Indeed Sir. A like for you! Plus, it's not really fair saying the 4WD is a plus. That means there's more gearing between the engine crank and final power delivery to the wheels. On a rally stage where all you do is dash between corners it's all fine, but in a normal drag on tarmac you don't get the same benefit..

I have to agree that on the long way AWD is worse (except WRC stages xD), but for just simple light to light acceleration it is better ;D I'm mean 500m max races ;) But unfortunately guys from autocar, evo, mototrend etc. have really bad habit in choosing wrong cars for those comparisons/drag races...

Brunlera i have a 1.5jz sc300 on pump i make 505rwp and 490 ish ft/tq my buddy has the same car with a regular 1jz with 2.5 liters. with same turbo setup makes 500rwp and 390 ish ft/tq and I win 95% of our races. Horsepower sell cars, Torque wins races

I think all the haters are missing the point. The so called 'experts' that claimed they knew the outcome ...still clicked. If you knew the answer then you didn't need to click. Just because the outcome was obvious to most, doesn't make it a rubbish video. We were all slightly intrigued - hence the click. And yes, the cars are a show of profligacy, but they intend to divide opinions and that's a good thing. It makes them interesting. Interesting is GOOD. Interesting is better than mediocrity. Not everything has to have a 'point'. Pointless is a non-comment. The world needs MORE interesting things that divide opinion. I would buy neither even if I had the money... but is interesting watching and reading the comments;-)

Why does not it surprise me? Both cars are overkill in the US. We have 75 mph speed limit. But no one can take away the fun of acceleration of 550 horse car. It fishtails at 60-70 mph. It is an ultimate thrill. Thank you for the video!

Am I the only one around here who thinks that neither one of these cars should really exist? Yes I know it is quite exciting to have a racy version of a big everyday car but here is my problem: If I'd buy an S class, I'd buy it because it is really comfortable and a piece of pure luxury. Making a hard and sporty version of that kind of ruins the purpose of an S class for me. And as for the Cayenne: They put a really awesome motor into this thing but be honest. If you were to buy it you would constantly wonder how fast this car would really be if it was not unnecessarily huge and heavy. You'd just enjoy that engine way more in a smaller and lighter car, wouldn't you?

lifehacker123 These 2 cars exists for a very very great reasons and they are as follows below : S 63 AMG : A person who has a family or needs room for friends defiantly needs a salon car, And if that person was a gear head and wanted something very powerful and exciting and also is one of the best quality cars is defiantly going for the S-Class not forgetting it safety and technology. If that person by any means could afford an S 63 i am 75% sure he would have a sports coupe for his personal enjoyment. Cayenne Turbo S : This SUV is ridiculously amazing because as an SUV where you can beat numerous sports cars in drag race and still have the advantage of off roading and i am not saying it's the best off road car, But you still get out alive. And again a Porsche so heritage & quality is sublime. Cayenne is the biggest hit for Porsche & trust me they would laugh at anyone saying this is useless after seeing their sales figures ;)

Those cars are marketing products. They exist just to sell amg style pack, or cayenne diesel with a s pack. Porsche and mercedes press services will always put the extreme version in the light. Most of people will think that all cayenne and s class are v8 monsters, only petrolheads will see the differences. Marketers are liars..

***** Yes but still I think the sportiness of an AMG S class would kind of ruin the luxury experience for me personally. I get that sometimes it can be safer to have a fast car, but I wouldn't be too comfortable in such an S class. I want it to massage me because it has massaging seats and not because I can feel the bumps on the street since it has been fitted with stiffer shock absorbers. Just like someone above me already said: They are trying to be two cars at once and I don't think that it would make me personally happy. I have nothing against you if you like those cars but yeah. I like the S63 and its a great limo for 2-4 people. But for a family of 3-8, GL63 will be the sub for the S63 since the GL chassis is based from the S-Class. I like the Cayenne and its quick, but not as spacious as the GL.

Cayenne turbo s appeals too those young dads who want needs the practicality of a mid size SUV but wants to the feel & handling of a sports saloon when on a free open road...... Cayenne diesel s/turbo(s)/gts Range rover sport sdv8/supercharged ML 550 4matic / 63amg Hell, even the smaller audi SQ5 does it 4 us The x5 does not count. Driven the 2013 4.4 v8. Tho it handles well, it's lazy to give you it's power. Have never driven a jeep, much less the srt8 version....but I'd figure that would work in the lineup aswell Either way, opinion........ :p

The noise of German V8s sometimes don't really come through very well on video. It sounds kind of farty and flappy. I guess it's just the mic quality on the stick-on cameras.

I'm an AMG driver and wouldn't have it any other way but in the real world the Cayenne is faster. In the UK the average speed is below 56mph, (yes I know there will be motorway mile eaters that get better from time to time), but the reality is that a lot of the driving is not above this speed. This was a stupid test.

I challenge you to propel a 2.2 ton car to 60 in under four seconds. A car's 0-60 time depends a lot on weight - that's plain physics. The Mulsanne, for example, has 752 lb/ft of torque and over 500 hp, yet takes 5.1 seconds to reach 60 mph. More power and torque does not always mean faster acceleration, especially if weight is increased with power. 4.4 seconds to 60 for such a massive car is nothing short of astounding.

This car isn't meant for going fast and the car is more than two tons. 0-60 in 4.4 is mind blowingly fast for something this big and heavy. Let's not forget that in the early 2000's cars half this weight would do 0-60 in 4.4 and it would be amazing, only the best super cars got into the 3 second margin, so cool your jets dude.
