The problem for me whenever I try nuzlockes isn't the actual battles. I often lose members while grinding because I always have videos for me to focus on to keep my sanity intact. That's why I love nuzlocking X, Y, and Alpha Sapphire. They are easy games, but strict nuzlockes makes them a little harder and more fun for me. I really appreciate not losing my Abra to a wild Buizel when it has pursuit. Not fun.

I love how I’m super different from both MandJ and PC with my nuzlocke opinion. For me nuzlockes are all about the story, and getting emotionally attached to my Pokémon is the most important part of that story. It’s the exact same reason why I love watching movies and television shows where you’re favourite characters are very likely going to die. That kinda thing raised investment due to raised story stakes, and there will be payoff whether the character lives or dies, if the character dies it gives me payoff in my strong sadness, and if the live and triumph it gives payoff in such a satisfying conclusion to see the odds having been overcome. The other nice thing about nuzlockes to me is they allow me to feel connected to Pokémon I never would’ve used or thought about before, and that allows me to explore the game even more deeply than I otherwise could. Basically nuzlockes are absolutely amazing, but can be for very different reasons for different people and that makes them even better.

Alternatively, think of it as the opponent's attack having a chance to deal reduced damage, with a crit being the default outcome. A strat that requires the opponent not to land a crit is similar to one that relies on your own attack being a crit, and while a lucky crit (or non-crit) can pull you out of a sticky situation, it's important to avoid those situations to begin with.

Pokèmon Legends Arceus changed my mind about Bidoof. You are forced to catch one (as well as a few other 'mon) as part of your first official mission. I had assumed they would be taken and not made apart of my team. Thought it was a fetch quest but I was wrong. I was going to release him but decided to give him a chance. I left him stay on my team. I normally name my Pokèmon but decided to let him earn it. "Prove to me you deserve a spot on this team. Show me your worth." He more than proved he deserved a shot. I named him Bucky cause of his buck teeth. I wonder if you saw the Bidoof short on the offical Pokèmon channel. It's called Bidoof's Stand or something to that effect.

Friendship evolutions make tons of sense for casual playthroughs. Many players will just have a Pokemon on their team, and it will evolve whenever it evolves. That's totally valid. It's really only in the context of hardcore playthroughs and deliberately grinding a Pokemon to evolve that it seems like a dumb mechanic, let alone a feature that should have never passed QA. But most people don't play the game that way.

I’m honestly fine with either style of play. Obviously I’ve leaned into challenge runs or restrictions as I’ve gotten older, but i can always enjoy a casual play through of any pokemon games. To be fair though, all the viewers had to do with the 12-15 minutes of empty space was look ahead by skipping view the preview button. That's how I find out what some videos are about/contain within the content when the description is short, and the run time goes for over 10 minutes. Or just in general if the video is like 2 hours... or when it's 4-8 hours I just skip ahead a lot by pressing the fast-forward by 10 or 15 seconds button. 4 hours is hard enough, but 8 hours? When there is at least an hour gap break total just left in? Only reason to let that run is if you're doing something else for the 30-40 minutes of just the chat going... or if it takes 20 minutes before it begins.

"Y'all get too attached to your Pokemon. They're pixels." Doesn't _not_ getting attached sort of wreck one of the major reasons Nuzlockes are difficult? Like, duh, lots of people can dismiss getting attached to fictional characters entirely, so they're aren't going to find that to be a difficult thing to deal with. But if you can keep in part of the challenge, why wouldn't ya?

Seeing that intro made me want a video of "normal person who plays games other than pokemon reacts to pro nuzlocker challenge run", where someone reacts to his emerald kaizo video doing commentary in the same way he does but saying things like "that opponent's pokemon looks fat, therefore it probably has good defences and will survive his attack, bad move there" lol

Hmm villain that uses pokemon as tools Giovanni Silver Maxie and Archie Cyrus Ghetsis Lysandre Literally every single evil team beside skull and aether foundation has a leader that has the trope of "I only use pokemon as tools to further my goals" it's not unique it's boring. It's what makes villains like N and Guzma good villains cos they actually have motivation and character to them besides the same trope over and over again

@Michael Fawcett Maxie and Archie share this line: My goals are none of your concern. My crew/team, my pokemon, they are but tools so I can create a new and better world. Top of mt chimney. Cyrus is described like this by his parents (I assume) in sunnyshore city: He was just like any young boy growing up around pokemon, he loved them and said that he wanted to be a strong trainer. As he grew older, Cyrus began to grow more cynical. You could see it with his pokemon, he was tougher, stricter, like he was treating them like tools. Truly awful. Silver's battle in Azalea town after you beat him he mentions that "my pokemon are so weak, all that matters is power and pokemon are a tool for that power, you hear me" then he mentions the slowpoke well and how he hates team rocket and heads off The only one that I was wrong with was Lysandre cos all he Blathers on about is beauty and life all that, he's able to use mega evolution with his gyarados so I should have guessed that he treats them well. All the others I was right with, I would rather that you look into what your talking about before correcting someone. I don't mean that maliciously I was just offering advice.
