Thank you President Nelson for gracing our shores with your lovely wife. I am a Catholic and a strong believer in God. I watched you greeted our people with grace and with love and compassion. I certainly felt something different within my soul but I am more eager to find out more about LDS church. Your church contributed financially to our country and to communities around the world through our Catholic Humanitarian Organization. Thank you so much and I pray God protect you and your wife throughout your travel.

Hello the missionaries when they came to my house said he is a Prophet I was just wondering what that exactly means to adherents of the faith. They said Joseph Smith was a Prophet too and saw God and Jesus. I was blown away. Is President Nelson a “Prophet” Prophet in all sense of the word as in actually prophesying stuff? Has he written a book of prophesies or anything? Does God and Jesus visit with him physically ( not figuratively) or was that only something Joseph did ? If that is the case I would like to know more about the writings of this Prophets. The missionaries didn’t really answer those questions, just kind of dodged it. Thanks

Great questions. A prophet is a seer and revelator. So he can see the future, in the sense of - God reveals to him the sign of the times. He knows what to instruct the people today, so they can be prepared for specific occurrences in the future. For example, The prophet 20 years ago came out with "The Family: A Proclamation to the World" This proclamation addresses the importance of families and marriage. That there are Men and Women, and that God wants us to try and have a family with a Father and a Mother. And the sanctity of marriage between a male and female. That was 20 years ago. Think of how important that is for today. That was a seed that was planted back then that grew all these years and solidified in the hearts and minds of the members and anyone who understood it to be prepared for the onslaught against families, marriage, and gender. A prophet is God's mouthpiece. Whatever the prophet says, God also says. It's that simple. Just like God warns and blesses, the prophet does also. He will condemn or bless human behavior.

stuk athon thanks for the reply. I’ll look more into it, at first hand honestly it seems like common sense discourse any right wing evangelical pastor would say. Great stuff though, the missionaries are very nice young man too. Thanks

His response on climate change to me meant this - "Your premise that climate change is a real thing is not yet a settled discussion. So I can't comment and inherently acknowledge on something that is not definitive." He said "A topic that is very controversial."
@MrArtist7777
@MrArtist7777 5 жыл бұрын
@@MsMatth33 It is a settled thing, climate change is real and no climate scientist denies this and we know exactly what causes it: too much carbon in the atmosphere. There's absolutely nothing confusing about the issue, it's real, we know what causes it and we know how to combat it. And it's only controversial to the far right partisans in the U.S. as they listen to fossil fuel corporation lies and propaganda (not including Pres. Nelson, just those who think climate change is not real). Better response from Pres. Nelson would be to simply acknowledge climate change as real and ways the church is doing their part to combat it, as Pres. Oaks recently said in a talk.

@@MrArtist7777 There are tons of scientists that disagree. Are you listening to both sides? It doesn't look like it. Do you know how many times the pro climate change side comes out with "new evidence" for it, and then it gets debunked because someone fudges the numbers?? The mainstream media won't report that though. All climate change is, is a discussion. A discussion that's been going on for decades. First it was Global Cooling, then Global Warming, now Climate Change. So now ANY change is for global warming??? How do you not see that there is no threat. If we were in trouble, we would be having dust bowl conditions right now. We will just keep talking about. Biggest hoax of our lifetime.

@@MsMatth33 Name one climate scientist who disagrees with global climate change, I've never heard of one. There have been a few scientists who are Ph.D's in physics or chemistry, etc. that are paid by the fossil fuel industry, who have denied climate change but no climate scientist denies climate change, I know, my own daughter is a climate scientist and the evidence is overwhelming and 100% verifiable, there's no debate. Global warming, climate change, are all the same thing as the globe is warming and the climate is changing and changing fast! Obviously, you're not overly familiar with climate change as there's no prediction we'll have dust bowls but it has been predicted, and is happening, that we will have sea level rise, melting glaciers and more severe weather conditions. All prophets have a right to their opinion but doesn't mean they are trained or knowledgeable in every area, and that's fine. I'm happy to provide evidence and graphs, if you'd like, that climate change is very real, very dangerous and will cause more destruction to our planet than anything else and man has caused it.
@MrArtist7777
@MrArtist7777 5 жыл бұрын
@@MsMatth33 Here's probably the best resource for climate change: climate.nasa.gov/scientific-consensus/ It is a consensus with all countries in the world and all climate scientists. The so-called climate change skeptics are either not climate scientists who've done the actual research and know the data or they are phony scientists who are paid by the fossil fuel industry to lie, exactly like the tobacco industry "doctors" who were paid to lie that smoking doesn't cause cancer. We all know, it does. On climate change, I'm an optimist as I've worked in the renewable energy industry for the past 12 years and have worked closely with power utilities, all over the world and they are all decommissioning their old, expensive coal-fired and natural gas-powered power plants and replacing them with solar and wind plants, with battery back-up as it's cheaper, more reliable and less expensive, in the long run. And I've kept a close eye on the auto industry which shows EV's gaining market share, rapidly, and all auto manufacturers committing to building EV's. I own an EV and power it with my own solar panels and wind turbine and pay nothing for gasoline or power for my house and can personally assure anyone that it's cheaper. God gave us this beautiful planet to be good stewards over it and take care of it, technology is now available to do it.

Correction: since 2007 the fastest growing religion is Islam and it will continue to be. I live in Europe where we can whitness that every day. The most popular ( new born) boys name in Berlin last year was Mohammed. And how are women liberated when they get to do all the things "that it requires a minister to be ordained in other churches", yet women are not allowed to hold the priesthood? That does not seem right or fair. And if you want to know how this church handles cases of abuse, why don't you ask the victims? They have a lot to say about it. It was even on HBO.

Did he say it was the fasted growing religion? I don't remember that part. Of course its fair for women. Women get to do things men can't do. And men get to do things women can't do. That's just the way it is! "Fair????" Only children speak of such things...

@@MsMatth33 The church has been claiming to be the fastest growing religion since the 90s. Even the missionaries taught me that. The interviewer said it and no one corrected him. But they also forgot to mention that is is a religion that people are leaving by the thousands each month. The 16 Million number is not at all accurate, when half of the church is leaving and half of what is left turns inactive. I would too after reading the GTE and the abuse scandals, that are not new information by the way. And one other thing, as a former reporter myself, now working in marketing, not one question has been answered in this interview. It was all just beating around the bush and the same sales pitch as always. What does that have to do with the so called truth this organisation speaks of all the time? This is scripted and not inspired. And as for you, when someone asks a question you don't like, do you always resort to name calling? That just shows you do not live by the ideas of Jesus about forgiveness and understanding. So you may want to ask yourself WWJD? I don't think he would stoop down to belittle people, would he?

@@ladyknight4162 I didn't name call. I said it was childish to speak in terms of fairness. I've been a member all my life, im 35, and I've been on a mission. I don't ever remember any leader claiming that the church is the fastest growing church. You'd have to show me where this claim is. If you want specific answers, then ask specific questions.
@ladyknight4162

@@MsMatth33 calling someone childish after that person mentioned a lack of equality in the system is name calling. You called me a child. How is that productive or even kind? The kindness you teach in your church, the kindness Christ taught? A non member asks questions and this is how most members react. I did not say anything mean or offensive. I asked questions. And if you want a specific question, here is one: how does the church handle cases of sexual abuse or domestic violence? During my time at University I did a research paper on these things. It made me so sick that I never finished it to turn it in. I just couldn't. What would you do if your child was the victim? (not a rhetorical question) Even if you/the curch/the missionaries claim that it is ONE of the fastest growing religions (which I have been taught by the church in my hometown) the numbers don't add up. Members are leaving the church left and right in mass resigning events. So even if you have lots of new baptisms, the number does not grow. It never will again, not as long as the internet and youtube will exist. And since that article "21 reasons it doesn't matter if the church is true" has been published, why do missionaries still go door to door advertising the one true church? Appearently it doesn't matter anymore. And point number 6 about criticism is disproved everytime I ask questions I would like an honest answer to, but only recieve rudness and name calling. You probably think I want to talk you out of your religion? Well if you had been open to a discussion you would have noticed, that I have nothing against the every day members, they are the ones who try to live the priciples to the best of their knowledge. I even have long term friends in the church. I am questioning the leaders and the way they handle the people. You just think everyone is attacking you. Instead, why do members like you never ask a person like me, who has been sitting down with the missionaries for the period of a full year, going to church many times, participated in all kinds of member activities and family gatherings, why I still haven't joined? Because you are not interested in an honest answer for the simple fear of maybe putting some doubt into your mind. But if one is truly in it with their hearts, how could a normal conversation between two opposing sides hurt anyone? Why is it so bad to explore different points of view?

@@ladyknight4162 I never called you a child. If I called you a child, Then I would have said "you are a child." Children complain when they think things aren't fair. So again, I was saying your behavior was like a child. Childish. You do realize Christ called people fools right? I don't think he was being unkind. He is just simply saying, that they are foolish. I agree with you that you should explore other points of view. It would be irresponsible not to. But here is the problem. You can't try and entangle people in their words. That is really bad. That is a tactic of the devil. That's what all church bashers do. They get argumentative and try to entangle and ensnare. That's what many people did back when Jesus walked the earth. And he called them out for it. And saw who they were. Don't look for ways to trap people. I went through that CES thing and found that guy to be like that. Trying to entangle. Doesn't mean some of his points may be right. So what if some translation was in some people's eyes, at the moment, "wrong." Joseph Smith, all the prophets, are not Gods. They are not perfect. So how could they not, from time to time, get some things so trivial, wrong?? They are human beings, not Gods. But the big picture doesn't change. I also agree that members in the church are very judgemental and unkind. They care about status, callings, and their money. Trust me when I tell you, that you are preaching to the choir. That doesn't change The Church of Jesus Christ. How could it? We are dealing with flawed people that need to change. That doesn't change the doctrine. It is our responsibility to get them to change. How about you come back and work with me in changing the hearts and minds of the members?

Have you all read the CES letter? BTW, California lost over 70 wards.... we Californians woke up to the false and ever hidden history claims which have come to light in your own release of 14 essays. Bro. Nelson told us Monson was not a true prophet because he has his new and better prophecy on gay members. Say what? Crazy making double speech of the prophets.

In my stake alone we've lost 2 ward's. More stakes have been formed with fewer wards in ea stake here in Cal. Massive inactivity and baptisms do not hold. They're gone in 6 months. Spanish speaking missionaries in Calif have very few Spanish speaking active members attending. I learned about the loss of wards from the Mission President's own grapevine. I also learned from good sources, we were at risk of one of our ocean property wards being sold if we didn't raise our numbers and reach baptism goals.

My daughter married a black man from NYC. He has a master's degree and is a captain in the Marines.
