HIGH SPEED PURSUIT on drug dealer in Chrysler 300 - Arkansas State Police PIT MANEUVER ends chase

Trooper's Narrative: On Friday the 20th of December 2024, I, Trooper Chase Landry, observed a Chrysler 300 traveling east on Highway 40 near the 152 mile marker. As I noticed the vehicle, it was exiting the entrance ramp at the 152 mile marker, merging onto Interstate 40, nearly colliding with another vehicle. I began to follow the Chrysler as it changed lanes in a safe manner. The vehicle then headed northbound on U.S. Highway 67, and I observed an Arkansas license plate reading “AUR01R,” which was confirmed to be expired. I initiated a traffic stop by activating my emergency lights. The driver, later identified as Malcolm Curry, exited U.S. Highway 67 at the McCain exit. As Curry approached Warden Road, he was positioned in the left turn lane behind another vehicle. He then illegally maneuvered around that vehicle on the left, crossing into oncoming traffic and running a red light. I activated my sirens and informed Arkansas State Police communications that I was engaged in an active pursuit. Curry continued south on U.S. Highway 67, accelerating rapidly while driving with his lights off. He then traveled west on Interstate 40 at speeds reaching 150 MPH. His driving showed a blatant disregard for the safety of others as he passed vehicles on both the left and right shoulders at high speeds. As Curry progressed onto Interstate 430 southbound, Trooper Brandon Love spotted the vehicle near Rodney Parham. Trooper Tre Davis took over the pursuit at speeds reaching 140 MPH. Curry exited at Colonel Glenn and traveled west. When he attempted to make a left turn onto Lawson Road, he lost control and crashed into a Subaru dealership gate 12121 Colonel Glenn Road, referenced in crash report 202424657 ASP. After the crash, Curry fled on foot but was later apprehended by Trooper Hunter Glover. During an inventory of Curry's vehicle, I discovered a black backpack in the back seat containing: - E1: 2 pounds of suspected marijuana - E2: 14 boxes of PolkaDot psycho-acitve mushrooms, each weighing 4 grams, - E3: 3 bottles containing suspected promethazine, - E4: 47 suspected ecstasy pills. Post-Miranda, I asked Curry about the pills, and he confirmed they were ecstasy. While transporting Curry to Baptist Hospital in Little Rock, Troop David Calvert waited for Walker Wrecker to remove Curry's vehicle from the scene. Once released from the hospital, I transported Curry to Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility, where he faced the following charges: - 27-14-701 Expired tags, - 27-16-802 No driver's license, - 26-70-308 Reckless driving, - 5-75-105: Property unauthorized use, - 5-64-419: Possession of controlled substance Schedule I (two counts), - 5-64-419: Possession of controlled substance Schedule V, - 5-64-419: Possession of controlled substance Schedule VI, - 5-64-424: Possession with purpose to deliver Schedule I (two counts), - 5-64-424: Possession with purpose to deliver Schedule VI, - 5-38-203: Criminal mischief 1st degree, - 5-54-125: Fleeing on foot, - 5-54-125: Fleeing in vehicle - 5-64-443: Possession of drug paraphernalia.

Even if the car tried to move forward instead, it would be at like 5 mph, given the wreck and be easy to catch.
