My maternal grandmother was from Poland. When I was a child I ate here apple cake and loved it. When she died I was 13. The family had several of her recipes but not for the apple cake. I am now 81 and have been looking for the receipt for many years. Today, I found it! Thank you so much for sharing your recipe with me and so many others, I can’t wait to taste this long awaited childhood delight once again. Adryenn from CA and NM.

My Baba was my culinary inspiration and taught me everything I know. I carry on her legacy through our family recipes from Poland/Slovakia. When she was passing, she and i hugged and she told me “you make better Pierogi than me you little b@$?!” She laughed kissed my cheek and that was my last memory of her. 😭😭😭😭I miss her every day. 💖

I follow you with many instructions here. It’s very first time that I’ve made this Apple cake. It’s in the oven & will update this when it’s done. Keeping my fingers crossed & tummy ready to taste it Just FYI,I’m almost 80 , 5’ ,110lbs & could not possibly roll the dough like you ,with all of my old Polish strength . I used my White Marble Rolling Pin & am happy to tell all your clients & you that - with it ,one does not need to apply any weight or strength .😂. ❤ Merry Christmas to everybody . Update, the szarlotka turned out fab. Little too thick with apples, the crumbly dough is also fabulous ,taste is numero uno ,second to none.👍👍👍 Thank you so very much for telling the viewers not to pre bake the bottom layer .👍 Problem? My family placed 1/2 of the leftover cake in the airtight container in the frig & now the crumbly cake is like store bought, soggy . Needless to say it broke my heart.

I enjoy listening and watching you make your recipes. I remember eating this apple cake as a child but I think it came from the Polish Bakery near us and not homemade. I will definitely try to make it because it sounds and looks delicious. I was born in Poland and came here with my mom as a child. Went back several years back to see the village I was born in (Konstantow) located south of Lublin, visited my cousins in Sczcecin and traveled all around the country. Poland is beautiful!!

Holy COW! As a man who loves apple pie, and any kind of cobbler this looks like where the two meet. I've never had or even heard of this, but I'm gonna have to make this one day. I just found you by looking for tips on choosing Polish Sausage, and watched a video you did explaining some. It was helpful, and I'll be definitely getting some of that mustard. I have recently started going to a Polish market near me weekly, for Kabanos and it has sparked my curiosity for Polish cuisine. Btw, you and your husband do a fine job with the videos they are entertaining and informative 👍

I am half Polish and grew up in Greenpoint , Brooklyn NY. Which is known as “Little Poland”......lots of Polish butchers and the best kielbasi you can find! Here in New Jersey, my favorite apple for pies, etc. is the Baldwin. We had all kinds of Baldwin trees on my Grandmother's farm. The Baldwin is an old time apple that would keep for a long time once picked. It is a tart apple. Unfortunately, this apple is becoming hard to find.

Anyone complaining your videos are too long, has no clue how to cook in my opinion. You learn how to cook by hanging out with babcia in the kitchen...babbling the whole time. That's when babcia tells you her secrets. Thank you for doing these videos. My dad's family was put into slave labor camp during WW2, but were lucky enough to be helped to come to the USA. I spent many hours when I was young with my aunt and babcia....but no one wrote anything down, and now that I am older, watching your videos brings back good memories and how to do some of these old recipes I have forgotten. Don't change a thing you are doing.
