Today I try out porcelain clay for the first time. I share with you guys my thoughts and how I initially feel on porcelain clay VS polymer clay. I will continue to use this clay, as I do have lots of things I like about it. I will continue to update as I use this more and gain more knowledge in it.

To stick porcelain clay pieces together, you can use liquid clay or white glue. It doesn't stick together by itself.

Thank you for this review! I have seen people make amazing figures and flowers and whatnot with this stuff but I too love my polymerclay. I might buy this to use on unbakeable things but not as a replacement.

Yeah, definitely not a replacement. But it is fun. I don’t know how people work with something so soft. I hands are much to harsh for that lol.

Have you ever tried Modena from Japan? It is a cold porcelain clay that is not as soft so easier to work with.

Good review. TurtleBeadSoup tried an experiment with a homemade porcelain clay. It shrinks while drying, but was beautiful when dried. Thank you.

Great video. I would love to try this out sometime. I think this would work really well when I am making clay pieces that attach to other projects that can’t go in the oven. (Like Worbla or action figure customization.)

Yes! And it was cool that it did attach to the polymer clay when I was working with it, but it wasn’t until it was cured that it came off. It does seem really versatile.

You didn't make it yourself? I thought that was the point of the cold porcelain clay.

I’ve never used poster paint, but I imagine acrylic paint should be totally fine.

@@trenonights6635 I should add that the main point is that its very cheap and so you can make large items and dont have to stick to tiny charms. It does shrink a bit when its home made and often dries darker when coloured with acrylic(I cant say for other types of colouring because Ive only ever used acrylic paints). If it gets a little dry you can knead in a little handcream. Definitely something that gets better with practice....so dont get put off by your first attempt. It being so cheap, you can afford to have multiple gos at it. Also, although its very cheap to make large amounts I DEFINITELY recommend making it in small quantities. I look forward to hearing what you make of it. I didnt actually know they sold it readymade and would personally rather spend the money on ingredients to DIY or to buy actual poly. Do you remember what it cost & for how much? It costs me about 60 cents(50p) for about 3/4 pound of clay...Less if you bulk buy. Good luck!

Thanks so much for the advice!! I have a few larger things in mind, so I’ll try something with that. I think after a coupon I spend about $5 for a pound. So definitely more expensive, but not bad for trying it out at least. I’m super excited. I’ll definitely add it to my list and maybe make a video on whatever I make. ☺️

Can I bake in a oven or use something else to bake it with?
@trenonights6635

Porcelain clay does not need to bake. It air dries! So no need for extra equipment. ☺️

@@trenonights6635 oh ty so much for getting back to me ..so fast...I work with sculpy baked clay so,can I mix it together while baking...I rather work with bake clay like u said,I don't like to be on a time clock..😁
@trenonights6635
@trenonights6635 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah. Baking clay is definitely my preference. You could always make the bulk of your project with sculpey, then bake it. And then you could add accessories or something with porcelain clay once the piece no longer needs to go into the oven. I’m not sure what would happen if baked it, I imagine it would burn.

@@trenonights6635 wowwwwww so once baked I can add on I use the gloss but,I want a porcelain or ceremic look ..so what type of gloss I can use to make it look more store bought..I use sergeant varnish and sculpy gloss is there anything else to make it looks like it's store bought?
@trenonights6635
@trenonights6635 4 жыл бұрын
Theresa Smith I’m not sure which glaze would be best for that look. I usually go for a more “plastic-y” finish, not ceramic. I would play around with a few semi gloss glazed and see what you get. Maybe even a crackle finish? Experimentation is key! ☺️
