiates seeking the paths to enlightenment. So yeah Slowpoke must be a Buddha, an enlightenment soul.

Do you want to hear my theory on why slowking is so smart? I think it's because when shelder bites its head, it produces so much pain that it triggers another part in the slowpokes brain that was never activated before. Also, this part of the brain takes away the pain because it knows that there isn't a problem damaging its body. Btw pain is caused by the brain realizing something is wrong in your body so it sends strong signals to the nerves in the area in which he you are being hurt to tell warn you.
