I like the Orly bonder base but not any of their topcoats. Sweet of you to wear a mani because hubby wanted you too! I get in the mood to wear dark polishes in the Summer months. I’m currently wearing OrlyxKM black with two white nails with black butterflies on them.😂 I try to do seasonal but mostly wear what I’m in the mood for. Wearing this while in a bad mood made me feel better. I usually match my clothing if I’m going out. Great video and never to late when it’s you dear!

I have heard that cuticula has a great matte topcoat. I have used anchor and heart matte topcoat and love but want to try cuticula too. I too am not a fan of orly topcoat or Opi either. Beautiful mani’s for the month of may.

@@elizabethwilders4690 Thank you!! I don't use a matte coat very often so I rarely want to spend money on it. But when I do want to use it I want it to work well and then maybe I actually might start using it more. I have to test out glisten and glow since I already have it. But I do love cuticula's products so I'm sure hers is great as well

I loved the combo your husband chose and yellows look really good on you, IMO The Mooncat House of Hades is just perfection, color wise! 💙 I also really liked that Red Eyed Lacquer Polish. I wonder what color work for a base. I have never worn Orly top coats, I do like the Bonder because it works well for me. But that was back in the day when I would wear polishes for a week or so. No that I wear my polishes every 2-3-4 days I don’t really use it as much. Also I know I may be crazy but I think it stains my nails more… 🤔😆 I think you meant body chemistry, but composition works too. 😊 Also the Orly matte TC could be a bad batch, I had a Zoya matte topper that was awful and no one had issues with it! Turns out it was just my bottle

@@Gotaluvpolish lol. My husband told me the word I was looking for was chemistry. Sometimes I should just stop and Google it real quick when I can't think of the word under pressure while filming but I also don't want to stop filming and lose my train of thought 😜 Also, I thought about something after I filmed this video that I wish I would have brought up that there's a chance it could be my water reacting to that top coat because I have well water so I'll find out when I use the glisten and glow matte top coat if it does the same thing

Hiii Jen! 🤗 Unicorn realm looks AMAZING! I want it!! Yes, that Shining Armor was so surprising (in how easily it lifted my polish) that I thought it must be my fault. 😬 I’m gonna give it away! Anytime I see matte, I’m reminded of the matte neon formulas that Zoya made a few years ago and it sucked (chipped *immediately*). I guess that turned me off the finish and I never wear it. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m interested in your G&G topcoat experience… It’s all sun, all the time now! Woo! Finally!! I’m excited for the shimmery colors to bling off my nails. 🤩

@@das_ein I can't believe it! The sun's finally here! I thought it would never come. I'm so excited to wear sandals and see the sun reflect off my nail polish. 🌞😚 I already have a manicure in mind that I want to try this summer with G&L matte top coat. I'll give you an update soon 😊

I must have gotten a “bad batch” then of House of Hades, but it already left such a bad impression that I’m not gonna bother getting a replacement. Mooncat should do better to keep the formulas consistent!!

@@04ngarcia oh, after I first used House of Hades it definitely put a bad taste in my mouth, but for the sake of the review video I kept it on as long as I could. And I definitely enjoyed the color after the first day 🙃

@@tammy2090 It could be something that's in my routine. Or even something in my water. I did say it's been almost a year since I've used it, but certain things just stay in your routine always. 🤔 So we'll see if I use a different matte coat. If it gets ashy, then I would imagine it has to be my water. I'll have to try it again soon to test this theory 🙂

I’m not a fan of matte polishes, but I do keep a bottle of OPI matte topcoat on hand because I saw a video from nurse Jackie one time that showed a trick about using matte topcoats in between really streaky nail polish, like light pink and yellow, and the colors that just are streaky and usually require four coats. Other than that, I’m just not a fan personally. But it’s a great hack!

I love my Revlon matte top coat, had it for years and it’s great! The only thing is it’s not a quick dry topcoat so I do QDTC first, then matte top coat. I get really good long wear results

I just want to say that I love your videos. I have been binge watching! I love that peony polish on you! I am trialing Orly Bonder Base at the moment and it doesn't stop staining on my nails so only using it up for certain colours now. Going to test Holo Taco long lasting base next..... Mooncat glossy top coat is fab but it does get stringy and thick as you get to the last 3rd. I am not fussed you cannot do live swatching as I cannot either due to back and a leg injury. I cannot sit or stand for long so have to do polish in stages. Your videos are great anyway and your swatch photos are excellent. 😃😃😍😍

I am going to do live swatches for the pr that I get, but the fact that I just got into Indie polish and I'm going down a rabbit hole enjoying finding new stuff. At the moment it would take away some of the joy if I was live swatching everything I purchase, it does become literally a pain in my neck and shoulders 😝 The algorithm has not pointed your channel out to me. I will definitely check it out. ♥️

@@JenniferDufoe I have to say 'Hats Off' to everyone that does nail polish videos as they are so labour intensive. Plus trying to get the photos and the correct lighting is so tricky. Don't cause yourself any pain by swatching as your videos are great as it is as your photos are so good.😊😊👍🏼👍🏼

I’m not a fan of any of the mainstream base or topcoats. All of the topcoats I have tried just aren’t anywhere near as plump or as glossy as my Glisten & Glow quick dry topcoat and Orly bonder makes my polish chip pretty bad. I’ve been on the fence about Fields of Elysium but I’ve heard such good things about it, that I will probably snag it during their Black Friday sale. Love your videos! We have very similar skin tones and curved nails so your reviews are super helpful!

@@jenniferjohnson5821 I think it's literally just me and you 😝 Just kidding but a lot of people really do love binder base. I can't tell if it's because It really does work well for them or if It's just because it's popular so people just buy it. Also, it's nice that it's pretty cheap and people I'm sure don't want to spend their money on base coats because that's boring, but my nails chip easily if I don't have good quality products that work well with my body 🙂

Base and top coats are hard! I love Orly Bonder base coat - it works great for me - but like you mentioned, everyone’s body chemistry is different. But for top coat, I don’t like any main stream brands other than the OPI matte top coat.

@@PolishObsessed79 I've actually watched a few KZbin videos praising opi's fast dry top coat. I haven't tried it in years. I imagine the formula is different but at this point I have so many really good quality top coats. I decided that I don't need to try anymore..... But I probably still will 😝

@@tammy2090 I have a little bit of peeling with some of my nails, but this has them all peeling and the surface of my nails looked so dry. Also, noticed some nail lifting on the edges.

​@Purplenpinkk , lifting of the polish or nail bed? The problem I had was lifting of all my nail beds (Onycholysis). I was using OPI Repair mode at the time under my manicures per instructions and Bonder was my base. I had peeling and dryness before that though, onset of menopause may be a factor for me. I discontinued use of Repair Mode but sometimes still use bonder. I find original Nail Envy under my base helps my nail health and growth. Nail Envy does dry agonizing slow though 😒

I've never used bonder for any length of time. It doesn't work well on me as a base coat so I couldn't say if it would have messed up my nails or not. But at least you know it doesn't work for you and you can move on to better things.

@@AmyLSchulte yeah, I haven't found anything that's like the magic potion of base coats. I just think some are bad and then others just work better. I've heard that if your nails naturally absorb more water than others, they are more likely to chip and that's what I think is the case with me, so I always wear gloves every time I do dishes or else I will get chips right away, no matter what base coat top coat I'm wearing.

@@JenniferDufoe I’ve used Seche off and on for years and I also have about 6 different Nail Aid strengtheners that I use sometimes as base and top coats. I have finally within the last year been more consistent in using dishwashing gloves and I’m sure that’s helping.

Hey ladies, just in case you haven't tried, I have tried both the Cutila and G&G base coats, and they both wear great on me. So I recommend those if you haven't tried them.
