An AGM is a must for these machines....so many complain about the factory batteries being crap but doing this is such an easy solution and improve the electrical system operation.

I also yanked the factory 12v out of my 2016 450 HO EPS (same chassis), after five cold, harsh WI winters, and replaced it with an AGM battery. The demands of a 3500 lb winch (lifting a plow) and an EPS (power steering) unit just murder these those original, underpowered, flooded-style conventional batteries. I am super-glad to have that factory battery out, not only because it performed poorly from day one, but because I dreaded this removal process. You have to tilt the damn thing in some pretty awkward ways to get it outta there, and I was worried about spilling battery acid (luckily my cell plugs stayed put). With an AGM battery, it's completely heat-sealed, so that's no longer a concern. It's truly a crummy place for a battery, and it's even MORE cramped in there if you have an EPS model, because the power steering unit is in the way on the other side, too. Good thing they relocated the battery to where it belongs (under the front rack) a few model years ago.

Thanks for all the comments I definitely noticed an improvement with that battery for sure and I always try to keep it on and off trickle charging like with an automatic charger I love my quad and if you look at the oil change video I didn’t realize I eat the skin actually came off my arm I was burning my arm while changing the oil in the filter off and I didn’t realize that I felt the heat but I didn’t feel bad the skin came off like two days later I could not believe it I’m still looking at the wound be careful with that one

I put a pigtail for the charger connection up on the Bus bar, under the front cover and snaked it out to the headlamp pod.

I would relocate the battery to the rear of the 4 wheeler

Very clean quad! One thing Polaris batteries are known for...losing their life quick!

Quad Logic sells a pretty good battery relocation kit for this, puts it in back where it belongs, easier to get to

Can You Charge an AGM Battery with a Regular Charger? One important thing to keep in mind is that you can't charge an AGM battery using a standard battery charger. This is because AGM batteries have different charging requirements than standard flooded batteries. AGM batteries require a slower, more stable charge than flooded batteries and can't sustain the high charging speeds used by standard battery chargers. If you charge an AGM battery with the wrong type of charger, you will end up under or overcharging your battery. Undercharging can cause sulfation on the battery's plates, reducing its ability to accept a full charge. Overcharging cooks the components inside the battery, which can shorten its lifespan or kill the battery entirely. When shopping for battery chargers, be sure the model you select is compatible with the chemistry and voltage of the battery you'll be using it on. For instance, if you have a 12 volt AGM marine battery, you need a charger that works with 12 volt AGM batteries. Many modern chargers come with settings for a number of different battery types.🤷🏻♂️

Besides relocating make sure you put a battery tender on the Wal-Mart and it will last for years. I am on year 3 with my Walmart battery

The polaris engineer that put the battery down there should be run off. Major PIA to replace the battery, it is not as easy as the make it look, plus changes in the frame cross members make impossible to get two hands in there. Engineers should be made to perform simple maintenance like this, then they will understand what a stupid design they came up with. Battery replacement should take no longer than 15 minutes. And another thing why put a cheap battery that need its water checked in order to maintain it, there no way people are going to go through this BS just to check the water routinely. The motto at Polaris must be "save a buck and aggravate the consumer." Just changed mine out to an AGM battery and the next atv I buy will be maintenance friendly, so I'm guessing it won't be a polaris
