The other thing about cancel culture is it will slaughter people for morally grey or questionable behaviours and equate them to illegal, abusive or discriminatory ones through their treatment of the accused, which is why these men can get away with playing the victim to their audience. Getting blasted in the court of public opinion for grooming minors is not the same as being cancelled for being a shitty friend or rude to fans, but these people twist the narrative to make it seem that way and blame cancel culture. Personally I act like that, but mostly out of spite and for everyday thing. I have spent my life trying to explain that I am not like I seem even showing proof at time. But they never changed their mind and even blame me for that sometimes. So I decided to not fight that battle. It's takes more out of me that I would like. But I got to admit if it ever go to that extent, I would say something and show proof. Though I wouldn't actually believe that it would change anything.

As someone who's had a bad history of lies and coming out clean, it honestly makes me sick that Destery would make a video like this and attempting to sugar coat his actions and dancing around the issue by being vague and giving out half truths in the hopes of making himself look like the "mature innocent adult" who's willing to "admit his mistakes and debunk his allegations." There's being genuinely remorseful to your past and then there's pretending to be sorry with no guilt or shame whatsoever. If you're going to take accountability with your actions, open up your closet and be honest. I say it was weak because pastel belle, the interviewer, is known for doing no vetting of the victims she interviews and faking contact with the FBI, along with making testimony inadmissible in court by publishing it (though I should clarify this Doesn't mean everyone she interviews is a liar. She's scamming them too) The evidence given was text screenshots (which are just easy to fake in general) and that a channel the victim couldn't access was hers on nothing besides the voices sounding vaguely similar (because matching voices between a grown woman and a child on a terrible mic is nooot easy) But then his response was to confirm that it was her channel, that he did have contact with her, but that it must have been an impersonator that groomed her. Along with weird appeals to emotion like saying his friend didn't think he was that type of person (sorry it's been ages since I saw that video, but it's something like that), nitpicking the language used In screenshots and saying that he... Developed a specific typing style So that people would have a harder time framing him for things (which in turn means that if he *did* want to be inappropriate, he could intentionally shift his writing style to cast doubt on the screenshots). Behind that, Slimebeast on KZbin debunked a lot of his smaller claims and pointed out inaccuracies in his timeline s. Along with verifying the amount of collaboration between "real cmp"" and the victim's channel, which is enough That if she was talking to a fake,one of them would absolutely notice that A. She thinks they're dating. Or B. That there's two entirely different Skype accounts for mcp she's interacting with. So It's pretty likely he did it at this point, at least in my eyes

I think the difference is that Ponder/B takes the claims and dives further in, talking to others involved, checking through laws, etc. Hell in the whole Spocter situation she actually got in contact with a lawyer.
