I couldn’t agree more. I was at a record shop buying the Dark Side Of The Moon anniversary edition and the employee said ‘good to see you’re buying the right Pink Floyd album. The Wall is too political.’ Thus ensued a long debate about the two albums. I essentially tried to make the same point you made above as it is an incredibly well produced and assembled album, a true concept album before these existed. I love both albums but The Wall is in a league of its own.

If you didn’t catch it,Gilmour sang the beginning part of this song and Roger Waters finishes the back end . For me ,it symbolizes the struggle between asking for help and then desperately crying out for help. Both sang this song beautifully.

Most unique sound of all time that nobody has been able to recreate or steal even though we've all tried. Amazing lyrics. Catchy while also being avant garde and "out there". Pink Floyd are known for their concept albums, so you smoke up, put your headphones on, lean back, and press play for the total experience. Each of the songs represent synergy at its finest. Dude, welcome to my youth. When listening to Floyd. It must be taken as a concept album Polo. This is the youth of my music and why I became a lead guitarist, bassist and drummer. My influence's of lead are Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton & Duane Allman. My bass influence's are Jack Bruce, John Paul Jones, Geezer Butler Geddy Lee & Paul Paul McCartney. Drums🥁 include Neil Peart, John Bonzo Bonham and Carl Palmer. Floyd have concept albums. The problem is you can't isolate one song specifically "The Wall" album. All through it. The idea of the fictional character Pink is building a wall psychologically. Every song mentions it. In this one " the wall was too high as you can see" please look for the wall reference in all the songs on this album. Plus, you have to see the movie. It helps. Keep rocking on Polo. 😎🎸🎼🎸🎶

Love your reactions, fast becoming one of my favorites. You are a music lover and glad to see you enjoying PF as much as the rest of us Floydians. You also look like you're in the right settings to listen to them, lol. IMO, best band ever! Been a fan of theirs pretty much from their start, and yes that means I'm now getting old but it's very refreshing to see the younger generation appreciate good music. Have seen them live a number of times and had to see Pulse concert twice, it was that good. These guys had an insane amount of talent!!

I just watched a documentary on Tom Hank's Castaway. In the scene where he makes fire they taught him how to make a fire by rubbing materials etc. Then they filmed his first attempt until he got it lit. It took like 4 hours, if I remember right, but a really long time. So that reaction Hanks shows is absolutely legitimate excitement at FINALLY getting that fire lit after hours of trying.

I never knew a time without pink floyd. Learning to fly on vinyl when i was 5 or maybe even 4. My auntie had a acid/country taste and i loved staying with her. Now im sharing those with my kids and nieces and nephews like she did for me.

The AMAZING thing about Pink Floyd's album The Wall, is that it is actually one long story. Watch the movie and you'll understand.

Love it! I love seeing someone feel the same thing I felt when I was a kid. The world just seems larger and your eyes and ears seems completely open. Glad you dug that one. Most all of their stuff does that for me

David, in addition to singing the first half and that epic solo midway through, also plays the fretless bass on this track. Strangely it is that bass that really drew me into this song the first few times I heard it, and still. The fretless just has this, well by definition it loose and bendy, which is what David does so perfectly.

A dear friend ended his own life in 2006. Like losing a brother. I know that he had nursed both his parents through cancer & missed them so deeply. A few beers at a Clutch or Tool show & he would open up. ( I miss my "Gig buddy" ) The lyric that NAILS ME every time is, "Open your heart I'm coming home". Sleep well, brother.

I was one of the first in line to buy this album when it first came out. When I listened to it I was in my dark bedroom with candles lit also. The only difference was I was tripping on acid. I would be lying if I said it didn’t change me.
