Helped me a LOT. Made a big difference. My mind is now at ease.

Fascinating! Reminds me of how my Daddy did it when I was watching him as a kid in the 60's!

Had a slant six 1968 Dodge Dart in College. One time it just quit on in the middle of nowhere! Pulled the distributor cap off and oops the points were worn closed. Found a matchbook on the side of the road, set the points and it started right up. They made cars well back then and they were reliable and easy to repair. Drove the car over 225,000 miles. I miss it.

Never ever did it static. Learned on those. Always used a 3/8 breaker. No extension. Loved the slant six. Easy to work on. Indestructable.

Had a 70 Dart Custom. My main issue was that the exhaust/intake manifold gasket kept blowing out on the exhaust side. Got to where I could replace it in the damn dark. Brings back memories.

Should a good running one after adjustment sound like a sewing machine? After adjustment mine runs good but clicks loud

Why beat the hell out of your feeler guages doing it running? If you insist on going this way a long offset box end wrench keeps you from having sockets come off and falling down in the pushrods. Setting them with the engine off you don't get oil splash all over .
