I thought as a Labour supporter they where all reasonable. I think the thing we do is is create people as the enemy. I'm on the frontline running a charity who helps the most vulnerable and although the advice wasn't great, no one has any, it's the government job. And all of the Lib Dems mp's voted against the Iraq war, a load of Labour mp's voted against the Iraq war, including Jeremy Corbyn. But all of the tory mp's voted in favour of the Iraq war, bar just one who abstained. And what about the Falklands war, which could have so easily been avoided if thatcher had taken notice of the MOD adviser who told her to send the Ark Royal aircraft carrier, along with back up down to the Falklands well before the Argentinians invaded. Then you don't talk to enough people. I'm working class I build things. I vote conservative because I'm self employed and we don't get any sick of holiday pay. We have to make our own luck. Most people in my position are the same. We are not rich or insulated from anything!
@joisagirlsname
@joisagirlsname Жыл бұрын
@@williamsulman2646 having wealth ultra concentrated in an ever-diminishing pool of hands is the exact opposite of optimal conditions to run a small business in. Left wing political parties are better economic managers than the right in ANY western country. Wealth does not trickle down from the wealthy to the poor: it trickles up from the poor to the wealthy by the mechanism of debt and increases in production efficiency without paying labour (which creates the value in society) a fair representative compensation for that labour, by means of theft as well as wage stagnation. If you don't understand those three economic fundamentals, you're well insulated against economic realities, whether that's through ignorance or privilege, I couldn't say. Tories have run the economy into the absolute ditch over the last 12 years. Who is actually better off now than they were in 2010?

@Ксенія♡укр I hink it has changed somewhat already. We're all heading for a an almighty Sh*t storm that will eventually lead to prolonged stagflation (which would make a deep recession look like a picnic by comparison). So I would be expecting the Tories to be tightening the purse strings about now, but they're not. They're currently on a borrowing spree! So I can't decide if this is incompetence or a strategy that embraces what is seen as the inevitable. A "We'll play them at their own game whatever the cost, so long as we win the next election" strategy. Regardless, the Tories are the ONLY ones acting out of character here, and that in itself is a dramatic change in British politics. It'll be interesting to see how long they keep this up.

Not going to lie, this gives me a bit of hope. This is a great sign that there are yet people who can believe differently to me but with whom I could reasonably negotiate. It's far too easy to fall into tribalism on either side of the aisle and seeing that there are yet tory supporters who are willing to agree with left wingers over certain things as a big positive

A lot of the problems started when High Street banks introduced overdrafts on current accounts in about 1984. That never used to happen and it doesn't happen today in France, Germany or Spain, where if you need to borrow, you take out a loan! People were enticed into easy debt, with the banks acting like drug peddlers. It became 'normal' to go into the red, and banks then cleaned up by whacking huge fees and ridiculous interest on customers who strayed without permission. For those who get (surprise surprise) a poor credit rating, along come credit cards and failing that, Wonga and Co. Absolute sharks.

@@andrewmarshall9340 Whilst you are not wrong that is not the biggest problem with banks. Look on YT for 'money as debt' and prepare to gobsmacked

It helps to understand that for many people life isn't a search for happiness, it's a search for someone willing to tell them what they want to hear. Once these people have their comfort opinion externalised by another party they will stop the search and build defences around it. It's a form of keeping fear at bay, feeling secure, and it can be very successful if no particularly or immediately dangerous ignorance is held. It works until it doesn't, which lets it spread like any other behaviour.

I used to think that Harry Enfield’s “Tim nice but dim “ was a make believe character but after seeing this I realise that his ilk really exists! Some people actually care about society and become porters, teachers, care workers, fire fighters, refuse collectors etc and should be well paid to create the base for a stable society. Ultra rich people don’t need any more help; that’s why we have a trickle up economy! Since the 1970s ASLEF and RMT have fought well for decent wages for some of their members and even they haven’t kept up with inflation. Since David Cameron was prime minister the average UK person’s spending power has fallen compared to the French, Germans, Dutch, Australians, Canadians etc. and on average we would need to earn £8,800 per annum extra to catch back up according to IFS and OECD! These figures were compiled before the energy increases! A bloke said that his parents came to the UK with £500 so what! When did they arrive and what support / connections did they have? If it was the 1960s for example that would have been a lot of money! Just because most people aren’t banker or property developer types they seem to patronise them.

I can't help feeling uncle Rupert has had more influence on my old man than his own flesh and blood though. I have never been a Conservative, but I believe we need genuine Conservative voices at the table for healthy political discourse. That said, the Tories are no longer Conservative in any sense of the word. They used to stand for the business backbone of the country, for law and order, for tradition, which I can respect up to a point. But over the past 12 years or so, the Tory regime has lurched to the right, supporting policies that were previously shunned by the mainstream and heralded by the Nation Front and the British National Party. Infrastructure has been ripped away (social care, NHS, rail and post privatisation, austerity), businesses pushed abroad (Brexit), and now the UK is suffering from a needless cost of living crisis because of policies that allow company board members and shareholders to hoard all the cash while people in the middle bracket have been pulled down into poverty and those who were already there are even worse off or dead. A change is required and the Green Party can deliver it, but voters poo poo them for being too small. What we need is a GreenieMcGreen Face movement!

And the Labour Party is not anti enterprise it just wants more people to be treated fairly and not exploited. And the young woman who says that most young people are concerned about climate change does not see herself as one of those people. Why? Is she missing something? How are her children going to feel when facing all the hardships to health and indeed life, brought about because of climate change going to view this clip of their mother, effectively washing her hands of others trying to make her children safer?

There is such cognitive disonence. Most of them identify the issues: public ownership, cost of living and environment. But then think that the Conservative party are the ones to deliver on it. Bizarre to me.

Notice all but 2 of the people gave individual solutions to a national problem, the naivety and ego to think people will not have tried those simple things. It's on the level of drunk down the pub no one listens to.

They are narcissists, covert psychopaths and they feel so bonded with the system (they're proud of it) . Their system and the social issues it creates is the result of calculated and coordinated efforts. The system has the same characteristics they possess narcissism, delusion and denial. The system is the embodiment of them and vice versa.

It's because there are only individual solutions to your problems. You can reduce outgoings and increase incomings, that's it. Any partt or group who pretends that there is some kind of collectivist solution is lying and giving false hope. This reality is something you have to come to terms with as early as possible to become an adult.
