16 months on from taking delivery of my 997.2 C2S (2011) I love it. It's a special car that is looking better by the day. Ride is so dialed.

As a 997.2 4S PDK owner, I have to say the only replacement model I keep looking at as a daily driver is the 991.2. The only reason is I think the 3.0T engine would be great for traffic conditions. Other than that, the 997.2 is the (almost) perfect 911. Mine's not going anywhere anytime soon.
@sitalchauhan15 жыл бұрын
In the 997.1 the radio knob pulls straight off, wipe it down with some wd40 or dish soap and a rag, and the stickyness comes off making it brand new again
@docholliday275410 ай бұрын
2011 is a 997.2, you have to pop off the cover plater on the knob and un-screw it.

The car is solidly built. I’ve had mine since 2009 and nothing has gone wrong except a few minor parts like door locks mechanism and hood struts needing replacement.

i've had my '09 4S for a year and a half now, daily driver in Utah. It's been a similar experience to yours - just great. I too am not that big a fan of the electronic oil level. I have a 6 speed and it's just an amazing joy to drive.
@arned24934 жыл бұрын
Finally I find closer brethren in terms of car. I too have a 2011 997.2 S, only mine is not all wheel drive; don't need it in TX. Other than that, very similar to yours: meteorite gray, PDK, PSE, PASM, clear tail lights, etc. It has camel leather and 19 inch turbo wheels. Like you I love my 911. When I bought it, it only had 10K+ miles and as of May 2020 I'm coming up on 35K miles, so it is not my daily driver - I'd say more 30% to 50% of the time I drive the car. But I do drive it hard sometimes and it is simply put sublime on the asphalt, in curves with elevation. I haven't tracked it yet, but have driven it hard in Sport Plus. Hit me up if you want to learn more about my experience with the car.

I, too, dislike electronic oil level indicator. What if that sensor goes bad? I also love your shots of unique architectural shapes from the areas that you travel. Always cool to take notice for a moment. A 911 is art as is many of the things that you capture.

I also drive a 997.2 c2S, but in Mexico-City! Tell me about rough roads! Nevertheless, even though it might seem crazy or senseless, I don't see myself letting go of this car for rational reasons. A fantastic driving experience and love to take it out on the weekends. No problem with that radio tuning button yet though...great video, keep it up!

Hi, I had the same issue with the sticky volume knob, Solution: cotton bud dipped in whiskey and a little patience, worked a treat. just keep rolling the cotton bud until it lifts all the goo.
@DriftKr6l5 жыл бұрын
Take the radio knob off, pull it off, take a rag and IPA and wipe off the knob numerous times with lots of IPA, the sticky finish will come off and you will be left with a non sticky, new feeling, knob. Did this on my 997.1 GT3.

First let me say: I love your YT channel........wonderful content, great editing, fantastic settings. So, please don’t take offense at anything I say! I’ve been driving Porsches as my daily drivers for 40+ years and I just have a few comments about this video. 1. I’m always amazed at Porsche owners who seem enthralled with the Launch Control feature. I just don’t get it..........Porsches are not big muscle dragsters. So, why? And, I only drive manual gearbox Porsches, so it makes even less sense except for the Dynamic Engine Mounts. 2. Every time I hear the word Taycan and see how almost all reviewers are over-the-top in their reviews, makes me want to cringe! The fact that we, as drivers, are literally being forced into an “electric world” of cars really rattles my cage! You didn’t do that, but you mentioned the model as possible replacement (?) for your 997, possibly the finest of all 911s ever made. And, I now drive a 991.2 which I absolutely love. But, the overall size of your car is so much better than mine! I guess this is just an “old man” rant since I’m now 75 years old, but I love driving so much that I still drive somewhere every single day just for the joy of driving and hearing the mechanical sounds of combustion-engine car and a Porsche’s glorious sound. This will all disappear with electric cars. I don’t really care how fast they are........it doesn’t interest me. PS: I raced motorcycles for 15 years, was a PCA DE instructor, and tracked Porsches for 10 ten years. My only saving grace is I’ll probably be six-feet-under by the time it all comes to an end. That, I’m happy about! Keep up the great job on your YT channel...........I truly love it!

I drove 140K km with my 997.2 C4S and I would say nearly the same as you. I have also the problem with seat (I dislike it too) but not the one with the radio button. I had a few parts to change (get ready for that if you drive in the snow, as said)... For sure, this car is really good and even if mine is now 13 years old, it is such a good car that I don't to want change it yet.

Cool video! I am a Toronto transplant to LA. What no one has posted yet is the cost of maintenance. I have a 2016 991.1, that I had to get the 4 year maintenance done on, even though I only have 24,000 miles. It is required by Porsche, so regardless of milage, they look at time. My 3 year was just over $600, but my 4 year was $2,800. Ouch! To maintain the warranty, you need to follow their requirements, and this is at the dealership. Great car, but I feel we are getting screwed over on this. When the warranty is up, it will no longer be going to a Porsche dealership.

Ah yeah a 997.2 C4 GTS would also be an amazing choice. Quite a novel car with beeing the 1st modern GTS. Otherwise you can't really replace a 911 with something else.... Cayman would be downgrade. Maybe a 991.2 Carrera T when the prices come down, but finding one with the rear-wheel-steering is nearly impossible.

Great video and editing. What to get next? My wife says that her Macan GTS is the ultimate car -- like a 4 door 911 in Sport mode with lowering air suspension. On the other hand, I think the Taycan is spectacular, but over $200K in Canada.

I’m using a 2011 c2 as a daily driver in Los Angeles. I feel exactly the same way about the car. Obsession. My only issue is more with the poor quality of LA roads than the car. Streets are incredibly rough around where I live so I’ve popped in a DSC pasm controller which helps quite a bit. If you upgraded what should you get? A newer GT3 touring would be on my dream list. I have a bit of a thing for the Carrera Ts. But I’ll also looking at 2011ish GTS coupes. A little more punch, the standard sports exhaust, and finding one with XM radio would be awesome. Great channel!

I don’t know where you would go from there if you were to replace the C4S. I guess 991? I really like the C4S with its reflector across the back, but I wouldn’t want the extra weight and moving parts if I didn’t need it (don’t live in a cold climate). I wish more 997.2s were available in general and more with three pedals. Way more 997.1s. But thanks to the recession, the “better” of the 2 997s has smaller numbers.

oil changes in the 997.2 is every 20k miles or 2 years. So if you keep changing he oil before then your wasting money. There is no need if you use fully synthetic. The electronic oil shows up EVERY TIME you put the key in the ignition. Because oil is that important, if it was just a physical stick you would never check it and when it needs oil you would know when its too late. Porsche Doesn't take chances, they don't make junk and its the most dependable car dealership ever. They do have the rare ones that have issues but not a whole line, it happens but its not common. If you care for a 911 correctly you can put "litterally" a million miles on it. Look up the million mile 911.
@-Grifter Жыл бұрын
The oil level doesn’t show up EVERY TIME you get in it. You have to drive the car for at least 20 mins to warm up the engine to temp then park on a flat surface with the engine running and go through the oil menus to then select and sit and wait for sometimes a minute and a half to get the reading. I know I have a 997.2. I agree a dipstick would be better. Sometimes you top up the oil, drive somewhere with the intent on checking oil when you get there but forget. Then you think you will do it once you driven home before you pull onto your sloping drive then forget. Once you’ve remembered the oil indicator says, engine temp too low. Doh. Rinse and repeat.
