Period poop smells worse BECAUSE there is constipation then diarrhea. There may be other things adding to it, but I think that is a huge factor. The longer poop spends in an anaerobic environment, like your colon, the worse it smells. The aromatics in your poop are converted into even smellier ones over time if aerobic bacteria don't intervene. (by about 10 days, poop smells like rotten meat, poop and bad vomit) During a period, the old constipation poop gets flushed out with lots of water and diarrhea, and more liquid poops release their aromatic compounds into the air more easily than solid poops. TLDR; old poops smell worse and wet poops smell more, and period poops are both wet and old.

Fun fact. People with end stage renal failure don’t pee. I know because I am one of those people. I haven’t peed in about 3 years. Dialysis does that job for me. Weird huh

35:00-ish As a trans woman on hormone therapy, I can confirm that this also happens to us. We don't really know how our levels fluctuate enough to cause it with constant hormone sources, but we can experience every aspect we have the anatomy for.

Performing surgery on a lizard is doable but it's very very difficult. Source: me who owns a Leopard Gecko that got Spayed. I think the biggest issue is that cutting open the stomach and gut is a much harder thing to heal up. There's far more chance of sepsis than just putting the poor thing out of it's poopless misery.

But they did think to make the knife out of high-protein poop, I’m glad they considered that. I do think they should ask some Inuit scientists to follow a traditional diet and recreate the experiment, though. It seems like there might be some genetic adaptation or just a gut microbiome difference to such a high-protein diet that might make a difference
