Douglas Ross announced he'll quit as the Scottish Conservative leader after the General Election. His surprise move came amid a row over his decision to become the Tory candidate in the seat of Aberdeenshire North and Moray East, instead of the former minister David Duguid, who was effectively de-selected by his party while unwell in hospital.
Mr Ross originally wanted to continue to serve as a Highlands MSP and party leader while also an MP. But after a re-think he says that, if he's re-elected to Westminster, he will resign from Holyrood.
This is a testing time for the politician, who's also been facing newspaper claims he used Westminster expenses to travel in his role as a football linesman.
Douglas Ross spoke to STV's Political Editor Colin Mackay about his decision.
