Not a cop, but this happened to my friend. Cop pulled him over for speeding. He had a shopping bag in the passenger seat, cop asked what was in it. "Oh just some E's." Guy is cuffed and put in the squad car. Back up arrives, and they look in the bag. It was some of those decorative E's you buy at places like Marshall's. Guy was about to be let go until the backup's dog started barking. Baggy of white powder under the seat. Turns out the guy's girlfriend used his car to buy drugs. He overheard her on the phone wanting to score some E, and did not know that was slang for escasty.

Similar thing happened to a guy who used to work for me. In the late '70s I was a geologist in Wyoming who had a field assistant called "Bob". He was about the best field assistant I ever had but he was a talker. He just could not stand silence and would fill it his own talk. Fast forward to about 6 months later and he and some other hands are at another town a couple hundred miles away working on a project. I drive over to see how they are doing. We go out to the bar but I only have a couple of beers because I have to drive on to another project early the next morning. Bob doesn't roll into the motel room until about 4AM. I asked him what he had been doing (the bars close at 2AM) and he said that some old drunk had tried to sell him his car (Bob had wrecked his previously) and drove him to a state park about 20miles away. I go on to my next project but as soon as I got home I get a call from a detective who asks if I was in town X a day or so ago. I say yes and ask him why. He told me that they had found out that they had found a decessed person at the state park and were checking on any out of towners they could run down. I told him about Bob's coming in late and his explanation. I asked him to let me know if I could hep in any way or let me know how it all turned out. The next morning he called me and told me that Bob had been arrested for murder. He also told me that if Bob has kept his mouth shut they would have never been able to arrest him. He was nothing more than a "person of interest" at that point but he talked himself into custody. It turns out that the victim was "funny" and had had some local encounters that had been hushed up. Apparently, he had driven Bob to the state park and made a pass at him. Apparently Bob "swung both ways" but was in the closet. He panicked because he thought this guy could tell. And knocked him unconcious. To make sure the guy could never talk cut his throut. I had to testify at his trial for both the prosecution and defense. For the prosecution I testified about what had happened that night. And for the defense I testified that Bob amd I lived together in a small trailer out in the field for weeks and he had never come on to me. I had to approach the defense attorney to tell him this. I sat through the rest of the trial after I had testified for the prosecution. Bob was convicted of 2d degree murder and sentenced to IIRC 25-30 years. I was kind of unimpressed with either the prosecution or the defense. I thought that if the prosecution had cone better they could have gotten a conviction for 1st degree murder and if the defense had dome better the conviction would have been for manslaughter. Interestingly enough, a few years later the bottom fell out of geology because of an oil and gas and mineral bust. I had to find another career for the rest of my life. I remembered Bob's trial and though that I could do that and that I could do it better. I went to law school and had a successful career at an attorney. Now, I'm mostly retired. Moral: Keep your d**m mouth shut. You probably won't help yourself and will probably hurt yourself. A foulty memory is your best friend.

Late to the party but... Back in the 80s a local grocery store was robbed by 3 masked men at gunpoint. Employees emptied their registers, all the usual stuff. Three employees, high school students, happened to not be there. Two legitimately had the day off. The third called in sick. The next day one shows up for work on his brand new motorcycle. Another came in his brand new Jeep. I forget what the third had done to give himself away. Now the police would surely, with a little investigation, have strongly suspected there might be a link. But these geniuses just begged to get arrested. It's been 40 years. I wonder what happened to those three.

And this is why you NEVER talk to anyone beyond your lawyer. "I would like to remain silent. I would like to speak with an attorney." That, and your name, possibly address. That's it! No small talk, either! "I don't want to talk about my day."

Man. Y'all fr need to stop talking to cops and letting them in when they ask to search. Ask cops if they have a warrant, and if they say no, walk away or close the door. Close the door to your house if you step outside to talk to them. Leaving your door open allows them to enter, a law that needs to be changed since they don't have a warrant and can apparently enter anyway. And shut up. Don't fucking run.

Hey! I really like your videos and I noticed that you don't have any audio clue to help visually impaired people to know when you are starting a new story. By adding one, you could extend your audience.
