You need an Innovate AFR gauge to set mixture correctly. Air pump should be disconnected when getting a reading on AFR gauge

Thanks for all your comments Gunar, very useful. Yes, I need to pick up a AFR gauge. For the moment the mixture is close enough though.. .the car doesn't pop on revving, doesn't smoke etc.

Make sure you clean that crocodile plug pins inside and out in both connectors

@@MrToddgibbs Many times is where to start, *then* having the dexterity (and courage) to tackle. As we speak, mine is in for a new clutch and oil pan replacement. Both are beyond my “pay grade.”

@@MrToddgibbs Some routine maintenance items, but the “heavy lifting” is always done by Sean @ 928 Docs. He’s right there with 928sRUs, so lots of 928 knowledge.

If the injectors are "singing" or dumping fuel before the car is running you could be running rich. A tiny amount of change to the mixture screw goes a long way.

Your episodes have been great to watch. I had been thinking of selling my 1978. Similar to yours it was mocca braun. It is in pretty clean shape and has the tan interior and 5 speed. Now I thinking it might be a good retirement project. Much due to you. Thank you. Happy to see your continued progress.

You are doing great work. I am always glad to see the next installment. I am hoping to get some sort of 928 in the next 12 months. I was wondering what changes do you need to make for E10 fuel? Maybe you are covered with having already installed new fuel lines

All grounds and electric connections (grounds etc) need to be shiny. I used a dremel copper wire wheel

Luckily the previous owner seems to have been over most of the ground connectors with something similar. It was only this group of brown wires just ahead of the radiator that I found disconnected (and dirty!).

Great progress again, those 14 pin connector backs are a really tight fit and snap easily so probably why the previous owner just dumped resin in there.

same issue with mine on the 14 pin connector..any issue to just replace with a newer style connector both male & female?

I have a timing strobe, I should pick up something to confirm rpm, but from my calibration Im pretty sure my tacho is accurate.

Hey Todd, So, one of things i found while spraying brake cleaner to find vacuum leaks, I found that the interface between the MAF housing and the fuel distributor has a leak. Did you have a gasket or some kind of sealant between the two? I can't find any in the manual, and I'm curious to know if you're experiencing the same. Thanks again for the vid - i checked my thermovalve again from this video!

Look at 10:19 in my episode after rebuilding the fuel distributor. You can see me place it on the MaF without a gasket. The question is “is there a rubber o-ring at the bottom of the FD?”… it would have been part of the FD rebuild kit if there was. I’ll keep looking
