Honestly, my biggest gripe with the “it’s another culture” argument is that it completely disregards the activists in that culture that don’t want abuse to be propagated. Like, there are individuals who are PART OF THAT CULTURE who don’t like it, same as it is in the US. It reminds me of the argument of female genital mutilation in Africa, where people will condone it as another part of the culture, despite the fact that there are women IN AFRICA, who are victims of it, who have been trying to ban it. I guess they don’t count as part of the culture, right? It’s such a stupid argument when it’s used to justify abuse and harm of others.

He was her coach for handball, this relationship would have been considered illegal. We tried to talk her out of it because he could have been in trouble if they had been caught. He quit his teaching position for her team and they stayed together (they broke up after a year tho). Those relationships are not that common but they aren't that uncommon either. Oftentimes it is really creepy but other times it is not. It really depends on each case. If someone tries to go to court because of such a situation they are most likely to win, underage people are especially protected by law, it is usually trialed in their favour.

Something to note about therapy and how long it takes to work- I'm a victim of csa and started therapy 2 years ago. It can take a *long* time to really start helping because the point is that your therapist points you in the direction of healing instead of giving you answers. If Cosmic is in therapy, it would take a lot more than a month for him to change completely

Basically, he did the same exact thing to another underaged person, but this time it went sexual. He did say that he's actively trying to figure out why he keeps getting dragged into this hazardous cycle and that he is aware that his presence on this platform is only going to cause more harm than good. While I do acknowledge that him trying to figure out why he keeps getting back into this behavior with his therapist is a good thing, him coming out about this during his already established break was ultimately destructive for his progress. Despite what I said three weeks ago, I do hope that he finally understands why he keeps on getting caught in this dangerous pattern and finds a way out of it for good. I also wish that he does watch this video especially. In my opinion, B has laid out everything he needs in order to make his recovery process that much smoother, and I hope he takes advantage of it (not in a bad way, mind you)

Okay, I don't disagree with you at all. but I do wanna let you know that "you're not legally a child" doesn't mean Adult, especially not in this case. in most of Europe, being a teenager puts you in a weird middle spot of not only being able to make major decisions for yourself (almost like an adult) but also still keeps some decisions from you, meaning that being between (usually) 15 and 18 makes you able to take care of most things on your own and also not putting you in some dangers. Why do these dudes have no idea how the age of consent works while parading around age of consent laws? The age of consent only works with teens and *other teens, not an adult and minor.* Most laws have a grace period where someone like 16 and 18 isn’t as bad, but a 15 year old and 19 year old is considered wrong at best and illegal at worst. Plus, the age of consent in other countries (in this case Germany) does not apply if the minor is in America. It’s so incredibly frustrating because no one knows how age of consent works in these situations.

That being said, 14 year olds are still considered kids in the eye in the law. I think he said it because 14 year olds are able to be punished a bit more if they commit crime. German here, and for clarification: nowhere in our law are 14 y/os considered to be adults. However, they are guaranteed by law the limited ability to consent to a sexual relationship with someone who is 21 or younger, since the court recognizes their right to sexual self determination at that point and usually at that age, teens over here have been thoroughly educated. The power dynamic between a KZbinr and his fan is usually not taken into account should such a relationship become a matter for the court. What these laws refer to are more traditional and direct types of power dynamic, like teacher student, coach athlete, etc. However, what is absolutely illegal is that he made pornographic images available to her and encouraged her to produce pornographic material for him. German here, our laws on consent are outdated and badly in need of updating, but even so, people don't view 14 year olds as adults. At 14, one can begin an apprenticeship, which entails working in a real workplace and make their own money. However, they can't do things like: buy or consume hard liquor, drive a car, open a bank account without parental consent, etc. Even the portrayal that this is integral to German culture or something is just dishonest. Dating children as an adult is not some culturally significant rite of passage. It's not common, it's certainly not *lauded*. If his friend group has a bunch of guys like that, his friends are a bunch of creeps.

I have a German friend and we both agree it's absolutely disgusting for an 18+ year old to date a 14 year old. Yes, the age of consent is 14 but that law was supposed to be between similarly aged minors. From my personal experience, majority of those in my class that I knew their age were 18 by the time of graduation. I had been 18 my entire senior year because my birthday is usually just before school starts or the 1st week of school. Its unrealistic, in my opinion, to say 18 year olds shouldn't date people under 18. Me and my bf had been together since I was 15, and he is 9 months older than me. He turned 18 his senior year, and it would have been unrealistic for us to break up just because he was 18. There were also no legal concerns, as 17 is the age of consent (I was 17 when he turned 18) in our state and has Romeo & Juliet law.
