My daughter has raised a conure from very young. It is thriving and a person and fun. This woman knows of what she talks. Listen to her. I would also say that Conures are NOT disposable pets. Commit 20 years or don't bother, but, that said , a healthy conure is a wonderful family member. Unless you've ever met a conure raised well then it's not easy to understand - a bird that loves and cuddles! WARNING It is still a bird and will crap on anything. Good video.

G'day, from the land down under, Our sun conure 3 1/2 years ago landed on his shoulder and even we placed ads everywhere he sort of stuck with us and nobody claimed him or her you really can't tell. He is a loving bird and loves to snuggle. At first we found out that he loves too sleep on his back and we thought that he was dead but, no we found that's normal and he now sleeps in the cage at night in a hammock. He loves grapes and he is very sneaky as his also loves butter. This is why we called him butterbean. He is one noise bird though. Cheers my friend Leonie

Honestly speaking, I got a baby gold-capped conure thinking it was the same as a green cheek since it had a reputation of being a less screechy bird. Got that entirely wrong and realised quickly this was false. I don’t think I’ll ever REALLY like its sudden screeches but the volume is bearable overtime 😅 edit: it’s quiet most of the time but when it screams it whooo 🤭. Ironically it gives me peace of mind that it’s still able to scream

I think the most important thing to do is to not get one but two conures - these birds are highly social and need a companion (and, sorry, a human cannot replace a conure companion). I agree that one should never get a conure that's still too young and requires hand-feeding; they should be able to eat by themselves and should be "fully socialized", i.e. they have spent enough time with their siblings and parents to learn how conures behave. Ideally, one would get a pair of unrelated conures (2 males would also do since they usually get along well, too). Concerning cages: I prefer wide cages with (mainly) horizontal bars (this makes climbing much easier). They should be wide enough for the birds to be able to fly inside the cage (or aviary) - unless the birds are free 24/7 and use the cage only to sleep and eat.
@AMG__182 жыл бұрын
whats it like to train 2 conures? wont they be constantly distracted with each other?
@BirdsInSight2 жыл бұрын
@@AMG__18 Yes, it is more difficult to train 2 conures. But the point here is to meet their social needs - that has to have top priority. I have 4 peach-fronted conures, and when I see how they interact with each other and how happy they seem to be, I don't care about training (although I did some basic training with them).

Hoping to get a reply from u asap! Thx & StaySafe!

Hello! The birds you will get are new adults, its great to hear you've done your homework... if you've seen most of our videos you'll see I mention a good aviary set up - you should keep them in separate cages with their own space but cages can be side by side. When they come to you they will adapt to the changes so if you want to put them on a different diet, the best time is to start right away. The first few days they might be scared or hesitant towards you and the new place just be patient, kind and go at their pace. @PoodlesandParrots Жыл бұрын
While it's possible to keep two conures in the same cage, it's generally not recommended. Conures are social birds and do enjoy interacting with each other, but they also need their own space and territory to feel comfortable and secure. Keeping two conures in the same cage can lead to territorial disputes and aggressive behaviour, which can be stressful for both birds. If you have more than one bird, it's best that they each have their own big cages. 💛

hi. how do you know that your sun conure is at its weaning stage?
@PoodlesandParrots3 жыл бұрын
Hello! There are many factors that contribute to when a baby bird will begin to wean. Weaning is a critical stage in a bird's development. When you begin to notice your baby bird is picking things up on its own then you can begin to introduce mushy foods and adult food to the bird. As you see the baby is eating the mushy/adult food you can start to cut back on the amount of hand feeding formula being offered. Conures typically start weaning around 7-12 weeks but make sure to observe their poop too! Mango took 12 weeks to start weaning, just be patient and let your bird do it at their pace when they are ready :):)

Now my baby just alway walking toward me to climb on me and i don't think it's because I call his name he often don't come when i call him but after that he came when I didn't call. Is it because he just be with me for a week? Is it too soon to teach seven week old conure a callback? Or too late?

We just want to make sure our birds are not chewing or beaking at plastic pipes. We prefer to not use any plastic because of the dangers that have been reported when birds play with plastic toys. There are lots of fun ways to create a play gym for our parrots, thanks for sharing!

How do you add calcium for a 4wks old baby conure?
@PoodlesandParrots3 жыл бұрын
Is there a concern for low calcium in the diet? I would consult your breeder or avian vet on a proper healthy diet for the conure to ensure it has everything balanced. Cheers!
@SamAffandy3 жыл бұрын
@@PoodlesandParrots thx for the reply. I just don't see calcium in my formula (intune), so kinda worried if i might need to supplement my baby with extra calcium..
@PoodlesandParrots3 жыл бұрын
@@SamAffandy typically baby bird formula is balanced so that the bird is getting all the nutrients they need - it is important to keep them on the same formula and not change it. You can always consult with the breeder :) once the bird starts weaning the you can introduce a variety of healthy foods so that the bird gets a wide range of nutrients I have a video on how to get your bird to start eating veggies too once they are ready :)

Can you tell how powerful their bite is
@PoodlesandParrots3 жыл бұрын
Sure can! If they are fearful or something like that they can bite hard, they can break skin as well but ensuring your bird has toys to destroy all the time will help file their beak down :)

When you say roomy cage what kind of measurements do you mean?
@PoodlesandParrots3 жыл бұрын
Many reliable sources indicate that a conure minimum cage size requirements includes 24 inches wide x 30 inches tall x 24 inches deep. Some even say 36 inches tall but by roomy I mean if you can get one bigger - the bigger the better. Because they are active and love lots of space the bigger the cage the happier they will be! I like to choose a cage for medium- large size parrots for Mango so can have more room on his little condo 😊

@PoodlesandParrots2 жыл бұрын
It sounds like your bird is fearful. Birds only bite and behave this way for a reason and not inherent aggressiveness. Was there a previous owner or a breeder that handled the bird? You need to find the cause of this behaviour and work on resolving it and building trust with your bird. My next video is all about bird biting and aggressiveness - stay tuned! In the meantime you can check out my video on how to bond with your bird 🙏🏼✨

@PoodlesandParrots2 жыл бұрын
We’ve always gotten baby conures because then we are able to train them, bond with them and build trust from a young age. That’s not to say you can’t get a grown one! but if you are getting a rescue or rehoming it may take longer to bond and train them. All the best!✨

@PoodlesandParrots2 жыл бұрын
Food and water are essential needs for birds. The continued costs of a having bird are also something to consider when working with a budget - new toys monthly usually, fresh foods for daily salads and dry food like high quality pellets, treats (raw nuts), avian vet check ups, & things like that. Please consider if you can fully provide these types of things before getting a pet bird. Best of luck!

Yikes! We have to be mindful that every bird has their own history and personality. I would recommend some tutorial videos on approaching and interacting at your birds pace, you can also introduce target training this is great for a variety of reasons. Figure out which treats your pineapple likes best so that you can use those as a high value reward when you have positive interactions together, best of luck🤍 if there’s a video topic or tutorial you would like specifically from us just let us know in a comment and we will do our best to help!🦜
