Dear Porcupine Tree. Im 51 years old and from Denmark. I only met you 2 months ago and instantly captured by your amazing qualities, insane energy and mind blowing beauty. I’m so sorry I just met you and have a lot of catching up to do.. I really hope you will keep making your amazing songs for many years to come.. I can honestly say that I love you..

@@wighty We should make list of when Steven broke a string while performing Trains :) It happened in Hartford, CT 2007, but it looked like it was unexpected, it took a while for his guy to hand him a new tuned guitar.

The first time you hear this song, you are struck by the shear beauty and greatness. It moves from your ears to your heart to your soul and you need to hear it again or you will not be able to go on living. The second time you are compelled to understand what it's about. You research the lyrics, you google the meaning. You realize there is literally a cult around it and you are already in it. From there on, the joy of this song is all ANTICIPATION for each chord, verse, chorus, pause...a rollercoaster of goosebumps and heartache from start to finish. 100% brilliant masterpiece.

Agreed!! 2 months ago I would have said Porcu who?? I was at an estate sale and just happened to pick up In Absentia and Fear of A Blank Planet on DVD-AUDIO 5.1 because the name sounded interesting. Those OOP items are expensive on eBay. I’ve been a fan ever since and have spent too much money buying the rest of their albums in surround sound. I don’t know how I missed these guys especially during their heyday. I was too busy listening to Rush lol.

LYRICS: Train set and match spied under the blind Shiny and contoured the railway winds And I've heard the sound from my cousin's bed The hiss of the train at the railway head Always the summers are slipping away A sixty ton angel falls to the earth A pile of old metal, a radiant blur Scars in the country, the summer and her Always the summers are slipping away Find me a way for making it stay When I hear the engine pass I'm kissing you wide The hissing subsides, I'm in luck When the evening reaches here you're tying me up I'm dying of love, it's OK When I hear the engine pass I'm kissing you wide The hissing subsides, I'm in luck When the evening reaches here you're tying me up I'm dying of love, it's OK

At 5:26 a fan yells "Yea" and it supercharged me (and the crowd). But, if you know Steve, you know that he doesn't like spontaneous vocalizations from the audience (at 5:26 I also cringed with this knowledge). I was once at a show in NYC when someone yelled out like that. Steve halted the music and admonished the guy. After that moment, you could hear a pin drop (we had all been roundly chastised like a bunch of little kids). He then started the song from the beginning and on went the night into glorious, ecstatic PT oblivion.

That was a great performance. I saw them while working at a small club in Minneapolis when they toured in support of this album. I liked them so much I bought the disc from the merch table. On the rare occasion this song comes on my feed I remember how fantastic this band is. Thanks for the musical joy!
