As the Commons debated whether to accept the findings of the Privileges Committee report into Boris Johnson misleading Parliament over Partygate, we were treated to some absolutely unhinged contributions from some Conservative MPs who are inexplicably still on team BoJo.

Very worrying, Tories had the audacity to drag our NHS nurses through courts.
@adrianhjordan1981
@adrianhjordan1981 Жыл бұрын
I absolutely support the nurses (and Doctors and all my NHS colleagues) but I do believe that the RCN knew that the strike date was illegal and judged that either the government would take them to court, which results in Tories taking Nurses to court - bad look for the government, or results in the government not dating to do so and the nurses getting the full strike. The cynic in me thinks that they hoped for it to go to court though as it certainly helped with awareness and didn't gain the government many supporters!!

@@adrianhjordan1981I don't believe the RCN had a choice, after 12 years of Tory austerity slashed the basic wages of everyone outside the upper echelons of business to the point where the rise in the cost of living became a crisis for the majority. The intransigence of the Tory government and their refusal to negotiate with all groups looking to protect their members led to the consequences we observed. Strange that the Scottish parliament could negotiate with teaches, nurse, rail workers etc and largely avoid the strikes that plagued our southern brethren 🤔🙄🥴🙉🙈🙊

He was clearly reading verbatim what a lawyer had said which was basically ‘a-ha, but look at this loophole I found.’ His claim was that the vote to initiate the investigation was based on the statement that Boris had lied, but to initiate the investigation, you have to knowingly lie.. so even though he was found to knowingly lie, Bill is saying that because it started from the statement that Boris lied, it means the outcome of the investigation is null and void.. great attempt at a last ditch effort to discredit the report but not quite enough!

None of them are bright. They ALL treat the voters with discontempt. They all lie. Some are more blatant than others. There is also inconsistency between the police forces in the UK with regards to being fined for breaches of lockdown. The met police are hackhanded and fining people left right and centre whereas Durham police do not fine for breaches of lockdown. Every one knows keir starmet and angels rayner breached lockdown in Durham but did not get fined otherwise Dominic Cummings would have been fine. Wonder if the met police would have fined keir starmer and Angela rayner if beergate happened in London? Plus these two lied to the public and parliament about her attendance in Durham. Will Harriet harman carry out an investigation on that?

Johnson was so confident in his position having seen the report in confidence he resigned and ran. The 90 day suspension was in large part due to his advanced unapproved disclosure of the report to the press. He's a coward and liar, and the MP's who found it convenient to be elsewhere for the vote show the contempt they have for Parliament and the British people. Brexit was in part about Parliamentary sovereignty and today Johnson saw that in action. I'm not sure that's what the leave campaign meant when they came up with the slogan, any more than the 350million on the side of the bus for the NHS.

How can we follow the rules & laws set forth to govern us, if they will not follow them, if they feel they are above them, and should not be held to account for the egregious breach of laws, rules set forth for our safety, and the trust placed with them.

So if perception is the point on which they're basing their argument it follows in their logic that Johnson should not be found guilty of misleading parliament because his perception was that he was not at a party. My question would be "So why would you serve in the government and follow an imbecile? As only an imbecile would not have recognised the gathering with copious amounts of alcohol as a party."
