Dude, it was literally: let's dance silly to a song. Internet memes are odd in that sense.
@jordashi4 жыл бұрын
@@tecwynjones6532 Yeah no not when it was all planned from day one, I mean most people really believe the harlem shake craze was a real reaction to something viral and crazy but nope it was all a stunt that took a life of its own and left a mess in its wake. If anything the harlem shake ruined pop culture because now every artist needs to be attached to a meme or something viral to get a hit.
@tecwynjones65324 жыл бұрын
@@jordashi Planned? Maybe for one person, but with the amount of people who danced to it and did it, it certainly wasn't "planned". Also, got any evidence to say it's "planned"?
@jordashi4 жыл бұрын
@@tecwynjones6532 I mean Filthy Frank did come out and admit he was behind the whole Harlem shake craze and you can google it and find articles on it. Honestly, the way KZbin is set up and now and even then nothing is naturally a viral hit that easily, there is a lot of planning that goes into making something viral and this craze was no different. In fact, if I recall right the same thing happened the next year with the pod challenge which was associated with the Black Beatles song, the same thing happened with the Watch Me Whip song, even musical acts aren't just a hit out of nowhere these days. There are people mostly the record industry who knows that people will jump all over a song if it's attached to something that can become a meme, and that is what happened with Harlem shake, I bet most people don't even remember who the artist was that made the song or even the original Harlem shake video which was Filthy Frank's who again started the whole craze. Sure there are times things become a viral hit off of word of mouth but most of the time somebody is behind it and planned the whole thing out and this was the case, now it's not to say people don't go overboard and made it such a big thing, but it wasn't like someone heard the song and made a video from it no it was a planned stunt that caught peoples attention and in turn, they copied it for the views and when mainstream America made it lame then we moved past it, basically it was a trend more than a viral hit, the sad part is the artist who made the song has never cracked in the top 40 in the U.S since.

rct3isepic heavy? well of course not. it's not metal. gwar is heavy. cannibal corpse is heavy. cattle decapitation is heavy. I wouldn't call any edm/techno/electronica/trap heavy. bad adjective.
@rct3isepic7 жыл бұрын
mixmastermind heavy doesn't just apply to metal. In the case of EDM, heavy refers to more aggressive percussion, more distorted sounds, and more aggressive and heavier bass
@RhythmGrizz7 жыл бұрын
rct3isepic in my experience "heaviness" is directly correlated to how low the register of a song's key is. lower key = heavier sound. studies have been done on this. youtuber steve tereberry took lots of generally considered heavy songs, put them in higher tunings/keys, and the concensus was that they no longer sounded heavy. doom and sludge metal music is heavy as shit, and that music is built on slow tempos. so i don't think it necessarily has to do with tempo/speed or percussion. nor distortion for that matter. high tempos, perceived aggression, and distortion are often present in heavy music and associated with it, but I think they are more by-products. you can certainly have heavy sounding songs with slow tempos and minimal to no distortion. but you cannot have heavy songs in high-register keys.
