"They're here." Fun Fact: Heather O'Rourke kept the pet goldfish Carol Anne has in the film. Bonus Fact: The hands which pull the flesh off the investigator's face in the bathroom mirror were the film's producer, Steven Spielberg. Bonus Fact: The shot of the chairs that position themselves in the amazing balancing act on the table was all done in one take. As the camera panned along with JoBeth Williams, who was getting some cleaning materials, several crew members quickly set an already organized pyramid of chairs on the table, then took the single chairs away before the camera scrolled back. The table is off-screen only seven seconds. The chrome toaster on the kitchen counter reflects the crew switching the chair arrangement. Moreover, the leaves of the plant in the corner get disturbed.

Yeah I heard about how they did the chairs, and after watching the movie again I noticed the leafs on the plant moving from one of the crew members

this is back when TV channels weren't 24/7, there was a time they shut off. the National Anthem would play as a signal, then it would just display static until the morning. the ghosts, however, were not a usual feature

Regarding the NATIONAL ANTHEM :P In the old days (70's-80's) TV went off the air at midnight (roughly). The last thing played was the National Anthem and then the TV would go to static until roughly 5 or 6am. And yes, TV remote controls could be on the same signal. They were very simple InfraRed and people with the same TV model all had the same remote and signal.

To answer your question. While fish do not sleep in the same way that land mammals sleep, most fish do rest. Research shows that fish may reduce their activity and metabolism while remaining alert to danger. Some fish float in place, some wedge themselves into a secure spot in the mud or coral, and some even locate a suitable nest.

The teenage daughter was played by Dominique Dunne who was strangled by her ex-boyfriend & died a few days later. That whole thing was super messed up as he was charged w "voluntary manslaughter" & only served a few years in jail before being released. Huge travesty of justice there (still mad). It was this combination that made people start calling the movie cursed. Then 6 years later, Heather O'Rourke died from a bowel obstruction. The rest are either still alive or lived normal length of lives.

I saw this movie when I was two yrs old. In apartment that was across from a cemetery. Yes we had activity in the apt! My mother used to see a little boy running around when she was all alone. Once, she set my newborn bro down for a nap in our bedroom and he started crying a bit later. She went to check on him and the door was suddenly shut and wouldn’t open! When she finally got it open, my little Playschool kitchen was jammed up against the door and my bro had a blanket over his whole body. 😳 We also survived the 94’ Northridge, California quake in that apt. I thought it was ghosts at first 😅

You know what's the craziest thing about this movie? People watched this with their little kids on TV, because that's what we did, watch TV with our kids. This is how I experienced movies like Alien, Poltergeist and Nightmare on Elm Street, by watching it as a little kid with my parents. And then talk about it with my classmates at school, who've also watched it. Plus, Steven Spielberg wanted this to be a movie for the entire family to enjoy. That's why it's rather 'tame' for a horror movie. Before you ask if I'm still sane, of course I am. The people diagnosing us are the same psychiatrists who've watched these movies as a kid as well, so they're not biased ;)

The house being sucked in was pretty cool. ILM built a scale model of the house (which was still pretty huge, apparently it included miniature interior furniture) on top of an industrial vacuum turbine. They shot it from above and over-cranked the the film at an astonishingly high frame rate, then literally blasted the house model with shotguns to destroy it so it would get sucked in. When they ran the film at normal speed, you get the slow-motion destruction and compression in the film. It was one of those "we only get to do one take of this" shots and they got it.

Just found your page. Funny stuff mister! BTW that Simpson's episode you mentioned was based on a Twilight Zone episode called "Little Girl Lost'. That episode of the Twilight Zone inspired Poltergeist. Good eye you got!

Don't know if anyone else has said but when she fell in the pool and the skeletons popped up, they were real skeletons

I never was a big fan of Polgergiest, but the special effects were pretty cool.

I love all these movies the little girl scared the s*** out of me! And the second one I personally think is the best that old man still scares me to this day and that creepy song that he sings!

Could be like that guy in impractical jokers his fish died and he kept it in the freezer and still got it. They played a prank on him in one episode where they're selling popsicle and told him look inside and they had took his bird from home and put it in there lol.
