I sure love those RXLs. Noticed you have the one year only "The Cats Back" Eltigre in the background, sure would like to see that old girl on the trail again someday. Thanks again for the videos, this is one of my favorite channels

Thank Darrin! That 85 El Tigre is on the rebuild list. Maybe for over the Summer. Not sure.

Uncle has a 1995 RXL SKS , most expensive Polaris snowmobile in 1995 , his machine still looks like new , washed it after every ride

Sounds like a cool sled.

At 54 all I’ve ever heard through my well known Polaris affinity is OMG those RXL’s are poison !! Endless numbers of times ! lol. And not that they weren’t ahead of their time and that I didn’t always appreciate any manufacturer trying to improve snowmobiling in general ! And I do love seeing them ripping around on occasion but my biggest gripe was something silly : has to have a battery but never seen one with electric start 😂. And I know why but just sayin. At the end of the day im so thankful that the triple movement didn’t stop there ! I wish they’d never stopped across all manufacturers ! And now we’re down TWO manufacturers ! 😳Take care Nutter 🍺🍺

Thanks Tony. I've seen one with elec start. The fuel injection is actually very simple by today's standards. I was afraid of them until I dug into Tommy's.

Hi John! If you don't have any other used polaris fuel pump! You can get a Quantum HFP-PPN19 fuel pump brand new.

Fuel pump pressure should be 43 PSI on most snowmobile fuel pumps. I do know on those old Polaris EFI the battery needs to be fully charged. 14.2 volts. Or they will just sit and idle soon as you give it throttle they will die. This case like you said clearly it's the fuel pump or the pressure regulator. It can't keep pressure. Trick for the first year firecats with the batteryless EFI is put a fuel reducer in line. Leans the fuel out because the fuel mapping on the ECU was rich. 41-42 psi sweet spot is the pressure drop with a reducer in the fuel rail line. All that is. A two way brass barb fitting from the hardware store. Tapped it 6mm thread and screw mikuni 280 or 290 main jet. Cut the fuel line splice it in the fuel line to the rail They will lean the fuel out enough to give you about 8hp on F7. Basically rejetting in a round about way. RXL's I don't know how good the factory fuel mapping was? Like anything factory is going to be rich. They actually ran pretty good for back in the day. As far as running if the battery was charged full. They hardly had issues. Pretty simple system really once you understand how things work. Fast forward 35 years the EFI systems so much they can do with the ECU to control fuel, engine timing and power valve position. Aftermarket boondockers and power commanders. You can dial the fuel every 1000 RPM. For example the Boondockers control how long the injectors stay open by splicing into the voltage single. Basically you plug the sleds injector harness into the Boondocker then Boondocker harness to the injectors. The Boondocker acts as the middle man the way I understand how it works. Then by the controller you set your numbers which is the length of time the injectors spray fuel. It doesnt control fuel pressure just how long the injectors spray. Less spray time leaner. More spray time richer. I got one on a sled. I bought the sled used. I got a lot of money into the engine it was all pre set so I don't mess with the mapping. I probably could get it to run better ! But! Get yourself a pile of melted parts pretty quickly. I have tuning skills. Just don't have the pocket book to sacrifice parts to the God Of Speed 😆. This info might help people understand the system a little better. Keep up the good work guys

Whoa ! Hold up there guys ! I spy a unloved Edge RMK 800 maybe about a '05, looks like a 151 paddle track, sittin there beggin for attention ! Maybe a bad crank ? ( typical ). Time for the double crank bearing upgrade and a trip to Lolo Pass in Idaho for testing. I volenteer for test pilot duty...... spent many a day on my 800 there. 😊
