Some really big greenhouse around here have bee colonies inside to pollinate for them, but we don’t have enough plants. Bees like to come into our high tunnel in the summer though.

We used to use a tooth brush but now just take a stick and tap the side of the stems and watch the pollen fall. It is very fast and easy. :)

Just use a plastic pipe to gently vibrate the string above the tomatoes rather than individually shaking each truss. I have used the vibrating pollinator, mind numbing job . Impressive NFT set up, particularly with such a range of crops.

Yay for new seed planting soon and I can’t wait to see the peppers grow and the néw lettuce as well. The bib lettuce looks great as well as the bok choy even though it got dry once it’s still a champ. Love the video and the reminder to pollinate my tomatoes soon. They have shot up five inches in three days 🤦‍♀️🤣 it’s awesome but they have definitely exceeded the dwarf midget growth stage stated in the packs and informational s about them. From what I’ve read it’s because I allowed them enough room to grow bigger but they are starting to form the cluster flowers so they should be about done getting taller. I measured them at 19& 15 inches tonight which isn’t bad by any means but a little taller then the suggested growth rate of about it 6-8 inches tall lol 😂. I can’t wait till they finish

Hi. Me again. Always listen to your mom! lol. Question: I never pollinate my tomatoes, the bees come in and seem to do just fine> I do have a spare elec. toothbrush lying around though:) So maybe I will do an experiment. Also, when I cut off my suckers, I put them in a Mason jar of nutrient solution and they root in a few days, then I just plant them in another Dutch bucket. I usually plant 4-6 plants in each green house to start and then use suckers for the rest. I even give them away to friends cause the goats won't eat the tomato waste:). I like Rex lettuce and Muir, and baby Romaine. I am going to do pickling cukes in buckets this year. Do GHOST PEPPERS, the hottest. But wear gloves, face shield when picking:) Ask me how I know. lol. Local eateries use them for making "sauce". Well that 100 acre monster made me feel tiny. Wow. Sorry so long winded, I may be a talker, and really like this channel!

We've done the same if we want to start another crop faster. Pickling cukes will be cool. We've thought about trying them. Everything you guys grow look amazing! The Flowers on the tomato plants are huge..... and have such white teeth 😄😄. Thanks for showing the automated green house. Simply amazing. Their orchids looked fantastic. I also grow habinaros. Too hot to eat straight but I use them along with jalapeños when I can green beans and asparagus. Very very tasty and go extremely well in bloody Mary's. I do have a question: I noticed you keep your seeds in a small fridge. What temperature do you keep the fridge at? Hahaha thank you so much! I thought the orchid greenhouse was so cool and I can’t believe how big it is. I’m the same way with the hot peppers, but I love using just a bit for cooking. The seed fridge is about 45 F and it really helps prolong the life of the seeds.

Greetings from Trinidad & Tobago, where the Trinidad (Moruga) Scorpion Pepper originated. Just wanted to let you know that peppers cross pollinate and you should grow peppers in isolation from other species. The Agri production guide in my country recommends keeping different pepper species at least 1/2 mile (1km) from each other to prevent non-spicy peppers (like Pimento Peppers, Sweet Chlil Peppers) from cross pollinating with the Scotch Bonnet, Scorpion and Seven-Pot Peppers which are all very hot. Thank you so much! They are from CropKing yes and we like them a lot. They are holding up well and really easy to clean. Katy has rooted suckers before and it worked pretty well. I think she did some orange tomatoes and some red cherry tomatoes.

Hi Paul we are doing well. Just started on the maple trees today. Syrup season seems to be the transition from winter to spring around here so I’m happy about that. How are things there? Are things starting to open up at all? The temperature stays around 22C during the day and 18C at night this time of year. Light is a big factor for the tomatoes. We had a gloomy start to the year, but the past couple weeks have had quite a few sunny days and the tomatoes really took off. Hope that helps and I’m still planning on trying your method with burying the stem once we can plant outside. Hope you have a great day! -Devon

@@HomegrownPassion thankyou devon yes we are opening schools are all opening in early March then in April all shops will be open and 21st June everything will be back to normal .everyone vulnerable or over 50 have had a covid jab and I have had one too .its no big deal your arm aches abit for 2 days and I felt a little cold and sick tired for a few hrs but its nothing really and I advise everyone take it .im looking forward to growing my tomatos soon and ill start soon .I've peas broad beans carrots lettuice reddish potatoes outside but tomatoes ive grown for many years so really enjoy growing them. After you explaining how you almost lopped off the end of your finger, I cringed every time you cut off one of the suckers on the tomatoes. How big (horsepower) is the pump that runs the main greenhouse and do you have a backup in case of failure or generator if power goes down.

Nope I was disappointed the camera didn't pick it up, but as long as I touch the flower cluster stem, then a puff of pollen will come out. So far we haven't had any issues doing it that way.

Oasis because it’s cheaper, there’s more cubes per sheet and easier to put in the channels.
