I bought a similar model, the 2017 Platinum version without the air suspension, last October after watching your first video. The Porsche CPO warranty covers two years, and the car is running great. I also have a 2012 Touareg with close to 130k miles, which is also running great. Although I worry about the battery, I have good faith. Please keep the videos coming!

I think the push for full electrification (while a worthy overall goal) has caused many to overlook the significant benefits of an interim plug-in hybrid solution. As you point out, a relatively small battery allows you to do most of your day to day errands/commute in EV mode, while still being able to take advantage of the existing fuel infrastructure for longer trips. We have 80K miles on our '21 RAV4 Prime and still get 40 miles of electric range... plus 35+ MPG when running on gasoline.

I decided to try the Quadtrac Pros on our 2021 Durango AWD. After 20k miles, my fronts are in good shape but the rears are completely shot. We're not really "hooning" since its mostly my pregnant wife on twisty backroads with kids. I'm going to reach out to Vredestein and see if there is a warranty. We had a few nasty storms up here in WI with 12+ plus inches at at time and the tires did phenomenal, just wish they'd last a bit longer. Great vid guys!

I’m considering one of these to replace our NX200t. Larger storage capacity and (incredibly) better MPG. I had a BMW 530e which was great - similar range for battery only and with a 26 mi commute to work (recharging at the office) I was getting about 64.4 MPG. In the BMW, the transition between the all electric and turbo 4 cylinder was seamless. Your review covered so many points that are on my mind - really appreciated it!

Purchased a ‘13 GTS 3y ago, had just over 70k miles. I’m now at 101k. Upon purchase, changed the plugs, ignition coils, filters, and tires (Conti DWS, 21”). Since then, replaced the battery and starter. I also ended up replacing the thermostat housing as a precautionary measure, as mine was the design that’s known to fail (pipes glued on). The passenger rear door lock doesn’t work, which is common and interestingly this specific door. Otherwise no issues so far. I do like the truck, primarily for the na V8. At the same time, being the primary family vehicle used for trips etc, I cant help but be anxious that something will go wrong (first euro car I’ve owned). Considered trading it for a Lexus GX.

I personally wouldn’t be to worried about the battery I mean it’s no worse than the older hybrid batter replacement cost on a car that was maybe 25-30k new. Our ‘17 Touareg is chugging along well also, it’s completely made me only want a Cayenne S or higher next with the air suspension as mine.

I have the same car with 70K km on it. The electric only range never shows more than 22 km. When it’s fully depleted the app shows it sucks in 7kw, so the capacity is right. Ran Vredestein Quatrac Pro here in CO on our Touareg. Great in the snow. We live at 6,500 ft and are up in the mountains chasing storms 30+ days a year. Never ran into a situation that I wished for more winter performance. Wore quickly in the warmer weather (as expected), but great tire. Honestly I'd say it was just as good as my LX570 on General Grabber Artic LT snow tires. Though the Lexus is a porky vehicle and it's hard to argue against physics. Our Q5 on Discoverer Snow Claws takes the cake though. It's stupid good in snow.

Vredestein Quatrac Pro+ or Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 Plus tires? It be for a Q5 in the Chicagoland area. We get it all weather wise. From days that are super hot to brutal cold/snow. I have experienced the DWS 06 Plus tires and usually a good go to for a good all around tire. Fuel saved vs purchase cost vs battery replacement cost?
@i679n55 ай бұрын
Depends on your driving habits. If you are doing less than 30 miles/drive you will get approximately 50% lower MPG. If you are doing 15 miles/drive you will be close to zero. So what is your yearly gas cost, are you driving short or long distance. My thoughts after owning multiple EVs: if I am mostly driving short trips - why even pay for the gas engine in the first place. If mostly driving long trips - why have the hassle of a system that can fail. But it is comfort or economy that leads you to the right decision. Hopefully not religious reasons.

people saying it's the wrong one are divorced from the realities of energy efficiency, or gas prices. filling up an everyday car with mileage in the teens makes me want to dig my brain out of my ears with a soup spoon, sounds so miserable...battery reliability is excellent and that's been proven for a quarter century now, and the "it only gets X miles of range in EV only mode" always ignores how much farther they go on blended mode with that nice battery size. Plug-ins are pretty great, I wish manufacturers had put more emphasis on them in that ICE to EV transition.

22 MPG average is kinda terrible, what's even the point of the hybrid system if it's going to guzzle fuel like any other SUV ?
@Trendyflute5 ай бұрын
would probably get 16 without it, which means that fuel use per 1000 miles has decreased from 62.5 to 45.5, a saving of 17 gallons per 1000 miles. Compare that to hybridizing an economy car that might get 35 MPG as a non-hybrid and 50 as a hybrid, that's a decrease from 28.3 to 20 gallons per 1000 miles, a saving of 8.3 gallons per 1000 miles. The fuel economy of that hybrid economy car would have to go all the way from 35 to 90 MPG to save the same 17 gallons per 1000 miles that the Cayenne hybridization does. While this math does indicate that the real way to save fuel is to get smaller, less powerful vehicles with less frontal area, all things being equal in terms of size, weight, and performance, it actually makes the most sense to hybridize larger, heavier vehicles in terms of actual fuel savings. MPG is a bit of a false metric as opposed to gallons per mile.
