YES DRAWFEE!!! I suggested this on twitter but think I'll suggest it here too: Y'all should see if you can get some drawfee peeps on tangents, if you can :) an elephant themed episode with Nathan would be so good for everyone imo :p

I get the feeling from past interactions with this channel that they monitor the comments more easily than the larger hank green associated channels, so if by chance one of you guys read this, definitely get Nathan on to talk about elephants please.

I remember talking to some people from the UK about how one of their older cities got swallowed by it's neighbor that grew faster and in modern day it was only classified as a neighborhood of it's neighbor and was no longer classified as a city itself, and some of them got legitimately mad. Some British people take their city definitions seriously.

Would clear yoshi be like the Super Mario Bros All Stars Star Road yoshis where they get special powers based on how they look? What do you think the clear yoshi would allow Mario to do? I think maybe go through walls or go invisible like in the ghost houses? I don't know too much about American cities but London is a great example of a bunch of towns that got merged together into a city. The actual original Roman city of Londinium is what became known as the City of London, the financial centre of the city with its guilds and a special mayor wearing fancy dress. But so many towns and villages surrounding the river in all four cardinal directions became eventually incorporated into what we commonly call "London" though even nowadays there are many ways to define what is "London" as a city and people love to argue about which definition is best.

I was always told (true or not) we were only technically a city because we have a cathedral. We are small for a city, huge for a town...we were a high population but spread out...i'm not sure thats the case anymore...alot of people have a second home somewhere else. Villages seem to count within it technically but not actually... It's odd. Usually we say were going 'into town' not into city. London town is also a weird place. Sometimes you are walking around and then suddenly you come across what clearly USED to be a small quaint little villlage that just got entirely consumed by the hugeness that is London. And it is coming for us all.

The stages at which I tell people where I’m from: 1. LA 2. X City 3. Actually I live in an unincorporated neighborhood directly adjacent to x city, but my mailing address still says x city and that’s where almost everyone works and goes to school, so I’m kind of from both places? I never thought my particular city was big until I was an adult. Living in LA county, where you can easily move between 5 cities in a day, any particular one feels small, compared to the enormity of a county that contains more people than most us states. It’s a weird place to grow up in. Basically any city I go to besides giants like London or NYC feel tiny. I’m like… this is it?

@SciShow Tangents, I have a species for you: Imagine the entire village of Smurfs, looking for some special fruit, discover a mysterious cave. Deep within, there are what appear to be dozens of avocados, row upon row, standing on end. They wander among them, discovering that, when disturbed, their tops pop open, revealing a slimy... Before they realise it, the entire population of their village has become host to Xenomorphs. The 'morphs do like they do, and release 2nd stage chest bursters, who have taken up genetic traits of their host species. Gargamel and his cat might want to watch themselves. Talk about, "ankle biters!"

Recently I watch your episode on Fuel and near the end, your wonderful group spoke about making a plant that could produce electricity with Black Leaves. This got me thinking about another recent biological study I heard about that spoke on the topic of a “Tree Community Root System” having the ability to “Share Nutrients” with other plants that were lacking in order to help each other during Winter or times of drought and hardship. This would improve health of the entire root ecosystem instead of what I would of believed that each tree or plant root system would work independently from one another. I believe that even different species shared into this root system. I don’t know all the facts and I may have this wrong but it’s a truly amazing line of research. I would love to hear your teams take on this topic. As much I hate to say it, it brings me back to the James Cameron’s Movie Avatar. Maybe our own root system is far more complex and intertwined with one another making me wonder if we should consider how we trim and manage our woods as a resource. This could have serious effects on the paper and wood factories near me in northern New England and the large areas of land simply used as a wood growth area. What if we knew the best types of trees to be mixed together in Oder for them to coexist. What if we left behind in order to plant that would maximize this relationship with one anothe to improve the speed f growth for a forest to regain what was twine or use again as a resource. I see some trees left behind and forgotten about for 30-50 years and started all over again cutting down with nothing in between. I feel like this could open up so many fascinating and real world applications for Forest management in the future. I love the owners and it’s an amazing resource we can grow every generation for the next no different then how we grow our food, lest maximize its capabilities instead of just leaving our forests to figure things out, after making mess of things like many tree companies do. Love you guys keep up the good work you make my days a little more pleasant and rewarding when I get time to listen Last if you do one thing in your Life Visit a True OLD GROWTH forest that is 200 years in the making Maine has Eagle Lake in the ALLAGASH it’s once in a life time thing to know that men like Henry David Thoreau passed these same trees Please learn more as I never seen anything quite as amazing except maybe the Grand Canyon

Iirc there has been some research in Finland concerning the allergy thing. I read about it a while ago so I don't remember exactly, but I don't think it was hygiene exactly. I think they found an inverse relation between biodiversity and allergies. So kids living in places with more biodiversity had less allergies and kids living in places with less biodiversity had more allergies.
