Boiled Down Instructions 1. Insert key into ignition 2.Turn to on position (do not crank) 3. Leave on for 10-12 minutes (timer needed) 4. Turn off for 10 seconds 5. Repeat steps 3 & 4 until car starts. (Mine turned over in one go, lucky I suppose)

@@tjayayewhy1595was your car cranking at all. I’m having the same issue but I know if the starter is bad it’ll at least crank. This car won’t even respond to the key.

Oh my god you just saved me a ton of stress and money!!! Thank you so much for this video!! I drive a 1996 Pontiac Sunfire GT 2.4 litre and have for the past 24 years. This morning I went to start it to go to work and it would fire up but then immediately shut off, like it wasn't getting gas. It drove fine yesterday and has been fine so it was a mystery. My husband immediately thought alternator or battery. Battery was fine so then came the trouble shooting. Now I have the official set of service manuals from GM, you know the big thick manuals that cover everything that the mechanics use? Even it didn't have your solution, that I could find. It suggested all of these diagnostic checks on hoses, sensors, you name it. Now I know my car and have kept it up and worked on it myself all these years so I know what has been replaced and what hasn't. I could think of no reason why it shouldn't run. Thank god I jumped on KZbin and searched Pontiac and starts but stops and theft loc because I know it will act like this if that's what happened. By chance I saw your video and clicked on it. I followed your instructions and after the 3rd 11 minutes and turn to off, I started it and it kept running just like always. I used a sick day at work with no transportation but can't wait to tell how I fixed it myself from watching a KZbin video! So again, thank you for this video. I hope you have a great day!

I get it: your car has a problem, and you want it fixed, but there is no need to be little princesses about it. I have the problem as well. It's not this guy's fault, and I'm grateful that there is even a possibility of fixing it without spending over a grand on it.

I broke my only programmed key on my 07 Grand Prix . The other keys wouldn’t start it due to their chip but they would turn the ignition . I broke one of the tops off one of those (broke it so the end of the key stuck out of the ignition still). Put it in the ignition and the starting disabled went away I was then able to get into the self programming mode in the small computer display and turned theft mode off and then was able to start it with any cut key that worked with that ignition whether or not it is chipped .

Okay those ignitions have a recall. More than likely weight on your keys is causing the transponder ring around the lock cylinder is sending a theft signal that little black ring behind the cover gets outta position. Instead of doing the relearn try pushing that ring back in place or see if it broken there's a wire in it that reads the key it's basically a magnet all it is is that has gotten outta position or broke and is sending the anti theft signal. Hell I just pushed in on mine a bam went right back to normal fired right up I bumped it again and it sent the anti theft signal shut the car down then I just pushed in lightly and it went away again. That ignition is sensitive like a bitch 😂 so good luck but if it's saying it shut down due to anti theft check that ring behind the ignition cover

When reprogramming a new BCM to disable the Anti theft make sure ALL fuses are installed and working. It is setup to need to communicate with certain parts of the car and without all fuses present (even RDO funny enough) it won't work. This happened to me until I found the info on a forum.

I have a 2006 Gran prix that alarm won't stop. It still drives but had to pull horn fuse to stop the blaring along with others . I tried everything but I didn't know it needed all fuses

This is ridiculous . Who has 30+ minutes to play around turning it on and off everytime you stop the car. Install on in-line resistor on the orange wire under the dash between the ignition and control module, which is under the hood. The resistor should be the same Ohms as the one in the key.

With a master vehicle key, turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. Observe the security indicator. After approximately 10 minutes, the telltale will turn OFF. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times for a total of 3 cycles or 30 minutes. Important: The vehicle learns the key transponder information and/or passwords on the ignition switch transition from OFF to RUN. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle. With a master vehicle key, start the vehicle. The vehicle has now learned the key transponder information and/or the ECM has now learned the fuel continue password.

It got 06 Gran prix that alarm won't shut off I tried everything. It still started and ran so I pulled some fuses to stop horn and windshield wipers from goin off from alarm soon as I plug battery back on. So now I have to unplug battery every time or it will drain from battery still going off

Im thinking replacing all fuses then re trying that re-programing with the key and 30 secs. I had pulled out the horn fuse because of the noise it was loud enough to not wana work on it, but that might be the problem when I think of it
