Random Question: I'm looking to ease by electric bill and buy some sort of a solar panel pool pump for my inground pool. Any opinion/suggestions ? Should I buy solar panels and connect it to my pool pump, or buy a pool pump with solar panels?

I had my pool pump connected to an extension cord that ended up burned out. I was able to get a cord replacement from Leslie's pool supplies, but it's still not turning on. Should I replace the whole pump or do you think I need to get a replacement on/off switch as that might have been burned out too?

My pump wouldn't start up. I turned the power off, took the back cap off the motor by untightening 2 screws, took a flat head screwdriver and manually turned the screw in the center of the motor several times around and in both direction, then replaced the back cap and turned back on the power. I did this a few times last year and once so far this season. Since my pool equipment is left out in the weather 24-7 for four years now I'd say things can get a little stuck once and a while. Thanks for a few more things to check on if the pump isn't working I can try.

My Jandy pump completely stop working for some unknown reason. Was it do to the rare solar storm? Who knows. Switching the main breaker off and on did noting for the pump. My pool person was nice enough to give me something to try before he made a service call. The Swim Univ. video advises to turn off the main breaker which I believe is correct. My pool person advised me to turn off all the breakers to the pool and wait about 1 minute then turn everything back on. It worked perfectly and the pump came back on. Hopefully this trick will work for you. This tip is free of charge.

Every year, before turn on the pump, I remove the back cover (single screw) and squirt a little WD40 on the center circle. This circle has a flathead screwdriver slot. I insert a screwdriver and manually spin the circle a few times around, loosening up the rotor. It's usually stuck at first but then is free to spin afterwards. Then I apply power to the pump and I'm good to go for the rest of the season.

My motor is running but pump won’t come on everytime. If I turn it on backwash or prime it both will make it start working .
@SwimUniversity6 ай бұрын
It might be a filter issue. Have you tried backwashing or cleaning your filter?
@sharoncarr68956 ай бұрын
Oh yes. And actually after I backwash the pump starts working but ultimately stops when it turns off after the times turns it off.

I forgot to turn off my pump when I let my dog jump in the pool. He is wild! The jumping made the water all sloshy and I think I got air in my system. It was working totally fine before. I immediately turned it off, when he was out of the pool I tried to restart the filter. It will not prime, now there is no suction from the skimmer, I lubed all the o rings, checked for air leaks. I am stumped. HALP?!

A lot of older pumps aren’t supported by the cradle and just hang there.
