Throughout all its generations, the Porsche 911 GT3 remains one of the absolute best driver's cars in the world. Despite having an intrinsically unbalanced rear-engine layout, the GT3 is engineered in a way that makes it so capable on track, but also so rewarding to drive on the street. The latest 992 generation grows in size, but also in terms of performance, technology, and responsiveness. We finally get to review a 992 GT3 Touring with the proper manual transmission, and do a quick back-to-back comparison with a 991.2 GT3 too!! Enjoy this review!

Beautiful car, but with roll cage and racing harnesses seems like owner is tracking it so why not just get regular winged GT3 with more downforce? Seems like touring is more for backroads or canyons vs. track.

Well. The owner has both. That 991.2 GT3 sees even more track time, plus he has two GT3 Cup cars. Touring would still be fun on track!

I'm with you 100% man. I'd get this car in a manual WITH the wing. The touring edition would make more sense if they softened up the suspension a bit and made it more comfortable inside.

I got a call for a 911 gt3 with several hours to provide a build. Went with shark blue and PDK - this high tech car needs the high tech trans. Manual would be like putting a tape deck in the car because it is more engaging than Bluetooth your phone. Likely it would be even more engaging with a horse harnessed out front also.

I have a Touring manual and would never change it for a sterile pdk, not for road use. But if you track the car, then a wing and pdk make more sense - and a cage. Very different cars for different uses.

@@mainardodenardis382 well an endless debate - but truth is a manual trans is a 1960’s Porsche legacy - but this amazingly high tech marvel deserves the high tech best transmission in the world today- PDK. Manual for a Targa or a cabriolet but a manual in a GT3 is like having a tape deck installed and a cd changer because it is more engaging to carry around a briefcase of cd’s and tapes to play music in a gt3. The pdk with paddles allows you to shift on your own terms and with the shift mounted in the center column you can shift with your right hand if you wish sans a clutch pedal. Easier on the car engine also - and you can keep both hands on the steering wheel while driving allowing for concentration on the road. No misshifts either and over rev the engine - I have a new 911T with a manual and it is okay in that car which is not the optimized car that the GT3 is of course. The GT3 engineers have spent a lot of effort on every aspect of the GT3 and then you add the slow and truthfully incompetent cog - the driver shifting the engine rather than the brilliance and microsecond shifting ability of the Porsche PDK- a transmission that there is no substitute for in the world today.

@@jeffreykilpatrick3592 This “high tech car” theory for suiting the PDK would apply more to a Turbo S with torque vectoring, variable vane geometry twin turbos, AWD, dynamic chassis control, etc than the RWD, lightweight, high revving naturally aspirated version if you ask me Also, not sure the tape deck/CD changer analog exactly translates to PDK vs 6SPD 🤔

Simple, because he doesn’t want to look like a civic rxrxrxcrxx fanboy douchbag with a massive rear spoiler for daily driving. If you have a GT3 RS /Cup cars then ok because that’s obviously a track car. But if it’s naturally aspirated like this GT3 and a manual you clearly are going for the sound and feel over the track times that the RS with wing is going for.
