It isn't just the grind; it's the fact that to get a legal team you likely need something around 3-6 other games that are all currently only available via incredibly overpriced 3rd party retailers. I wouldn't be surprised if TPC gets upset at this tournament having taken place, and goes after this youtube video or your channel out of spite (Similar to how Nintendo who went after pointcrow for working to create a BOTW multiplayer mod) Also, I'm convinced that the only reason TPC allows Showdown to keep existing is because they know that taking it down would be a catastrophic blow to the pokemon competitive scene

Why would TPC care about BOTW? P.S: on Pokemon Showdown, I wouldn't be so confident and I honestly couldn't care less is showdown dissappeared. Re: the netcode in official Pokemon games: have you seen how long it took Japanese game devs to adopt rollback instead of delay based netcode in fighting games? Tony Cannon, an American, released the first version of GGPO in 2006. By the early 2010s, only American companies had added it to fighting games such as Skullgirls and Killer Instinct, even though Capcom at least had seen it thanks to Tony when it first came out. The earliest Japanese game with it was a remaster of Street Fighter 3, done by an American company, with Capcom proper using it starting with Street Fighter 5. The bulk of Japanese devs didn't see the need, due to how their local conmections were good plus possibly bias as it came from outside Japan. The COVID pandemic was a catalyst that finally got them to change. So, with that in mind, until the screwups in Japan happened at Worlds, I highly doubt improving netcode to take into account stuff like disconnects really registered as an issue with them, since they probably never saw stuff like that in their normal environments. Even if they had, cultural biases could lead them to ignoring existing outside solutions. Hopefully Worlds was a big enough wakeup for them to start working on in-game solutions.

In my opinion, the major problem the Pokemon dev team faces is that of cheating vs having an unfair advantage. They should be focused on eliminating unfair advantages and making the playing field level for all, but instead they care more about the people who are cheating. Sure, you *can* cheat to get an unfair advantage, but if they're not getting one by doing so, then it isn't a problem. It's a similar problem as F2P vs P2W. In one you're just paying for a cool skin or something, while in the other you're paying to get an unfair advantage.
@charnalk5572 Жыл бұрын
I guess they do this for two reasons, the first and the very obvious reason is that getting pokemon through means outside of the game is already against the rule and the spirit of the game. If you want to play, then play the damn game instead of cheating in, as you are supposed to take time "raising" your pokemon. Second, this gives the imagine that they are absolutely not in control and that their scene is filled with hacks (which they are lmao, cuz they fucking suck at designing games). It's mostly front saving, and it gives the message to the casuals that they are indeed punishing the "cheater" (especially the ones who flex their hacked mons in the game). I'd also would like to add that it indeed gives a ton of advantages to the one cheating in their mon, since they don't even invest or go through any of the "normal gameplay" to gain their pokemon. This is again a design problem with the series, but also keep in mind that hacking is the reason behind the obsessive min/maxing, since the devs never wanted anyone to just have 6 ivs pokemon. Imo, hacking harder to justify nowadays but GameFreak fucking needs to get their heads out of their asses and learn that pokemon is not some gacha game. Having random stats for single playthrough is whatever, but for a competitive scene, this is garbage. They could at least just have a mod that "generates" temporary pokemon to test and use them in tournament without wasting time with the broken game's BS

@@charnalk5572I'd much rather have a generated pokemon list people can pull from then let players cheat for the sole purpose of competing. The company is fully right to DQ people who break their rules. But that ca actually solve a lot of problems INCLUDING the issues of gimmick builds. As well as prevent issues like the metonome protest in Korea

@@LucasFleming-lq2ry Exactly. Instead of restricting everyone, they should give the tools for everyone to gen pokemon for tourniments. As Jan said, it's not a problem with the users who are gening pokemon, it's the platform structure for encouraging users to do so. The people who do gen are just trying to get what everyone else brings to the tourniment without wasting the time to train their pokemon. When battling, that doesn't give much if an unfair advantage at all, and if it does then that's a problem that pokemon devs need to solve by allowing it for all instead of punishing those doing what the format encourages.

@@Junnneee What I'm referring too is using preset pokemon. Not genning them so not choosing your own moves, Evs, Ivs, etc. I disagree with cheating period. But they can fix the format to fix the cheatin problem

Not a single person has made an impossible Pokemon through genning and brought it to a tournament. Genning is only used to make the asinine prospect of getting Pokemon manageable for people with a life.

Didn’t see any Verlis content recently, decided to see. It really irks me that all he does it make clickbait hate videos about other creators just to vent about pokemon purism. Seriously, he’s out of touch with why people even like to play competitive pokemon and what’s enjoyable. What a clown. Love your content PChal, keep up the great work!

I am absolutely trash at comp Pokémon, but I actually tried using Brambleghast on a (shitty) team I made because I thought it’s ability sounded good. Emilio Forbes had a similar idea to me. I am now a Pokémon genius. Wish he used it in this tournament :(

I totally get hacked mons and such but I don't see why we can't teambuild faster. Imagine spending hours with hidden abilities, IV's, EV's, Tera farming if it's S/V and then realize you need to switch out a member or two. I will never understand banning generated "legal" pokemon when all they do is save time and is something free available for everyone
