You might be one of the best channels out there, and finding you this late seems like a crime. Polyrendr, I have to ask, one, how many hours did you practice, daily, during your early to intermediate stage. Two, how can I support you?
@polyrendr

Thanks man! I really appreciate the comment. The practice never ends 😅Like any skill, it takes lots of practice, consistency is key. At the beginning it varied with work, school, etc. life gets busy but find time when you can, and just keep creating! Also thanks for supporting! You can support in many ways like subscribing, liking videos, commenting, sharing, etc. Or check out my Patron page! Patron is my biggest support system :) Thanks again for the comment!

I usually see that I get discouraged to model 3D art after seeing others do it better than me. I forget one part about it, the models never look good without color, or texture. Textures are what make these models good. I can make a decent, optimized model that looks maybe a worse version of the minigun this guy has made, but without textures it'll look horrible. Textures really help fix the problems you see on your model.

Great stuff! Just curious why you didn't use UDIMs for the UVs? I find it easier to work in a single texture set in Substance Painter and split parts based on UDIM tiles.
@polyrendr
@polyrendr 8 ай бұрын
Thank you! Appreciate the comment. I don't use UDIMS mostly because I find using normal UV's more diverse if I'm going to re-use the model down the road. If I do use them, they're usually being used in video game engines, or given to my Patrons. UDIMS are great for larger models and when you can pre-render your models like in film/product design but they are usually not recommended for video games or VR, etc. whereas normal UVS can be used in both situations. I guess its also more of a habit in the line of work I do. You're right though, its definitely nice only painting on one texture set, maybe I should start using more UDIMS 👀

Bro, this is the fantastic tutorial. I am trying to make this can also. but I have noticed something which you have done in your video. You take a geo and you move them in another geo's centre. How? do you use any script? please let me know the method.

Thank you! I really appreciate the comment. I've been working in the industry for about 6 years now. I mostly self taught myself through YT videos and google. I'm 31 years old. Like any skill, it takes lots of practice, so just keep creating stuff! Consistency is key. I am planning on making a few purchasable tutorials in the near future, but until then I do offer a few tutorial-based videos on my Patron page, along with real-time videos of every model I make here on YT. I also pass along the working files for people to view and hopefully learn from. I'm also planning on doing some live streaming on my Discord, where I go through the full process creating random 3D models, starting next Wednesday! Keep at it, the practice never ends 😅

Hey man. Love the videos. Just a quick question. Why do you keep the uv editor open while you model?
@polyrendr

Thanks, I most likely opened it to UV something and accidently kept it open. Tunnel vision probably 😆

Majority are just real-time, unnarrated, which includes everything like the UV's and project files. I also make a few other tutorial-based videos on there, but there aren't many of them at the moment. However I'm planning on making more Patron-only tutorial videos in the coming months :)

You model scifi all the time. Can you model something realistic? The M1911 Pistol might be great, you modeling it.

I think I've only done 4 or 5 "Sci-Fi" models. Social networks dont like weapons - they made me take down the AK-47 post on insta so I dont do many weapons atm. I usually give it a "Sci-Fi" theme to prevent it from happening. Maybe more down the road :)

@polyrendr

I'm not sure exactly, it definitely took my whole weekend, had some tunnel vision while modelling. I kinda rushed the UV's and textures to get it done on time 😅
