I drove the Polestar 2 before and was not especially impressed. Here i live with a Polestar a little more. It’s had a big software update to improve range and performance plus other tweaks. This model is NOT fitted with the Performance Pack. Will it be better for it?

As a Swede, the model 3's interior is not Scandinavian. It is plain and cheap. The polestar is a Scandinavian design even though it is not obvious at first. Clean lines, everything that is necessary is there and everything that is un necessary is not present in the interior. Ive been in the volvo xc40 which has a similar interior and the space in that was enough. The tesla's centre console is not that clean actually as it is a crash between different non-matching materials. On a different note, the reason the handels are the way they are is because it prevents them from freezing in cold Scandinavian climates, the tesla handels are know to free in winter here in sweden

Nice comparison of the two. That centre console seems rather large and designed to keep the front occupants apart. The Polestar seems a much bulkier car partly down to it being based on an ICE car with that large front area. The Tesla doesn’t need that massive space under the bonnet and still has a larger froot.

My view - the Tesla wins on efficiency and the charging network. The Polestar wins as a car; it’s quieter on NVH, has a driver display and feels better built. If you don’t drive 200+ daily miles and/or don’t need the Supercharger network, then it’s hard to recommend the Tesla.

Both brilliant cars, both look smart, prefer the driver display and cabin in the Polestar, but the Tesla is more technologically advanced and has a better range, also the Supercharger network is sort of a clincher for me. I'm just not interested in having a motorised boot or motorised anything, or any of the self driving electronics, just adds complexity, extra cost and reduces reliability. My Vaxhall Ampera has electronic door unlock buttons, 3 out of the 4 have broken, they are £200 ea to fix, I've never ever had a problem unlocking doors on any other car I've owned, I'm thinking since EV's are so reliable and last so long manufacturers are adding things that will break and cost a fortune to fix to maintain their income.

I still feel a polestar advantage is buttons, assuming rear passengers can control seats from the rear? I find the tesla way of just a screen is 99% but I do think rear passengers being able to control rear passenger seating just makes sense, miss wiper stalk functions in the tesla and strangely, heated seat button! Menu is a pain to use it. Volvo/assuming polestar have the same way to turn it on os miles better, still via screen but tap drivers heated seat to being up either wheel or seat. We were looking at both... Tesla 3 wins in my mind 👍

I'm a tesla shareholder and first choice would be a Sr model 3 to fit my budget. Tesla gave me a generous offer for my leaf so I was ready to trade up but insurance ost 3 grand to add the mrs! Since test drove a polestar and it's a superb alternative. Insurance is only a couple of hundred more a yr than my leaf for the lower range model (more than enough) with pilot and plus pack added. Its also a bit more affordable than a 3.* tesla pcp has a min of 10k miles a year and I don't even do 6k so am spending extra money. Sure I will get it back at the end of the pcp but better in my pocket. Latest offers trading in my leaf and the optioned polestar comes in at around £450 per month, tesla now £550 after the price hike. My opinion is try them both, throw in another ev to compare and make your decision. From my experience tech and kit wise polestar is one of the few that come close unless you spend stupid money on high end alternatives. *configurator is being updated this coming week so prices and spec may change.

Personally i thought that the Polestar was the better car, but the Model 3 was the better "package". The Polestar wins for me with the hatchback form and think the infotainment interface is better designed (though the Model 3 is really excellent). I also think it looks better and i prefer the Polestar seats. In the end though the range and charging network of the Tesla tipped the balance cos driving round europe in a Tesla is just a lot less stressful than in any other EV. So we bought the Model 3. I also think the Performance Pack on the Polestar is a step backward. The standard version is definitely more comfortable.

Hi Rich, sorry but the cameras are very poor on the Tesla as I am very disappointed, I really miss a 360 camera as I have curbed my wheels. Other items like CarPlay, no heads up display, no Dual internal screens, Saloon style boot has limited space due to the weird opening , navigation is not consistent and the older Tesla's do not have power tailgates

The problem with the two cars occurs when you compare their prices (Norway). Polestar 4WD has 455 km of range and costs the same as a M3 4WD with 612 km range. Both cars are fairly similarly equipped, so it all comes down to practical things like range and space. I’ve tested the newest Model 3 for several days, and only got to test the Polestar for a few hrs. Following were drawbacks for me: - Polestar has about 100 km less range for same price. - Polestar is very crammed, and essentially losing a seat in the rear due to the transmission tunnel isn’t a positive. They’re both brilliant in their own way, but this tipped the scales for me.

Ok no mention that the Polestar 2 has a 360 degrees camera, heated steering wheel and has autopilot like Tesla. Polestar in black stands out so why look at it in a grey colour which is more expensive than the black one? You are buying a Volvo XC40 with the Polestar 2 as it has the same build interior and build quality. Why was the Tesla Model S shown???? Polestar 2 in black looks wise is incredible.

@@RSEV I just dont why a Tesla S was shown in this video. So Polestar is being compared to the Tesla S or the Model 3? Plus why not compare two cars in the same colour? Why not say in the review that this is the colour Polestar gave us even though a black Polestar 2 looks superior to a white Tesla and is cheaper for a lease? The build quality of the Polestar speaks for itself. Its practically a Volvo XC40. Who makes Tesla model 3? Why you review a Polestar 2 in grey as the base model is black colour and any other colour you have to pay a lot more money for?

Tesla need to hire the Polestar’s designer. Tesla have the superior EV platform but the model 3 looks like a melted candle and the war on physical controls goes too far in the model 3, wiper controls belong on a stalk! The Polestar interior is much nicer but the car weighs the same as a small ship and the range suffers accordingly.

It could be me, but I got a strong feeling that the presenter has a rather clear bias towards the Model 3. He was niggling about the smallest of things (that center console does not get in the way, my feet have great resting position and I'm 6'3'') and then was dragging his feet when he had to admit points were the Polestar was better or would just gloss over some of the most obvious strong points (it's a hatchback with superior build quality and a better design)
@CloutCoochy
@CloutCoochy 2 жыл бұрын
Okay... when they were doing the "point" thing on the screen. The score should have been 8.5 polestar to 1 on the tesla because everything he said that was "standard" is still more expensive on the tesla? Just because it's on package in a polestar doesn't mean the point automatically goes to the tesla? What kind of logic is that? The existence of the gauge cluster and everything that provides should be at least 3 points but for sake of argument we'll say it's 1. So without talking about actual driving/range/performance (the same way they did the score on the video): Score is 9.5 Polestar and 1 for the Tesla..... yikes.

Tesla has deleted radar from all of its cars. Polestar can have leather and ventilated seats, Tesla M3 neither. Polestar tire size has lots of runflat all season options, Tesla 3 none. Polestar 2 has SiriusXM, M3 no. P2 free charging for two years, M3 no. At least the M3s I test drove, the brakes had a grinding sound, and the motors could be heard whining, P2 neither was an issue. P2 has a $7500 tax credit, M3 none for now. If you don't need 250+ mile range, the P2 is the clear winner.

I have owned both cars, firstly the M3 for 2 years and now the P2. Here is my view: Polestar Likes: - Looks fab especially with ‘Thunder’ colour choice. - Lovely, quality interior. - Solid, ‘cocoon’ like driving experience (see below). - Strong regen ‘braking’ allowing single pedal drive. - Comfortable for rear passengers - Dash screen with map - Frameless door mirrors - 360 camera view Dislikes: - Lacks Tesla overall ‘Fun factor’. - Despite it’s power, lack of engaged driving experience. Odd accelerator pedal feel: harder to press and not smooth responsive increase in power like the Tesla. The feel of speed is less, the steering is not so crisp 3 and you are more remote from the outside. P2 is just, well like driving a car. - Need more driver adjustment in Semi-auto drive mode ie. pointless so adaptive cruise only useful option. - No ability to watch movies/tv and if there was, the screen is too small for it anyway. Without having watched a movie in a Tesla you would likely think, why would you want to do that?! - Downloadable game completely rubbish compared to Tesla driving car game. - No Fireplace mode. Perfect after a chilly Open Water swim! - No satellite google maps view. - No graphical display of anticipated energy use when navigating to a destination. - No in-car ability to set charging times. - Old fashioned non-flush exterior door handles, cheap old style interior handles and air vents. - No ability to remotely move car forward or back with the key or phone. Useful to gain access to boot if parked close to garage door or in a tight parking space. - Poor rear view. So to sum up : The Polestar is a gorgeous car inside & out, It looks and feels the business! But it’s just a car. In contrast, the Tesla transforms driving from an otherwise mundane A-B necessity into a fun, engaging experience. It made me actually look forward to my daily commute, something which just can’t be overstated.

What about the looks of the Tesla, the Polestar is a far nicer looking car and fit and finish on Tesla’s are awful. The lack of a HUD option and only a central screen for the Model 3 is also a big negative which rarely gets discussed in reviews? However, if you do high mileage the range and supercharger infrastructure makes the Tesla a better choice, otherwise the polestar looks a far nicer car.

@@bidon5037 The CMA platform does allow for a drive shaft but also allows for the floor base to be lower when additional batteries are added into the void left when the Drive shaft is removed. Consequently the Polestar and the XC40 BEV have a lower floor base for the two rear passengers, providing better comfort. Obviously if you are regularly having 3 passengers in the back then the CMA platform will have a significant impact on the central rear passenger. I would not recommend the Polestar 2 if you regularly have 5 in the car.

@@lewisjenkins8238 I know this comment is a bit old, but I’ve been in both vehicles and it’s obvious that the PS2 has far less interior space because it’s not a dedicated EV platform. The transmission tunnel is a big problem but so is the weight and the unnecessary length at the front robbing cabin space. That’s fine, it’s still a very nice vehicle and IMO, a little more practical than the Model 3 with the hatchback. The biggest priblem is the cost with the 2 necessary (IMO) option packs compared to the newest SR+ which goes further on a smaller battery. That makes it harder to justify. My only other gripe is the boring paint. It’s grey or dark grey or silvery grey or greyish gold. OK, I’m exaggerating but it’s just a very “corporate” look. There’s no sporty red or metallic deep blue. So even though I like the looks, I wish they’d been more daring in that department. I’d choose the Kia EV6 over both of them, but looks like it’s going to be horribly overpriced in Australia.
