Your process is a life lesson for us all, even those of us who aren't mechanics. If is an effective combination of common sense, patience, and perseverance. You don''t get angry or frustrated. When you are puzzled, you simply say "hmm" and continue the process until you find the problem and solve it. Kudos to your character. P.S. Keep the test driver on the payroll.

Jade's smile while riding that ATV was priceless! It reminds me of when I brought home a Honda 200, and my wife asked me "what is that?" I said "It's a 4-wheeler". She asked what it was for, which I replied "to ride". We took it to a local off road park, and the bug bit her. She now rides a Big Bear 350, and is an animal in the mud! Fun times!

And the best thing about this machine it made your wife smile and she was having a good time. She gained a lot of confidence and speed as soon as she got used to riding it. Give her time and she will be able to go riding with you when its a lot warmer. Give her credit because she was cold but still kept riding and that shows she was having fun. She's a sweetheart and you are a blessed man. I've been married 52 years and you've got a keeper for life.

Love the way you formatted your yard for test riding, that itself is awesome. Also your hands on and narration of what you are doing is outstanding, You do it so flawlessly anyone could follow along and understand what you are tracing down or trying to uncover. I enjoy looking forward to watching your troubleshooting...

A bit of plastic wending , some filler, and some paint would fix that cracked plastic. One thing I like is how you cover the basics. Check the battery and hook up a jumper pack. See if it cranks, then take the spark plug out, look at the color, put some oil in the cylinder, check for spark and check for compression. Then check the oil levels and condition, check the gas and flow rates, clean out the carburetor, then fire it up. Then you check all the lights and horn, breaks, chain/belts, tires, shocks, and bearings. You just methodically go through everything. I also like that you prefer fixing a wiring problem instead of doing bypasses. Then you usually clean it up. I like that you even buy cosmetic parts and correct clips and bolts for everything to return it to the best shape you can. You are also meticulous when setting gaps, and clearances and rebuilding anything in the engine or transmission. You want it to run like near new condition. I also like that you would rather get a used original or rebuild an original part that just drop in a cheap Chinese part.

I got 2 old motorcycles for free this weekend, clean titles and all. One is a 1983 Yamaha mx100, needs work but I put gas in and it’s running and riding. The other I have a little bit of work to do, 1973 Honda st90. Both are totally original. The 90 I’m suspecting just needs a carb rebuild, fuel lines and a battery.

Always great to get an easy fix free atv. That's great that your wife was riding it pretty good and enjoyed it except for the frigid weather like it is here near St Louis. Was surprised she wasn't wearing gloves and figured her hands had to be getting cold. Great video 👍.
@SBWingsАй бұрын
This was a great find! It's in really good condition. I know this doesn't apply to this ATV but it may apply to your Polaris UTV's. In the oil pressure regulator by the oil filter, there is a metal pin or rod behind a spring that can bind after some time. If the pin binds at one end, it cuts off all oil pressure and the engine self-destructs. If it binds in the other direction, the oil pressure rises so high it can blow the oil filter off. The solution is to remove the pin and replace it with two 5/16" steel ball bearings. The two balls won't bind. Mustie1 recently fixed his. He found it on one of the Polaris forums. Hope this helps someone avoid a blown-up engine.

19:14 (I'm no 2vintage or mechanic [although I did C&G repair and servicing of motor vehicles 30+ years ago but never did anything much with it) - I'll also add I paused the video [so don't know the outcome] but what I spotted was the voltage change when 'brake button' pressed earlier and I'd guess the reason it's not turning over [with current setup] is because the button needs to be pressed also. I suppose some will rip me a new one for jumping the gun...this comment isn't about criticism but maybe just testing my thought process.
