Polyethylene Tarp - Grommet Reinforcement & Repair

Here in Texas on Thursday 10/28/2021 there were gusts of wind that were hitting 60 mph at times and it was really messing with a tarp that I have set up on the backyard patio awning 🤪 LOL Because I reinforce some grommets on the tarp the wind only pulled out one, I'm showing how I reinforce the grommets and how I repair the one that got pulled out by the wind.

Made some 1-3/4" outside diameter fender type washers from the side walls of a Clorox bleach bottle. Sandwiched the tarp between 2 of the washers and set them with a brass grommet. Never had a grommet failure using this method of reinforcement.

I have had that vid open for six months now-and finally made it! Could finally view it. Very useful tip. I was wondering if a solder Iron to create the hole to get the screw through might have stopped the hole from eventually fraying-further extending the use time. Not sure if the potential extension of the usage time outweighs the stinky and probably spoiled tip of the soldering Iron ;-) Anyway, lets hope you get back to sunshine over there! I start to feel a bit alive again! Back to more of your videos! Stay safe!

They sure are Terry 👍 The Lexan parts have already helped one tarp live 3x longer than it normally would have, I probably won't have to replace this tarp until next Spring 🤪 LOL Thanks Terry 😉 BTW.....I got the 'Screws' in and put a Photo in a 'Community Post' especially for you to see 😉 Don't know if you ever noticed it or not 🤔 Your going to get a *BIG* mention in the next video 👍 You have a good one up there guy, be safe and stay warm too 👍

A good fix, I like it! Wipe your poles with Linseed oil will slow them rusting up. Sorry to be late to view the video, like you mentioned, for some reason I'm not seeing all my subscriptions.

Yes I could have, but when the tarp goes completely bad, the way I do it now with screws, I can remove them and put them on another new tarp without having to go to a lot of trouble 👍 With 'Rivets' I would have to *Cut* them off, with screws....well need I say more 😜 LOL Thanks for trying to help though 👍
