I have a cartridge filter system for my pool. Can i use Floc to lower the calcium hardnesses in my pool? How would you proceed with this? (I tried clicking the link to submit this question, but the link was broken.)

I have a “whirlpool” setting on my jacuzzi brand sand filter. Any idea what this would be for?
@320mkg5 ай бұрын
It circulates the water without passing it through the filter. You'll use this setting if using flocculant to treat an algae bloom

We have to replace our sand filter. Currently have Hayward, do you have a recommendation? In-ground Pro Series Sand Filter and Valve Only, 24 in with 1.5 inch Top Mount Valve is what we use. How does Doheny's brand compare to Hayward?
@Buzz_3295 ай бұрын
Can I ask why you're replacing brands? Hayward is one of the best.

I have a problem I can't find answers to. I put PH Down in my pool because the PH was 8 and after 2 weeks the bottom of my pool still has the PH Down chemical settling at the bottom. I've stired it up countless times and have run a pool robot vacuum as well, but I seem to be making very little progress. I don't know if it's safe to swim either so I haven't let anyone get in it. Please if you have any advise I'd appreciate it. 🥺
@SwimUniversity5 ай бұрын
Have you tried vacuuming it up manually? And what are your levels now?
@MidnightreaderYT5 ай бұрын
@@SwimUniversity Levels are at 7.6 now and I do have a manual vacuum and it does pick up more but it's small and not one that hooks to the pump because my intakes I can't attach anything to my intakes. It's thankfully starting to look a bit better.

Help! Does anyone know what these gross looking things are in my pool? When I’m skimming, I’m finding these really thin black type “threads.” Some are less than an inch long, but others are over an inch or even more. But these “threads” look like they’re made up of tiny little beads rather than just a solid strand. It doesn’t look like the pictures of horsehair worms that I’m seeing online. They seem dead. Or at least aren’t moving. Are they strands of eggs of some sort, or poop from an insect or something? I’ve occasionally seen one here or there, but this morning there are a whole lot of them. I got in the pool and was skimming, and most were at the bottom when I was skimming up some leaves. The more I skimmed, more just kept coming up. My daughter said she’s seen a few before and still swims. So I started swimming even though I was grossed out. But I started seeing an occasional one float a few inches from the surface of the water, right in my way. Maybe I stirred it all up from the bottom of the pool, or maybe they float around? I can’t find anything online so far that looks like it. There’s a bunch of them this morning though, and it’s concerning me. Anyone know what it is!

As long as you're not having any issues! Is it a temporary pool? If not, check your calcium hardness levels. That can affect surfaces and parts over time.

I have a video about this in a few weeks. But in the meantime, check your filter: clean or backwash it, check pressure, check for leaks to and from it, check O-Ring seal, etc.
