I think that is teslas biggest problem, the interior quality. It is getting better as seen in the plaid.
@Evan458543 жыл бұрын
I just got back from a polestar test drive and I honestly found interior quality...disappointing. And this was the upgraded version. Many of the materials look much nicer than they feel. And once you start focusing on the details, it sort of falls apart. The grab handles above the passenger front feel very cheap, the vents feel like they will break, the plastic in the rear center vent area hollow and cheap, the wood is very fake feeling/looking in person. The vegan leather seats were looked and felt very nice, but the rest of the materials were not so impressive. Definitely test drive yourself one before judging, you might also be surprised.

@VoxelLoop4 жыл бұрын
Apparently, the transmission hump contains some of the battery cells, Polestar opted for this rather than raising the floor slightly. If you sit in the back of a Model 3 you'll notice the floor is raised up because of the battery pack, in the front, the battery ends before were your feet are so it's not an issue for the driver. @@verbimaarten granted, my experience is from rental cars a few weeks per year (with 250km distances travelled) with first gen leaf/i3 'back in the day and never models more recently as well as my own ev (new i3) since October. That said, I have not yet come upon a station with all charge points out of order. The two closest calls are: one road trip with a model S where I had to wait an hour in line at the Tesla SC (more cars than chargers on a public holiday in Sweden) and at a local groceries store where the ChaDeMo was broken (CCS still fine, but I had a leaf loaner), this wasn't a road trip though, so, no biggy. Back in 2015, it was a bit annoying to travel with the leaf due to the slow charging and short range, but it worked fine. Had to do one longer and one shorter stop for a 300km trip..

Test drove both. Bought the polestar. It feels more solid and handles way better. If you really need a car that goes a second faster in a 0-60 drag race, and feel anxiety over not having the range then good for you but most drivers don’t need anywhere near that speed. The polestar in person is absolutely gorgeous and the interior is noticeably nicer. No gauge cluster in the model 3 was also a huge negative for me. There’s no reason to not have it other than cheapness on teslas part. The piano black throughout the polestar is annoying tho and the seat material isn’t my favorite. Still love teslas but the design is aging. Just my two cents.

tbh, the performance pack Polestar 2 with the Ohlins dampers rides too firmly, considerably too firmly, on rough roads. If you soften it to the softest setting maybe it is OK. But out of the factory, it's too stiff. The regular dampers are better in this regard yet the car still handles great. I feel the steering on the Polestar is better because it's not so twitchy at higher speeds. In real life, driving behind slower drivers as we do in everyday driving, these are firm and quiet cars but have very different characteristics. I prefer the European solidity of the Polestar. As for the cars, I've never had the opportunity to drive any electric vehicle, but I really struggle with the stark interior and unfinished looking front end of the Tesla. I always feel like the Tesla 3 looks like a clay engineering concept model that they painted and sent out the door! The Polestar has a much more finished look to me and car-like interior, but there is no missing the Volvo influence in the styling. Not necessarily a good thing in my book. It doesn't always come down to which one is fastest 0-60 in real world driving, but range is critical in an EV and it sounds like the Polestar has some work to do in that department!

As always great review guys. I agree, get the Model 3 Long Range and invest in performance suspension and brakes. Sorted. One point to remark is that Polestar is still struggling with the tech, yes the Android is great and the tech will improve, but how truly integrated is it with the driving and drive train components? As was proven, the incidental shutdown of power whilst driving couldn't be fixed OTA. It makes you wonder what else can't be fixed OTA, firmware upgrades etc? Jaguar struggled with this as well. Because there is still a divide between the tech and automotive guys at Volvo. This shows through their "self-driving" system, which is effectively a smart cruise control, developed by the automotive team, not the tech teams. Different goals i guess, but if you want a future proof car, better look at from the ground up EVs. Which polestar simply isn't.

Tesla aren't really car manufacturers and it shows fully in their cars, they look cheaply made and not well built at all for the price they are asking. Tesla is like a software maker (in which they totally outdo the competition) that started to build cars. So sure, Teslas might be built from the ground up as EVs, the problem with that argument is they're just not build well or to a high standard.

I have a 2018 Tesla M3P and I like the piano black center console better than the more-ordinary looking refreshed version. My opinion, and I don’t have anyone else in the car to smudge the shiny black. But I love the look and the contrast with the mostly matte interior.

Good comparison! Just would like to see the Imperial or Metric equivalent flashed on the screen when you guys talk about specifications. Especially since you guys are inconsistent with which ones you use. Range was in kilometers but weight was in pounds. I'd love to see the Polestar 2 on the track with a regular Model 3 Dual Motor. Maybe next time?

If they built the m3 with some level of attention to detail and fixed the now very well documented issues in build quality, i'd buy one tomorrow. As is, i'm desperately looking for an alternative. There aren't many now, but it won't be long.

Don't think that is an issue with the late models 3, and you do get it fixed for free. But the early ones did have more panel gaps and problems. Though the newer ones are just as good as other companies. I think it was a GM or Ford director that actually was impressed with the one he saw, as Tesla had really improved it in less than a year, even said it was on pair with theirs. Also look up Monroe here on youtube, he is a engineer that have work with many companies, and he really panned them for it too, until he saw the newer ones. Now he is almost a fanboy :P

@ΌμορφοςΣκυλάκος4 жыл бұрын
No, the early Tesla's didn't blow up, it was just the model S at its 3-5 month old so around the end of 2012. When Tesla noticed it they immediately recalled all the cars and add a metal panel under the batteries because the lithium battery tend to explode when it comes in touch with something else. Also the auto pilot wasn't glitching, it was just learning

Electric cars aren't hard to make, all cars are hard to make. All cars seemingly end up with a recall, it is just bigger news when the EV's do because mainstream EV's are a newish idea. And people are looking for any excuse not to like them.
