Facts I'll never pay to watch poker I love the game but it's more important things to pay for imo
@GaetanoM5 ай бұрын
The current situation with 100 sponsors and partners, and the live streaming still being pay-per-view (PPV), raises many questions about the future growth of poker. It’s nonsense! I think the sponsors will change next year. Let’s consider the impossibility of watching the WSOP Main Event final table live streaming for free, as it's only available for a fee. This decision to offer only a paid option clearly reflects the commercial priorities behind the event. While I understand the need to monetize and support production costs, I believe this decision could alienate a significant portion of the audience. Poker is a sport that needs visibility to grow. Allowing free access to the live streaming of the final table could attract new enthusiasts and keep the existing ones engaged. Sponsors should consider the long-term impact of this decision: the accessibility and popularity of the game could significantly increase with free broadcasting. Next year, I expect sponsors to reflect on these dynamics and consider more inclusive solutions for broadcasting key events. A hybrid model, offering both free and premium options, could be the right path to take. This way, a broader audience base could be ensured while still meeting monetization needs. My 2 cents

Honestly, in what other sport is there a paywall to watch the main event like there is in poker? A few years ago, chess saw a surge in popularity, and since then, the game has only grown more popular because all events are broadcast for free to all viewers. It is unclear who is responsible for this paywall, but it’s time to end this nonsense and start promoting the game in a way that increases its popularity.

We need smarter, less greedy, more open minded thinkers to bring Poker to the mainstream. I hope PokerGO will see the apparent feedback from the community and make changes, or that WSOP will do so. This is all on top of the fact its next to impossible to play Poker online for real money in almost every state because of the casino greed and big lobbyists.

I agree with the people below talking about the pay wall. I’m a practicalist. How can WSOP profit off the stream, while also exposing the game to millions. I was watching Phil Ivey videos a month ago. I just so happen to spoof the algorithm that led to this channel and it was one of the games with Phil and Daniel. I was hooked and wanted more. I was able to afford the monthly. A lot of people are not, and that bug would’ve died, and boom, you just lost a would be customer. Instead I would do a Patreon with exclusive behind the scenes content and interviews. You see that dude with the suit that was interviewing people . Sometimes you cut from the action to show his spots. That whole thing would be on Patreon, and I would have like a poker tips from the pros section where people can go from 10$ a month to 25$ a month just from more content. That’s how you do it. The NBA would never put the NBA finals behind a pay wall. Or maybe, someone like ESPN or Netflix needs to buy WSOP. They have a game, a streaming platform, hmm now I’m curious
