Thank you so much for this! As an older, plus sized, beginner pole dancer, a lot of "beginner" pole exercises are way above my fitness level - which has been very frustrating. I've been going to a studio for about two months, and am about to retake the "Intro to Pole Dancing" class for the third time. It's hard to see girls half my age and half my size progress so much more quickly than I am, but I really do enjoy the sport, so I continue on. I've begun to treat it as a "personal best" program and try to not compare myself so much to others beginning their own journeys. I really hope that you consider an "Absolute Beginner Series," as it doesn't seem that there's much out there geared towards those of us who are literally starting from pretty much nothing. Again, thank you!! :)

Thank you so much for sharing. I feel pretty much like that, although i'm only 23. I've never done any sports before (besides from sporadic zumba or yoga), and all the girls in my class made so much progress, while i'm still, after half a year of poling, not able to do crunches during our warm up. Last monday, for the first time, i panicked and didn't go, because i wasn't able to go for a month now and i also had to change classes. But since i've always thrown my hobbies away when they got a bit frustrating, i didn't wanna do that with pole. So now i'm here, getting my motivation back because of videos and comments like that. Thank you so so so much 💞💞

@@shannyg99 you've got this, that's the beauty of pole, it'll alway be there waiting for you to return back to it, whether if it's a day later or 6 months. Working out whether just using your body or the pole is about a variety of things, so don't feel stressed as even if improvement might not be apparent you will be making progress. There's the strength aspect of it, flexibility aspect, mind body connection, muscle memory as well, and also technique. Sometimes it'll take a little bit of all of these for something to click or maybe just one of them.

I totally agree I am 55 and leaning pole . I have no dance or gymnastics background and although I am fairly fit , I struggle badly with ‘ beginner ‘ moves All teachers out there seem to think that they can teach beginners but every beginner is different and 99 percent of teaching is aimed at the fully conditioned , Uber flexible , previous gymnastics experience ‘ beginner ‘ To me a ‘ beginner ‘ is someone who is new to pole without any of the above superpowers !! Take for example spins - it took me 6 weeks to do a fireman’s spin and I still can’t do a chair spin There is a ton of upper body strength required to do a chair spin but that is barely mentioned in beginner videos The teacher shows how the move works but not how to acquire the muscle strength to do the move ! That’s like showing a non swimmer how to jump off a diving board ! First they need to lean to swim , then to control their breathing etc etc What I did find is that conditioning is the key along with yoga I now do 4 days a week conditioning and 4 days a week yoga and I am progressing Conditioning is basically pole strength training and yoga is the key to flexibility and also requires a fair bit of strength To all true beginners out there - Don’t quit - keep going but be. Selective when choosing ‘ beginner ‘ tutorials

Perfect! I’m a complete beginner. Got a pole for Xmas . Now it’s in my living room. Find some of your beginner videos difficult. I would find a “complete beginner series” a good idea. X

I love this! Just did it before work, but planning on doing it again after work as well. The taps and ins/outs are genius way to build up grip and muscles without over straining my poor arms!

I cant even begin to express how happy I am to see this video!! I am about to start my pole journey & I don’t mind telling you I’m terrified😬 I have always wanted to do all of these amazing aerial sports… but was always told I’m too old, too tall, too thin, too heavy..etc. But I want to fly, I want to be that woman that did it. I’m 47 now, 5’9, thin, have zero gymnastics history & very little upper body strength. With all of those doubts swirling around my head I’ve decided hell with it!! it’s time to stop listening to others and go for it. I’ll be buying my first pole very soon and am prepared to be bruised and very sore, probably ready to give up… but this video & the amazing ppl commenting have given me hope!! I will do it and be a support for anyone else going through this fun journey! 🙏🏻💗 Thank you!!

I am 53 and an absolute beginner. I tried the beginner pole class at my gym but I couldn't understand what the moves were or how to complete them. I saw everyone else catching on and not having any trouble. I was ready to cry as I just couldn't understand it. This will be a great strengthening routine for me. You explained every step you did piece by piece. The only thing I don't understand is what you mean by " pulling the shoulder down" of the high reaching arm.
@Donna-vh5ym11 ай бұрын
Your high reaching arm is the one at the top of the pole. When you're taking your other arm, to the pole to lift up, but use the high reaching arm (that shoulder) has to come down, or you'll be flat up against the pole. If that didn't help, let me know, and I will try to explain it better. It also helps if you let your shoulder down for strength so you're away from the poll. If you lived near me, I'd show ya. I'm in my 60s and have done this a huge part of my life. Good luck. It's really hard to explain like this.

I have always be a fan of conditioning, and I love how you introduce those exercices for beginners. Thank you for this free and quality content ! ❤

You mean slipping off the pole? Clean your pole with an alcohol based detergent (I make my own), clean your hands from sweat/grease and you can use grip aids like dry hands, liquid chalk etc :)
