Dang that is some sophisticated suspension work. I can’t imagine the cost of diagnosing and replacing parts on that.

Careful removing wheels especially in front. Bang the wheel on the carbon brake and chip it and you’re out over $20,000 for new front rotors.

does it look like they changed anything else geometry wise compared to the 2023 model? I have a q7 based on the same chassis and I wanted to upsize my tires from the 285/40/21 to a 285/45/21

I like that they are using a top and bottom duel pivot on the front suspension. Not only is handling improved, but wear is also reduced.
@ALMX5DP Жыл бұрын
How does the dual ball joint link setup improve handling and reduce wear over a comparable double A arm with single ball joints?
@kevindavis8143 Жыл бұрын
@@ALMX5DP handling is improved by moving the pivot point from inside the tire to the middle of the tire. This reduces a phenomenon known as "scrub". Wear is reduced on the tire from reducing scrub, but you also divide the load on the ball joints.
@ALMX5DP Жыл бұрын
@@kevindavis8143 ah gotcha, yeah I do see that making the upper links longer would make contact with the wheel so makes sense to develop it that way so the virtual point is still in a reasonable position. I didn’t think about how big everything is. On my Miata the upper arm is actually within the wheel barrel a bit but only because it’s so small and not interfering with anything else. And yeah definitely makes sense that two ball joints could distribute and effectively manage the load.

Hyundai puts money into pretty graphics and 3-D gauges, Porsche into suspension geometry. The invisible stuff is why they are so much more expensive and drive like nothing else.

Thats a lot of expensive to make and later maintain parts just to share the same road with beat up nissan altimas with speed limit of 55mph. Lol. But I like the review. Every car review should be like this. I dont want some guy talking about exterior styling and infotainmet settinga for 30min. Any halfwit could do that. But this right here takes real knowledge, the kind your average consumer doesn't have

@@Tatom_Martin The Macan is based on the first generation Q5 platform and although it has been updated twice, is very old. It came out in 2014-2015 and that was when the previous generation 958 Cayenne was still around. It also uses completely different engines at this point since the Cayenne no longer uses the 2.9L V6 Twin Turbo (at least for now). It also uses the 7 speed PDK / Dual clutch whereas the Cayennes all use an 8 Speed automatic. Aside from being 4 door (5 door really) SUV's with platforms underneath shared with other VAG vehicles, they couldn't be more different.
